Trader's Refuge is a private property accessed from within the owner's playershop in Solhaven. It is owned by Tanai in Platinum, Lesse in Shattered, and ? in Prime.

This property was a Trove item win (a dusty blue voucher) during Duskruin in February, 2022. It is a permanent property with no monthly rent that includes a storage room, main apartment, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and study. Note: Although this property is rent free, the playershop it's connected with is not rent free.

Storage Room

[Trader's Refuge, Storageroom]
Austere and cramped, the storeroom is lined on two sides with wooden shelving holding stock to be sold. Through the middle of the room, a simple cotton rug provides some covering for the rough hewn wood floor as a silver-latticed lantern overhead provides lighting. Against the back wall, a set of stairs leads up to a carved oak doorway, while a gilded ironwood chest rests upon a small platform in the open space beneath them. You also see an arched pine door leading to the shop.
Obvious exits: none

>look gilded ironwood chest

Built from stout ironwood, the chest is a mixture of both form and function. The exterior of the chest has been reinforced with dark iron bands decorated with delicate gold leafwork. Its curved top has been engraved with scenes of aquatic life under ships at sea. In front, a black iron keyhole has been formed into the shape of a kraken's mouth with several black tentacles spiraling out from the edge of the lock's faceplate.

Apartment

[Trader's Refuge, Apartment]
Bright and airy colors in this room counterbalance the darkly stained oak floors and dim light filtering in through a white linen-curtained window flanked by a pair of sconces. On opposite walls, a carved white door and a carved light blue door lead to adjoining rooms while the center is devoted to entertaining guests. A pair of soft leather couches and a whitewashed driftwood table serve as a comfortable seating area, while a large glass aquarium divides it from the entry area. You also see a carved oak doorway.
Obvious exits: east, west

>exhale window

You lean over and lightly breathe on a white linen-curtained window. A faint foggy mist forms over the surface of the window then slowly fades away.

>snap sconce

You snap your fingers at the glass wall sconces, and a small flame flares into existence, casting a dancing shadow along the ground. / You snap your fingers at the glass wall sconces which extinguishes itself, causing a small jet of smoke that quickly dissipates.

>look large glass aquarium

Sitting upon a heavy monir base, the aquarium has been built with a granite base bearing a small plaque and thick glass walls. Along the bottom, a colorful array of gravel has been smoothed and topped with a fanciful grey castle. An etched brass hood sits atop the aquarium, the weight helping to keep it secure against the aquarium's sole denizen. Below, a shelf contains necessities for tending to such a creature.
There appears to be something written on it.

>read aquarium

In the Common language, it reads:
Clawdius

>pinch aquarium

You grab the container of food from the shelf below the aquarium and toss a few morsels in. As the food descends into the water, the lobster viciously snaps it up with its pincers and quickly devours it.

>tap aquarium

As you tap on the glass of the aquarium, the lobster turns its antennae and eyestalks towards the source of its annoyance.

>look lobster

Long scratches and divots mar the full length of the thick, black, chitinous exoskeleton and large pincers of this lobster. Underneath, its eight segmented legs move it swiftly through the water while its long antennae and eyestalks swivel to investigate any perceived vibration or movement.

Apartment Ambients

  • The light of the glass wall sconces gutters as the flames wane, brilliant hues turning dull, almost smoky.
  • A soft glow emanates from the glass wall sconces.
  • Soothing light, cast from the glass wall sconces, glows softly, the merest hint of a wisp of smoke drifting along the flame's edges.
  • A tiny ember sparks into the air, yet quickly turns to harmless ash lost to an errant rush of air.
  • Burning brightly, an inexplicable rush of cerulean and viridian flame intermixes with the already present reds and oranges of the glass wall sconces.
  • A drunkard passes by below the window, loudly complaining about the high price and low quality of his latest bottle of brandy.
  • The lobster in the aquarium suddenly snaps up some long forgotten morsel of food hidden within the gravel and devours it quickly.
  • A tap comes from the aquarium as the lobster within stares expectantly.

Kitchen

[Trader's Refuge, Kitchen]
White marble floors and cabinets serve as a backdrop for several colorful touches in the kitchen. An island with a soft blue base and grey marble countertop provides a convenient place for prepared food and drinks to be served. Behind it, a countertop with a white wash basin and enameled stove serves as a food preparation area while a silver filigree bin sits to the side. Overhead, a delicate silver chandelier provides illumination over the workspace and island.

Study

[Trader's Refuge, Study]
The darkly stained white oak flooring from the living quarters continues into this study where a carved mahogany desk and velvet-backed chair dominate the center of the room. Behind the desk, a large city map has been hung on the bright blue wall between a pair of sconces. The walls on either side of the desk are lined with white bookcases containing books dedicated to various historical and nautical pursuits.
Obvious exits: east

>look map

Scalloped bronze frames a hand drawn and aged map of Solhaven from prior to the Cataclysm. The streets and important locations have been artfully labeled with flowing script and throughout the map, small dotted lines connect related businesses - butchers and bakers to restaurants and grocers, tanners and weavers to clothiers. A central, red-marked point on the map serves as a nexus for many of the lines, though the name has been seemingly omitted.

>look bookcases

The tall shelves of the bookcases are lined with leatherbound volumes interspersed with smaller personal items. Many of the volumes are dedicated to trading and other business pursuits, though a few smaller tomes are related to sailing and navigation on the open seas.

Bath

[Trader's Refuge, Bath]
Atop a smooth marble floor rests a white claw-foot bath flanked on either side by a wash cloth basket and a small wood table to hold various sundries. Behind the bath, a sea blue tile wall rises from floor to ceiling to accent the room's otherwise plain white walls. In the corner, a pair of brass lanterns hanging next to a round glass washbowl provide a soft glow to the space, the oil releasing a sweet orange blossom aroma when it burns. You also see a carved white door.
Obvious exits: none

>tap washbowl

You lightly tap the edge of the washbowl and watch as the water within slowly drains away. Moments later, steaming hot water rises from its depths and slowly refills it.

Dipping your fingers into the glass washbowl, you vigorously scrub your hands in the warm water.

Bedroom

[Trader's Refuge, Bedroom]
The darkly stained, white oak flooring of this bedroom is relieved by the white shiplap walls and exposed beam ceiling of this inviting room. Atop a tonal blue wool rug, which covers most of the floor, rests a large feather-stuffed bed and a footbench with a rope-hung brass chandelier suspended overhead. On the opposite wall, a small antique dresser sits between two diamond-grid windows with a polished silver mirror hung above it. You also see a carved light blue door.
