Originally created by GMs Kuromaku and Raene in 1999, these kaleidoscopes were updated by GM Xynwen in 2024 to be re-released at Ebon Gate. There are currently 3 tiers. This kaleidoscope is Tier 1.

Usage: TURN will randomly select 4 phrase groups. PEER shows them. Custom phrase sets still are selected randomly, but at Tier 3, you can TWIST to select the entire phrase set for your PEER.

Placement Usage: At T3, PLACE to set it down for up to 4 hours. Only the person PLACEing can pick it back up during that time. If you forget, after four hours, it will be able to be picked up by anyone, including the janitor. If the janitor gets it, you can check in at the Adventurer's Guild for LOST items. Pick it up by repeating PLACE <item>.

Private Property Usage: If you own a private property, you can PLACE the kaleidoscope, and it will not be swept up by the janitor. It will stay there until you pick it up with PLACE <item>.

PERMANENT PP Usage: After PLACEing the kaleidoscope in your private property, you can PUSH it and make it a permanent prop in the room. If you do this, it cannot be undone. You can no longer PLACE it or GET it.

Verbs:
* Tier 1: fidget, peer, turn

Alterations:
* Any merchant can alter if desired. Unlocks are with permission only. It takes a base, long, and/or show. There is a stock LOOK, and it will append to any custom SHOW. Keep this in mind when altering.
-- when PLACEd, this stock look will also reference the stand
* This should remain a kaleidoscope item (so a tube, cylinder, kaleidoscope, or other appropriate noun)
* There are references to tiny wheels near the eyepiece and gears/clockwork items on and in it

Custom Fields:
* These 4 fields are separate from an alteration. If the alter contradicts what is here, these will be updated to fit. Merchants can do all 4 fields as 1 service
* Stand (used for PLACE at T3): no article, include noun. Ex. silver-inlaid ebonwood holder or cedar stand
* Kaleidoscope main material/descriptor: How you want the main body of the kaleidoscope referenced in applicable messaging. Ex. gem-encrusted or silver-inlaid copper or smooth
* Gears: adjectives used in front of "gears." Ex. copper or etched brass
* Wheels: Same as gears but for the tiny wheels

Custom Phrase Sets
* At Tier 2, you can set 2 custom phrase sets. Tier 3 adds 3 more. You cannot alter these fields unless the kaleidoscope is unlocked to the proper tier.
* Adding one custom set of phrases can be done at GALD, but it is a service in and of itself and shouldn't be combined with alterations.

Phrase Sets Setup:
* The phrase set layout is "phrase 1^phrase2^phrase 3^phrase4"
* Phrase 1 should be a type of pattern, like "a swirl of rose-hued leaves"
* Phrase 2 will connect 2 patterns together, like "overlaid by"
* Phrase 3 will be another pattern, like "dozens of miniscule red crystals"
* Phrase 4 connects it all together (often a background), like "upon a shimmering silver background"
* It all ties together thusly: You peer through your kaleidoscope and see a swirl of rose-hued leaves overlaid by dozens of miniscule red crystals upon a shimmering silver background.
* Each section is randomly chosen when TURNing and saved in sdata10 for PEERing
* At Tier 3, you can TWIST to put a custom phrase set in sdata10 in its entirety

Current Settings:
* Stand: polished resaeun stand
* Material: smooth
* Gears: copper
* Wheels: copper
* Current View Phrase: sdata1-1^second^third^fourth
* Custom Phrase Set 1: sdata1-1^second^third^fourth

~*~ Kaleidoscopes ~*~

  * Stand:  polished resaeun stand
  * Material:  smooth
  * Gears:  copper
  * Wheels: copper
  * Current View Phrase:  sdata1-1^second^third^fourth
  * Custom Phrase Set 1: sdata1-1^second^third^fourth
