Beehives are fixed scripted props that house bees, which produce honey and wax that can be gathered with an Apiculture Jar. Beehives can benefit from up to three flowers placed nearby, and their honey will match those flower types. A number of public beehives exist in public apiaries in all towns and in the Rift. In addition, private beehives can be installed in a private property. Beehives have a 10 minute cooldown when harvested by an Apiculture Jar. Beehives were introduced in 2026 alongside the Apiculture Jar. Certificates to install a private beehive are sold in the Rumor Woods shop Vintage Visions. Public BeehiveBeehives exist as part of apiaries in all towns plus the Rift. They can be interacted with via an Apiculture Jar. Beehives have a noun of alveary, beehive, beehouse, hive, or skep. See the list of public apiaries below.
This is a beehive that can be harvested for honey and other bee products using an Apiculture Jar. Private BeehivePrivate beehives are those placed in a private property. They can be added via certificate; all alterations should be done to the certificate before redeeming it and placing it in a property. Private beehives allow the property owner to change out the default bee via a Bugs on Parade gem bee found anywhere. They also allow for the property owner to add up to three different flowers. Flowers added can be from either the foraging system or a Foraged Item Prop, however flowers from a Foraged Item Prop will only ever produce "wildflower" honey. Flowers from the foraging system will produce honey related to the flower type.AnalyzeThis is a beehive that can be harvested for honey and other bee products using an Apiculture Jar. PUSH: Adds a foraged flower or an appropriate Bugs On Parade bug gem bee to the beehive. This action will destroy the flower or bug gem. PULL: Removes the flower in the current plot. TURN: Changes which flower plot will be manipulated by PUSH/PULL. WAVE: Toggles ambients. Ambients are currently off. Usage
Additional InformationBeehive AppearanceAll beehives, both public and private, have a hard-coded line at the end that indicates what the bees in the hive look like as well as what flowers, up to three, are nearby. The flowers nearby determine what type of honey the hive produces. The default setting for a beehive once placed looks like: Honey bees move in lazy circuits between the conical hive and wildflowers flourishing nearby. Public apiaries typically have a unique bee to the region as well as three flowers that grow in that realm. For example, the three hives in the Solhaven public apiary include: Stub-winged royal lady bees move in lazy circuits between the driftwood beehouse and gorses, stalk of tuberoses, and heath asters flourishing nearby. Russet and tawny mining bees move in lazy circuits between the top bar hive and blue robin flowers, white water crowfoots, and lady's smock blossoms flourishing nearby. Dark-legged loosestrife bees move in lazy circuits between the marshgrass skep and pink clover blossoms, yellow clover blossoms, and moonlight cactus-blooms flourishing nearby. Flowers listed determine the honey type. Only flowers from the foraging system produce honey that references the flower name. When using a flower taken from a Foraged Item Prop in a private beehive, the flower used will be visible however it will only ever produce "wildflower honey". Public beehives use foraging system flowers and will produce honey related to one of the hive's three flowers. Ambient MessagesA gilt-striped honey bee plunges into a white gardenia, disappearing in the petals. Gilt-striped honey bees cluster thickly at the cedar beehive's entrance, fanning their wings in practiced unison to cool the comb. With a soft buzz, a gilt-striped honey bee alights on a yellow and pink wild rose. A gilt-striped honey bee buries itself in a sprig of mournbloom, emerging coated with golden pollen. The breeze shifts, carrying with it the thick sweetness of ripening honey. A single royal lady bee buzzes past your ear before drifting away. A lone royal lady bee hovers in place, its wings a blur before it darts back into an inverted conical hive emerging from beneath a mushroom cap. Several stub-winged royal lady bees gather in a small cloud and circle one another in a dance. See Also |
