Multicast is the ability to cast defensive spells multiple times per cast to more quickly stack durations. It still takes the same amount of mana as if the spell had been cast separately, but the duration is multiplied by the amount of specified multicasts, and the cast roundtime is the same as casting once. Multicast can be used both selfcast and when casting on others.
The ability to multicast is based on training in the appropriate Mana Control for a spell's sphere. Every 25 ranks of the appropriate Mana Control allows for one additional multicast, with the base being 1 (a single cast of the spell). For example, at 25 ranks of Elemental Mana Control, a character is able to cast Elemental Defense I twice in one cast.
Similar to use of the MANA command, hybrid casters receive a benefit from training in their secondary Mana Control sphere when multicasting a spell. The spell's circle will dictate the primary Mana Control, and the caster's secondary Mana Control is counted at half ranks.
Hybrid spell circles will count the higher of the two Mana Controls as the primary (full ranks) and the secondary at half ranks. For example, when a sorcerer multicasts Spirit Warding I (101), it will use their Spiritual Mana Control ranks plus half of their Elemental Mana Control ranks. And vice versa when casting Elemental Defense I (401). When casting Cloak of Shadows (712), it will use the higher of the caster's two Mana Controls and count the other one at half ranks.
The syntax to multi-cast is to specify the number of multicasts desired:
