The mana costs for Elemental, Spirit, and Mental Dispel are dependent upon the sphere and level of the spell removed, and pertinent Mana Control ranks. For example, at 24 EMC ranks, Elemental Dispel only takes 5 mana to remove 401, 7 mana to remove 406, and 8 mana to remove 507. Out of sphere is higher, but each of the three spells always targets its respective type first (i.e., Elemental Dispel targets elemental spells), with the exception that [[Arcane Decoy (1701)]] will always be dispelled first. |
|||
When dispelling a spell, the mana cost is 1 mana for every 4 levels of the target spell, and +2 mana when the dispel doesn't match the sphere of the target spell. Every 75 skill in [[Spiritual Mana Control]] reduces the mana cost by 1. Minimum of 1 mana and maximum of 5 mana. |
|||
The mana costs for dispelling a prepared spell or burning a target's mana remain a flat 17 mana, and are NOT affected by mana control. |

Spirit Dispel will have one of the following three effects when cast on a character or creature, in the order presented:
- Cause the target to lose any PREPAREd spell, if any, along with the appropriate number of mana points for that spell. Losing a spell in this manner will sometimes cause the target to suffer nerve damage.
- If the target has no spell prepared, then cause a magical effect in force on the target to be canceled, such as any defensive spell. The mana cost for removing a spell can be reduced by one point for every 75 skill bonus in the Spiritual Mana Control skill.
- If there are no active spells on the target, then cause the target to lose a portion, or all, of their mana.
A sphere interference cascade effect triggers when single dispel spells of different spheres are used on the same target in combination. The second spell cast on a target determines the damage type of the effect. When Spirit Dispel is cast second, it will cause a hazy film around the target to flux chaotically, and trigger plasma damage. The degree of critical caused is level based for the caster vs. target.
When used on an item, the spell may drain charges from the item, dispel any stored spells, or remove some other special ability. It can be used to remove a blessing or temporary ensorcell from a weapon.
When channeled, Spirit Dispel will remove a negative effect spiritual spell from the target. When doing so, it will force the caster into an offensive stance and cause 5 seconds of roundtime.
Mana Control Benefit
When dispelling a spell, the mana cost is 1 mana for every 4 levels of the target spell, and +2 mana when the dispel doesn't match the sphere of the target spell. Every 75 skill in Spiritual Mana Control reduces the mana cost by 1. Minimum of 1 mana and maximum of 5 mana.
The chart on the Mental Dispel (1218) page might be applicable to this spell for one more mana each threshold.

Your spell is ready. > You gesture at an Illoke mystic. An Illoke mystic returns to normal color. The hazy film around an Illoke mystic fluxes chaotically! ... 50 points of damage! The Illoke mystic's leg is consumed in an intense field of plasma reducing it to ash! The Illoke mystic is stunned! Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds. |
