Thagoria was sometimes present as a bolded NPC with automated responses. Thagoria is politically an institutionalist, and as a civil servant, does not subscribe to strong ideological views. But her role in the Rachis is based on implementing the "soft power" foreign policy agenda of the Basilica. This is fundamentally cultural imperialism and interventionism, including subversion of local laws restricting sorcery. |

'''Armata''' |
Thagoria says, "Tredohal was misleading in saying the Armata is the smallest division of the Pentact in peaceful times. Much the same would be true of most nations, for whom the Armata would be deemed immense. House Faendryl has a deep reservoir of paramilitary forces throughout our 'private' economy as well. Veterans are kept on commission to become officers during war, where the legions would swell to levels comparable to Vaalorian conscription." |
'''Basilica''' |
Thagoria says, "The Basilica is the core of the Faendryl government and its commanding heights. It is the Patriarch and his closest advisors, including the Basilican Magistrate, the Archchancellors, and other highest ranking officials. The Rachis is the scaffolding that extends its will." |
'''Clerisy''' |
Thagoria says, "Do not confuse the Clerisy for a single institution such as the Hall of Mages. It is the whole sector of our political economy involving research, academics, artificing, thaumaturgy, valences, the arts and crafts, and the intellectual bulwark supporting the Patriarchy. There is a great deal of imperial power within the Clerisy, as our conquest of the valences and extraction of their resources proceeds through our sorcery." |
'''Demons''' |
Thagoria says, "It is the expressed will and law of the Patriarch that demonic summoning be made normal throughout all civilized cultures of the continent. Not only that, but our sorcery, and Faendryl ideology on the major questions. Much of what I do is in service of this, ultimately under Malevort, who is its chief architect." |
'''Guild''' |
Thagoria says, "Yes. I am a liaison of the Basilica to the sorcerer guilds across Elanith. The Basilican sorcerers intervene upon and regulate the sorcery that is widely available to the masses. This is only one aspect of our shadow influence in these matters. The Basilica tries to control the black market of the dark arts from both ends. It is perfectly normal for us to have reach with fellow travelers in other nations." |
'''Malevort''' |
Thagoria says, "Malevort is the lead Basilican Sorcerer, or if you prefer, the Arch Chancellor of the Clerisy. He is the highest regulatory authority for the sorcerous laws, other than the Patriarch himself. While the Palestra will severely enforce the laws that exist, Malevort has much power to say what is illegal, or when those laws will not be enforced. Needless to say, this brings him into inherent friction with Dracovir, the Prefect of the Palestra." |
'''Palestra''' |
Thagoria says, "The Palestra were once part of the Basilican Guard, counterweights against the Basilican sorcerers. They have long been used against each other to prevent coups. They have since become their own institution within the Rachis, where they act as regulatory oversight throughout the Pentact. They must be present for all sorcery posing a societal risk, which is hindsight in matters of fact, and chance of hazard in foresight. Thus contracting them is insurance for lawfulness." |
Thagoria elaborates, "There is not really such a thing as a private sector. There are only degrees of state intervention. Our institutions are all part of the governance system. I understand the Palestra seem like mercenaries to those outside our culture, but the historical reasons for that are deep and complicated." |
'''Rachis''' |
Thagoria says, "The Rachis is the whole sector of our political economy that is the bureaucracy for enacting the will of the Basilica. I know it is fashionable to say it is strikingly less powerful than the other Pentact divisions, but that is pretty misleading when you consider it has all the powers of criminal enforcement." She explains, "What they mean is that high-ranking members of the Rachis, below the Arch Chancellors, have less autonomy to make up their own regulations and edicts than their counterparts in the other divisions of the Pentact. Which descends all the way to petty officials, little more than clerks, who are mockingly called magnates." |
'''Rhoska-Tor''' |
Thagoria says, "The old places of the Ur-Daemons are riddled with dark cults and dangerous cabalists. House Faendryl has kept all of that suppressed solely by itself since the Undead War. There are several reasons why we do not totally annihilate them. But one of the main reasons is that the perpetual threat keeps the Armata immersed in violence, so that they cannot become inexperienced in war through lack of hostilities." |
'''Shadows''' |
Thagoria says, "These Ithzir invaders are corrupted with the shadows, and apparently come from the Shadows valence. It is a primordial realm birthed from the darkness and chaos of the Ur-Daemon War. I was the one to report their presence to the Basilica, which of course failing to do would get you executed. Malevort has held me here for the time being while some more decisions are made concerning the sorcerer guilds." |

Thagoria Vespiria Faendryl is a Sorcerer Guild Master assigned as a regulatory liaison to sorcerer guilds across the continent by the Basilica, which intervenes in the sorcery that is widely disseminated to the lay population of Elanith. She is a member of Rachis, ultimately under the authority of the lead Basilican Sorcerer, who is the Arch Chancellor of the Clerisy. Thagoria has been known to raffle off minor demon summoning rune teachings
2025 KST Storyline
Thagoria arrived in Wehnimer's Landing in late Eoantos 5125, having recently been in the region for an annual Faendryl Symposium, upon feeling a massive shock wave in the fabric of reality. This was caused by the soulstone of the Palestra Blade Aralyte shooting a beam into the mana storming of Melgorehn's Reach. Thagoria was informed of recent shadows and Ithzir invasions, and the apparent survival of Aralyte after more than ten years in the Shadow Realm. Thagoria returned to New Ta'Faendryl to alert the High Magus on duty, seeking to speak to the Basilican Sorcerer directly.
Thagoria returned to Lake Eonak about a week later to tell the locals she had spoken to higher ranking figures in the Basilica about the shock wave, the Ithzir, the shadows, and the lost Palestra Aralyte. She reported first to Severnus Aviligne Faendryl, High Magus of the Basilica Tower. Through Severnus she was able to speak directly to the Basilican Sorcerer, Malevort Hexmor Faendryl, the Arch Chancellor of the Clerisy.
Thagoria said the Basilica will most likely send investigators. But that the Archchancellors were vying for control over it, due to the complicated politics involved, and their overlapping jurisdictions. The tone of the Basilica's reaction would depend a lot on which of those personalities gets control over the situation. Then she revealed that Malevort had tasked her, related to the soulstone, with distributing the more powerful Sacrifice method through sorcerer guilds across the continent. She instructed the sorcerers present on its conceptual foundations and showed them how it works.

Armata Thagoria says, "Tredohal was misleading in saying the Armata is the smallest division of the Pentact in peaceful times. Much the same would be true of most nations, for whom the Armata would be deemed immense. House Faendryl has a deep reservoir of paramilitary forces throughout our 'private' economy as well.
