Properties

Chaos weapons possess the ability to randomly change enchant bonus, flare, and weighting amount, and can be made into many weapon bases. The enchant bonus varies with each swing. Modification of the weapon ability shifts after each successful strike that employs it for Old style, while New Style weapons change before every swing regardless of hit, miss, or EBP result. The color for both versions corresponds to the ability:

Red: fire flares
Blue: lightning flares
Brown: impact flares
Green: acid flares
White: cold flares
Black: crit weighting
Grey: damage weighting

New Style weapons also have available flares (not available to old style):

Golden: disintegration
Silver: vacuum
Silvery: steam
Crimson: disruption
Silvery-blue: plasma

A flare is not guaranteed to activate with each strike, but it is quite common to see flares on sequential swings. As usual, a fatal hit will not cause a flare no matter the color, and creatures immune to a specific type of damage (e.g. cold) will ignore it as they normally do.

Old Style

LOOK:
The chaos whip seems to be continuiously changing, as if your eyes can't seem to focus on it.
RUB:
As you rub the chaos whip it pulses beneath your fingers. It feels like it is altering its properties even now.

New Style

PUSH:
You push your glaes bastard sword away from you, turning the urnon pommel outward. The urnon pulses, sending black tendrils writhing across the sword's hilt before dissipating.
PULL:
You draw your hand over the hilt of your glaes bastard sword, your fingers lingering on the urnon pommel. At your touch, the metal melts and ripples before reforming.
CLUTCH (attempts to hold the weapon to the current properties):
You wrap your hands around the hilt of your glaes bastard sword and gird your will against the presence emanating from the urnon pommel. A darkness creeps into your vision, and you cede before you black out.

Loresong

This weapon is permeated with magic, but what kind of magic is difficult to discern because its properties keep changing.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the chaos whip in your hand, and you learn something about it...

The first thing that strikes you about the whip is the weight, which is about 4 pounds. In your best estimation, it's worth about 50,000 silvers. You can also tell that the chaos whip is predominantly crafted of urnon.
_____
Your heart no longer beats like the Giantman heart that you have known all your life. And the world seems to be surrounded by the chaos of war. Strange lightings flicker across the sky. Flaming death flies on leathery wings above you. Deadly magics of master and foe burn the air you breathe and the ground beneath you.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the chaos whip in your hand, and you learn something about it...

You sense a faint aura of magic surrounding the whip. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the whip is as some type of weapon.
______
This weapon is permeated with magic, but what kind of magic is difficult to discern because its properties keep changing.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the chaos whip in your hand...

The way it vibrates in tune with your voice tells you that it requires skill in blunt weapons to use effectively. It also has some type of special ability, but you can't tell what yet.
_____
There is something odd about this weapon. For a moment you somehow become a part of the whip. And it somehow becomes a part of you. Your black blood intermingles with the darkening red blood of your victims.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the chaos whip in your hand...

You feel that you have reached the end of the whip's song.
