Murwer, the officiant
Affiliation(s) Devotee of the Dark

Description

You see Murwer the Devotee of Darkness.
He appears to be a Burghal Gnome.
He is short and young. Despite his minuscule stature, he casts an imposing figure. Piercing bright blue eyes stare intently from his heavily lined face. Thin lips pressed into a straight line lend a stern look to his features.
He is in good shape.
Silky robes the color of moonless midnight pool around his slippered feet. Three unassuming silver rings grace his right hand and an elaborate mithril pendant bearing a large bloodstone rests against his chest.

Ceremony

Murwer strides forward, flanked by two attendants in ebon velvet robes. One attendant places a simple wooden dais before those gathered, while the other drapes it in an onyx-inlaid midnight black-colored cloth. Murwer steps toward the dais and raises his hands, waiting for silence.

In a soft, raspy voice that cuts through the silence, Murwer says, "We are all here today to bear witness to the union of GROOM and BRIDE in holy matrimony. Marriage is a covenant, ratified by mortals and glorified by the gods. Present your offerings to Lornon and ask for blessings upon the couple."

Turning to face you, Murwer asks, "Do you, GROOM, take BRIDE to be your wedded companion under the law of the land and in the eyes of the gods of Lornon?"

Turning to face BRIDE, Murwer asks, "Do you, BRIDE, take GROOM to be your wedded companion under the law of the land and in the eyes of the gods of Lornon?"

"So be it," Murwer says coldly. "Two souls, joined as one. That is how some describe marriage, while to others it is a legal and binding contract. To the gods of Lornon, it is a blood rite," he continues. "Blood of my blood, body for body, soul for soul. I pronounce you married under the law and in the eyes of Lornon," he says with a cold stare. Murwer nods to the attendants, signaling the removal of the dais, as he says, "Congratulations. Please enjoy the refreshments prepared for you." He smiles and strides out.

Reject:

"It seems we are at an impasse," states Murwer gravely. "I am afraid we will not be having a wedding today after all, for the gods of Lornon are not forgiving of those that betray their vows. Please feel free to remain and enjoy the refreshments," he says. Murwer nods to the attendants, signaling the removal of the dais as he strides out.
