This article is a work in progress!

Trick Or Treat premiered at the Ebon Gate Festival in 2020 when the venue was still at Caligos Isle as a replacement to Deep Sea Diving.

General Information

Entry into the Trick-or-Treat grounds requires a key purchasable from the SimuCoin store in increments of 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250, and the cost is 100 SimuCoins per entry. Once in the neighborhood, participants KNOCK on doors and earn 10 "treats".

Trick or Treating: Naidem

Location: Endeltime Estates, Neighborhood (Lich #:31980, real #:8086199)

Needs updates for 2022, but some of the info under Caligos should still be relevant.

How to Trick or Treat

First, purchase a key from the SimuCoin store. Then, you enter the Trick or Treat area and are randomly dropped into a room. Find a door and KNOCK on it. Each entry will earn you up to ten "treats." After you've knocked on a door, you won't be able to knock on the same one for thirty seconds. That means you'll need to move around the area to get all your knocks in.

Tricks

Approximately 1 in 4 knocks will be "tricks," where an undead enemy will drag you into a room with them. These enemies are level-appropriate. When looted, they have a small chance to drop a gem or a breakable object containing minor treasure. Tricks do not count against your ten total knocks. In addition to the normal experience for defeating an enemy, you will receive a significant amount of experience at the end of a Trick or Treat run for each trick you faced, which can cause you to become saturated.

Treats

You are guaranteed to receive the following ten "treats" each run from knocks:

  • Eight handfuls of soul shards, each numbering between 35-40 shards (or rarely significantly more)
  • One wrapped piece of candy
  • One "special reward," which may either be a pumpkin-shaped token, a wrapped piece of candy, or an Eve of Reunion invitation

Upon receiving your tenth "treat," you will be immediately healed and returned to the entrance.

Historical Information: Caligos

First, purchase a key from the SimuCoin store. Each key allows for ten treats. The area may be a bit familiar, but it's an old location that is now beached on the shores of Caligos.

You'll get "tricks" approximately 25% of the time that you KNOCK. These will not impact your ten treats. Trick are angered spirits (non-corporeal undead using the zombie base) and do not drop any loot. You'll need to dispatch them before being able to knock again. When the undead spawns, you will automatically target it.

The area is not instanced, and instead uses a new tactic with creatures that debuted this run. The person who knocks is the only person the undead can attack. Anyone else can attack it though, so if you need help, get a friend to come join you! It is recommended to explore the area in pairs or small groups to stay safe. If you run away, the creature will follow you and immediately try to strike you.

If you die inside of the area, you won't be removed. Instead, another player can heal you or the azure-robed ghostly cleric can.

Upon exiting the area, you are healed. You'll also get credit for each undead you kill inside, up to 10, that awards you 100 additional experience (on top of the experience you get for killing the creatures) after you're moved out of the event by finishing your KNOCKs. This can saturate you. If you're already saturated, it will be 25 instant experience (this was lowered from 100 experience in 2020).

Treats

There are multiple treats possible with each KNOCK in addition to the trick (undead creature that attacks).

Occasionally, KNOCKing on the door could result in more seashells. You will sometimes be awarded a small bag of seashells that will be between 100 and 200 seashells. And occasionally you'll be awarded between 1000 and 2000 seashells. There are no special announcements, and the seashells are automatically redeemed. Comparatively, these extra seashells will be quite a bit more frequent than sewer caches at Duskruin Arena.
