She has hip-sweeping, velvety soft raven-hued hair divided into side sections that are gathered and twisted back toward a central clasp where a pale longspine snail seashell streaked with lilac bands anchors the style. The shell appears wedged into the hair as if swept there by a current. She has a softly contoured face, a classical nose and dimpled cheeks. She has a gilt-foiled pearlescent wash brushed onto her manicured fingernails. She has a henna-inked vertical arrow tattoo on her ankle, a slim gold ring dangling a tiny black pearl in her right eyebrow, a blue-green scarab tattoo on her neck, a series of alternating silver and white vaalin hoops in the ridges of both her ears, and a small lockpick tattoo on her finger.

History

Karystal lived a rough childhood. Born to a human father and sylvan mother, she has never felt as though she fit in. Her father abused her as well as her mother as he didn't care for either of them and felt they were a burden on his life. Her mother brought her up as a sylvan, wanting her to know the importance of where her true background lies. When Karystal came of age, her mother sent her away with a pocketful of change and her bow and quiver of newly fletched arrows, wishing her the best and to find an accepting sylvan town. Karystal traveled through many areas, shunned for being a half-sylvan, teaching herself to hunt and live off the lands and in the forests on her own.

After a year of struggling on her own, she came upon travelers. Seeing as how she was on her own, they took her in and gave her a pleasant and secure life on the road. They helped her finesse her skill with a bow, including how to fletch arrows and customize them to her liking properly. She was able to embrace being herself as they loved her for everything she was and felt accepted in this world. Although she still kept the spirit of Sylvankind alive for her mother, she adapted to her new family's culture. Kary was welcomed and became part of the Vanadre Chiras.

Several years later, through her travels with the Vanadre Chiras, she came upon Wehnimer's Landing and was welcomed with open arms there as well. The first house she came across was House Sylvanfair. She met Baser, an elder rogue of the house, who took her in as one of his own, teaching her the ways of a rogue's life. He taught her how to hunt with a sword and shield as an alternate mode of hunting, disarm and pick the locks on treasure boxes, and helped her through several trainings. She was very fond of him and appreciative of everything he did for her. Kary continues to keep in contact with her adopted family and will visit them when they are near to celebrate and join in their festivities.

Romance

Through the years, Karystal dealt with several instances of heartbreak. She had been married once years ago, but her husband had abandoned her without a word. After her last attempt at love had failed, she had started to get distressed that she would remain alone for the rest of her days. She became withdrawn and would spend long hours picking boxes or completing tasks in the guild, isolating herself from everyone. Her friends would coax her out of hiding, only for her to feel false feelings of hope and love. She pined over a giantman cleric for quite a while, but the outgoing, honest, and secure person was no more, and she no longer had the strength to approach him, fearing another rejection.

One day Karystal decided to go back to hunting and headed to town square central. A friend asked her if she'd like to hunt in the Citadel in River's Rest. She had never been there and was always willing to earn favor for Voln so she agreed. Her friend turned and introduced her to the man who was going to escort them. It was the cleric she had been admiring from afar, Drizdark. She blushed and stayed silent after their greetings. However, her friend wound up not joining them, so it was just Karystal and Drizdark. She found herself in unfamiliar territory with someone she had just met and had no idea how to get through it. They hunted for quite a while in the Citadel together. What surprised her was not only that he was a very tender and polite person, they hunted together effortlessly. She was taken aback at how perfectly they worked together without even trying. She felt herself already having feelings for him. Feeling as though this was just part of her insecurity, when they ended their hunt, she quickly thanked him and ran back home.

A few days later, Karystal ran into Drizdark again. He asked her if she'd like to hunt together again. She couldn't resist and immediately agreed. The more they hunted together, the more she felt at ease. She felt protected and safe when she was with him. She was comfortable in his presence and didn't want to miss a moment of how wonderful she felt around him. They soon found themselves drawn to each other. They fell for each other and neither of them knew until Drizdark whispered to her that he was interested in her. She beamed with happiness and they have been inseparable ever since.

Karystal and Drizdark are currently engaged and are planning for a fall wedding. You can usually find them either hunting minotaurs or joining their friends in REIM.
