Arkati Candle

Arkati Candles are two-tier fluff items originally created for the Feast of the Immortals festival. They can be aligned with either the Liabo or Lornon pantheon when fully unlocked. A candle consumes one charge for every 3 minutes that it remains lit. When dropped, a candle is reserved for the character who dropped it for eight hours, although it remains subject to janitor cleanup. Tier 1 Off-the-shelf candles have access to LIGHT and SNUFF. Analyze This candle is an Arkati Candle. When dropped, it may only be picked up by the person who dropped it. If 8 hours pass, anyone can pick it up. It is prone to janitor sweeps. The item may be altered, provided it remains a candle, taper, or exact synonym for the noun. It is not fully unlocked and currently uses the LIGHT and SNUFF verbs. During the Feast of the Immortals and Ebon Gate, any willing merchant may unlock it -- please have in mind if you want the candle to be aligned to Liabo or Lornon. If you are holding the candle in-hand while it is burning, any time it flickers/emits smoke, its light will reveal you (i.e. you will be removed from hiding and/or invisibility whenever idle messaging flares). As the flame steadies, the light recedes slightly, now just the typical flickering of a lit dark grey candle. Lornon Held Holding your dark grey candle close to your body, you quietly chant and light the wick. A chill touches your bones, and the flame doesn't immediately take, instead replaced with an odd blue light seems to want to eat away at the dark grey candle. Finally, the flame catches, though the chill stays with you. Holding their dark grey candle close to their body, Person quietly chants. A vision of dark forms encircle you, their bodies seemingly moving as far away from the light as possible. The flickering illumination of the candle causes the shadows to move about, and you see the darkened faces of the Lornon pantheon just as the vision vanishes. Almost immediately, you feel the weight of the Liabo pantheon looking over you, and though it could just be your imagination, it looks as if they are shaking their heads at you. As you snuff out the light of the dark grey candle and the vision disappears, a feeling of foreboding comes over you. Additional Information LOOK while the candle is lit provides an approximate indication of its remaining burn time. When held, the candle has alternate silent messaging for LIGHT, SNUFF, and TAP. PUSH also has a silent override. Ambient messaging from a candle held in-hand removes the holder from hiding or invisibility. A lit candle produces one of 28 randomized ambient messages every three minutes. These messages depict symbols associated with both pantheons as well as several non-Arkati-specific flame effects. An unlit candle placed on the ground or on a suitable surface is reserved for the character who placed it for eight hours. The reservation does not protect it from janitor cleanup. A lit candle cannot be dropped or picked up. When its final charge is consumed, the candle melts away.
