Silver coins can often be exchanged at a rate of about $8-10 (real money) to the million. Such activity is frowned upon by many members of the [[GemStone IV]] community and advertising for such a transaction should never be made within the game environment. |

The silver coin is the common in-game currency of GemStone IV.
Silver coins weigh approximately 160th of a pound, or 0.1 ounces. As such, carrying many silver coins affects one's encumbrance. Excess silver coins are usually deposited in local banks. For ease of transport, large quantities of silvers that need to be moved are often exchanged for promissory notes.
Values of items are often measured in thousands of silvers. Rare magical items, such as those at or above being enchanted five times, often have their values measured in millions.
