Subject: Beetles Buffed to BCS

Beetles have been updated to the Basic Critter System (BCS). This update includes bringing their poison gas fart maneuver up to modern standards, adding new messaging and making beetles puncture resistant rather than puncture immune.

Non-elemental golems, that is, night, bone, crystal, steel, huge mein and soul golems, have recently been updated to the Basic Critter System (BCS). This update includes, but is not limited to the following features:

  • New maneuvers, plus all old maneuvers have been updated to new standards.
  • Dozens of new messages (thanks to GM Velse).
  • Puncture immunity has been replaced with puncture resistance.
  • Mein golems have been made less devastating. Specifically, their explosion no longer extends to adjacent rooms and its severity has been lessened.
  • Mein shards' weight and value have been revamped.
  • Soul golem treasure has been revamped.
  • And lots of little touches left to your discovery!

This was in reference to their soulstones and dust. Previously, whenever you found one of these items on a soul golem it prevented you from finding any other item. It is now possible to find dust, a soulstone and a box from a single soul golem. I made no adjustment to soul golem boxes.

Subject: What Wrath Wind Wraiths Wrought.

Following a long-deserved blessed boot to the incorporeal rear, the wind wraiths of the Wind Tunnel on Teras Isle have been converted to the Basic Critter System (BCS). This update has made the wind wraith a significantly more formidable opponent, with new messaging, a few new abilities, as well as the sheer fear mechanic inherent to undead creatures on the BCS.

Be prepared as you take the plunge over Lovers' Leap.

Roa'ters, roa'ter wormlings, cave worms, carrion worms and slimy little grubs have been converted to the Basic Critter System (BCS). All of these creatures have received new messaging. Adult roa'ters possess some new tricks in addition to their classic burrowing maneuver (which has been updated to modern standards, but is still as deadly as ever). Additionally, roa'ters are now considered favored enemies of the Guardians of Sunfist. Happy hunting!

Yes. They were prior to this update.

>>Umm, did Roa'ters REALLY need new and improved attacks? Were people complaining that they weren't deadly enough?

With the burrow maneuver now using the standard creature maneuver system, many more factors are in place with the attack making it end up being easier, on average, to avoid. Getting hit with it is still pretty darn nasty, but you're likely to survive longer in front of a roa'ter now. With that change, we thought it was appropriate to include the rare engulf attack (it's far easier to dodge than the burrow, but if it connects, it's very interesting (thanks to GM Mestys for this idea)) and the more frequent knock down, which should be standard for most huge creatures (see giants). The end result is roa'ters are about as deadly as before, just more "fair" and definitely more interesting.
