Zenlynn Veythorne Illistim was a Loremaster of the Dedicated of Lore rank, as well as a very young member of the prominent Veythorne family of House Illistim. Lady Zenlynn volunteered to travel to Solhaven in 5115 Modern Era to assist when Alusius was supposed to be deflecting the Elemental Confluence. When it was too late to stop him, Alusius halted the Confluence, using the vulnerabilities in the Veil to force open a gateway. He wished to become one with the source of elemental power. This immediately led to tears ripping open the fabric of reality throughout the continent, leaving many unhealed elemental instabilities resulting from planar intersections with the nexus and changing the world forever.
Zenlynn was horrified that a mortal would misuse Illistim lore for such a mad purpose, imposing enormous liabilities at the expense of the whole world. She believed he used their research to cause what happened, rather than merely using the collected elemental power in an unintended way. She survived the elemental onslaught that followed from the valencial rupture, and returned to Ta'Illistim so the Loremasters could begin studying the true extent of the damage unleashed.
Quotes
- Arrival of The Confluence
A point of light forms in the sky, rippling and crackling, bright as the sun but much smaller. As it draws nearer, it resolves into a sweeping current of energy, red and gold in turns, chaotic in its dancing but inexorable in its motion. Malvernus glances up. Zenlynn gazes in wonder at her surroundings. Alusius asks, "Do you still doubt me, Elanthians?" Alusius points skyward. Alusius says, "It comes for me. It comes for us all." Zenlynn says, "The Mirror believes you."
The Alusius Incident
Alusius says, "It is not what any of you think." Zenlynn says, "There is much I think." Alusius coldly says, "It is destruction, yes, but it is also a source. THE source." Malvernus says, "Be careful what you do, with that much energy bound within him, the reaction could be extremely adverse." Alusius rants, "It is the heartbeat, the birthplace of all elemental magic!" Zenlynn blinks at Alusius. Zenlynn says, "Something no mortal should touch." Zenlynn says, "You should not...." Zenlynn stares at Alusius. Alusius croons to the skies, "I missed you on Bre'Naere. So close, so near to being one with the power... but here, I will not fail." Speaking to Alusius, Zenlynn says, "You have read our tomes and research. You KNOW you should not." The very air begins to thin, growing stretched, tattered. Alusius stares at a point of elemental instability. Zenlynn says, "The research.... the pages and the lore... no...." Rapidly developing in the heart of the sky, a whirlpool of dense blue-black clouds blots out any traces of daylight that reigned across the lands moments before. Malvernus says, "He is focusing. But he is not pushing the Confluence away." Zenlynn says, "He is bringing it here." Alusius says, "This was the ideal place, of course. A breach has already occurred here." Zenlynn shakes her head. Mynon curiously asks, "Does he think to...absorb it?" Speaking to Mynon, Alusius says, "No. I will become ONE with it." Alusius lets out a desperate, sobbing laugh. Zenlynn says, "The knowledge you took from our libraries. You caused this..." Alusius steps toward the point of elemental instability. Tendrils of magic reach out to embrace him like a long-lost lover. The darkening mass churns and writhes in the heavens, finally expanding into attenuated fingers of smoke that branch outward from the formation. As the clouds dissipate, the remaining light is distorted into an eerie glow that cloaks everything in a deep violet-blue haze. Malvernus says, "He wants the Confluence." Speaking to Alusius, Malvernus says, "It will destroy you. Stop this before it is too late." Alusius quietly says, "Good luck, all of you. Perhaps I'll see you on the other side." Alusius steps into the point of instability, and vanishes. Heavy, pulsating convulsions erupt from somewhere beneath the ground, the rippling aftershocks working jagged cracks in the surface of the earth. * The cry of Alusius echoes in your mind! Malvernus winces. The sky appears to split open like the brittle shell of an egg. A breathtaking scene of silver-white lightning bolts through massive torrents of rain, wind, and airborne hailstones. Speaking to Malvernus, Zenlynn says, "He does not understand how this must end, only his own desired ending."
