Custom Transference
Custom Transference is a type of advanced spell customization that changes the messaging associated with the Transference (225) spell. Pre-written custom Transference messaging is available at various festivals, pay events, and at Bayview Villa on Mist Harbor. Fully custom Transference messaging is a delayed service when the player is writing their own. Custom Transference is part of the Player Customization System and is managed via the CUSTOM verb.
Custom Transference messaging consists of first person messaging for when the spell is cast plus third person messaging for both the departure and arrival rooms.
Examples of custom Transference messaging include the following from Rumor Woods:
1P: A shimmering sphere of iridescent, swamp green light appears. Hundreds of tiny red frogs pour through the sphere, surrounding you and nudging you through it to the melodic susurration of their croaking chorus...
3P, departure: A shimmering sphere of iridescent, swamp green light appears, and hundreds of tiny red frogs pour through it. They surround {Character} and nudge her through the sphere. As soon as she is gone, the sphere and its frogs disappear in a chorus of melodic croaks.
3P, arrival: A shimmering sphere of iridescent, swamp green light appears, and hundreds of tiny red frogs pour through, {Character} arriving in their midst. As soon as she is out of the sphere, it and its frogs disappear in a chorus of melodic croaks.
1P: An ethereal group of chanting cultists manifests all around you. One gestures enigmatically, and several vines of ivy reach up and pull you away...
3P, departure: An ethereal group of chanting cultists manifests all around {Character}. One gestures enigmatically, and several vines of ivy appear and pull her away.
3P, arrival: An ethereal group of chanting cultists manifests in a tight-knit circle, a pillar of ivy vines at their center. One cultist gestures enigmatically, and the group disappears. As the ivy shimmers out of existence, {Character} appears.
1P: Glittering and pulsating, several aurora-hued will-o-wisps wink into existence and swarm around you. They are cool to the touch, their lights swirling fast and faster as they condense around you. You feel yourself being lifted and ferried away amid their ethereal forms.
3P, departure: Glittering and pulsating, several aurora-hued will-o-wisps wink into existence and swarm around {Character}. Their colors begin to oscillate, swirling faster and faster as they condense around her and, in the blink of an eye, she is gone.
3P, arrival: Materializing out of thin air, several pulsating will-o-wisps descend upon the area. Their aurora hues bathe everything near them in fuchsia, lilac, and mint green lights. As swiftly as they appeared, they blink out of existence, leaving behind {Character}.
1P: Dark wings suddenly envelop you, their leathery texture and angular joints feeling rough and sharp against your skin. They constrict around you, hugging you tight before opening and releasing you in new surroundings
3P, departure: Dark wings suddenly appear out of nowhere and envelop {Character}. They constrict, obscuring her from view and then depart so abruptly that it is impossible to discern where they came from.
3P, arrival: Dark and leathery, a cocoon suddenly appears. Suddenly parting, the cocoon seems to unfurl, revealing itself to be two leathery wings that are holding {Character} in a tight embrace. As they release her, they disappear completely from sight.
1P: Building into an all-encompassing glow, your skin gives off a wave of radiant light that lifts you up and away.
3P, departure: Building into an all-encompassing aura, {Character}'s skin emits a glow of radiant light that eventually lifts her up and away.
3P, arrival: Appearing as a pinpoint of light at first, radiant energy materializes in the air and grows into a humanoid shape. As the light dissipates, {Character} is revealed.
