Moravius Faendryl is a Harrower of the Extrachthonic Cartographer's Guild, which is part of the Clerisy of House Faendryl. He was tasked with studying the veil in the Darkstone Bay region, at the beginning of 5126 Modern Era, as part of the investigation into shadowy Ithzir invasions and the lost Palestra Blade Aralyte Halanori Faendryl. Moravius was primarily concerned with identifying if it is possible to safely access the Shadow Realm valence from various locations, given the possible extraction or destruction of Aralyte, or if it is necessary to travel there to deal with the Ithzir threat.

Moravius is descended from an old high born family of the upper class, and named after a famous ancestor, but he has no interest in politics and worldly affairs. He is not impressed by ranks or titles. He is independently wealthy and does not care about money. He is only interested in his valencial studies, and getting back to what he ordinarily does, rather than being stuck in a prestigious task force under the direction of the Basilican Sorcerer.

He appears to be a Faendryl Dark Elf.
He is taller than average. He appears ageless. He has dark-rimmed jade green eyes and deep umber skin. He has shoulder length, unruly silver hair only partially tamed into a single braid. He has a fine-boned face, an aquiline nose and tall upswept pointed ears.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing an intricate twisted faenor headband, a banded chalcedony cameo, a whorled black leather case, some silver-shot ebon bourde robes with a grey silk tunic notched at the high collar underneath, a bezel-set ruby and silver signet ring, some jet leather leggings, and a pair of polished black leather boots.

Moravius says, "I am not acquainted with this lost Palestra.  Hopefully this will be over soon."

Moravius says, "Harrower Ersix was involved in severing the roots of some demonic blood eating trees.  He moved the core of it into a forest to the south.  Why he did not just drop it in the Shadow Realm is beyond my understanding."

Ithzir
Moravius says, "The Ithzir do not need come through the lake itself.  When the mana storm becomes more intense, the veil is bleeding into the valence of Shadows."

Lake Eonak
Moravius says, "This lake was made into a portal to the Shadows by the Palestra Blade Aralyte.  She used the Staff of Ith'can."

Moravius says, "Malevort is intimidating and holds power few could ever rival.  It would not surprise me if he becomes Patriarch one day."

Moravius touches his headband and says, "These are not allowed outside of our borders.  Which obviously does not mean other valences, which would defeat the whole point of them.  But some exceptions are in effect."

Moravius glances at the mountain and looks up into the storm.  He says, "Reckless.  This should never have happened.  Even our panoptics are all but useless because of it."

Shadows
Moravius says, "It is the dose that makes the poison.  Shadow essence from ordinary sorcery is all but harmless.  But in high intensity it is mutagenic and cursed."

Moravius says, "I do not care about politics."

Vortelis
Moravius says, "I am probing the veil here for Harrower Vortelis.  We have to assess how dangerous it would be to enter the Shadow Realm from various places."

Bleaklands
Moravius says, "There are sinkholes in the veil in the Bleaklands due to the intensity of shadows.  I was studying them for viability as stable gateways for breaching the Shadows valence.  But that soulstone formed a conduit with this storm, even from that far away, threatening to collapse the veil in a totally uncontrolled fashion."

Blight
Moravius asks, "The blight is an aspect of the Bleaklands, or perhaps, the Bleaklands is an aspect of the blight.  It is not at all obvious that this Raznel made the blight.  Her bleakstone statue may have merely co-opted it.  The blight that was worked by Therendil, the demonic cultist, to bring forth the Shadows.  Had you not considered it?"

Capture
Moravius says, "When we capture one of the shadow entities whole, we will test to see if there is some 'dead Ithzir' quality to them.  Extraplanar entities often use the flesh or animate matter of victims in our world for incarnating themselves.  We will also exploit it as a mana tracer through the veil."

Deadfall
Moravius says, "The Deadfall forest and Lich's Landing are impractical breach points.  The Deadfall is sealed off, hostile, a stronghold with the Emerald Sun.  Where Ersix had removed its root maw originally, by the Lich Landing, is collapsed with rubble and out of phase with this world.  There is no particular reason to think it, or that obelisk, would be especially useful.  But that is in the phylactery chamber near a lich's throne room.  Better to use Lake Eonak."

Entanglement
Moravius says, "The storm is powering the cycles of interplanar collisions.  The Shadows valence is bound up here, and the Bleaklands, as well as other places.  It is being pulled together like entangled ropes.  This Palestra Blade Aralyte, of course, punched through the veil.  But it had already been weakened with blight and black trees."

Invasion
Moravius says, "It is senseless to have us fight invasion forces.  Those are the times we make the most progress in our research.  They are in all likelihood only projected manifestations in this valence, merely being banished when struck down.  It would be utterly counter-productive to waste those windows on pointless combat."

Palestra
Moravius smirks, "Yes.  It is very prestigious for the Basilica to assign Palestra to a summoner, and high profile summoners will hire multiple Palestra for themselves.  They are trying to discover new entities, for individual fame and prestige, getting themselves in the Book of Records.  For the Harrowers this is nothing.  The Palestra are a lot of red tape, unless we have special need of them.  Their interference slows everything down.  There is no society for them to protect in the demonic valences."

Recharging
Moravius says, "Vortelis will settle on some middle ground option, recharging the soulstone gradually, in a more tame region of the Bleaklands.  The way he was doing it was too hazardous.  There are no good options.  It is safest to leave it depleted until we need it, but it is too dangerous to recharge rapidly."

Shadow Realm
Moravius says, "We will likely have to harrow the Shadows valence multiple times.  It is unlikely the core of our issue will be in its surface layer.  What you see in such realms is an irreality, which obscures much else of what exists.  Hopefully it will turn out the Ithzir and Aralyte are conjoined issues, even if it gives us Palestra headaches."

Soulstone
Moravius says, "Vortelis was keeping that soulstone away from this mountain with its storm.  But it would seem if it is near a rift to the Shadows valence at all, it will form a conduit and try to force the way.  It turned out to be worse to bring it deep into the Bleaklands, because of how rotted out the veil is there to the Shadow Realm."
