Stance of the Mongoose is a Martial Stance combat maneuver available to Monks and Warriors. If the defender successfully parries an attack while in a forward or greater stance, he or she may launch an automatic retaliatory melee or unarmed strike at -2 RT. The chance to launch this retaliatory strike is 50/75/100% at ranks 1/2/3, and such strikes are limited to once every (6 - Rank) seconds.

Starting:
>cman mong You assume the Stance of the Mongoose, ready to retaliate instantly against your foes. (Monk assumes the Stance of the Mongoose.)
Stopping:
>stop stance You relax from the Stance of the Mongoose, no longer ready to retaliate instantly against your foes. (Monk relaxes and no longer maintains the Stance of the Mongoose.)
Retaliatory attack:
A ghostly pooka tries to bite you! As you parry a ghostly pooka's attack, you see an opportunity for immediate retaliation! You swing a vultite flamberge at a ghostly pooka! AS: +317 vs DS: +139 with AvD: +41 + d100 roll: +76 = +295 ... and hit for 115 points of damage! A strong blow cleaves the left wrist! The hand dangles, spinning slowly, and then snaps back in place! You hear a sound like a weeping child as a white glow separates itself from the ghostly pooka's body as it rises, disappearing into the heavens. The ghostly pooka ceases all attempts at movement. The dim aura fades from around a ghostly pooka. Roundtime: 3 sec.
