Aveern is a Wedding Officiant that performs wedding ceremonies for those that purchase a wedding package from the Simucoin Store during Rings of Lumnis, Duskruin, Rumor Woods, or Ebon Gate.

Description

You see Aveern the High Priest of Mularos.
He appears to be a Human.
He is slight and of an average height and middle aged. He has deep sepia brown eyes and dark brown skin. He has long, wavy mahogany hair pulled back with a tanned leather tie. A light webwork of silvery scars is revealed along his exposed flesh.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing some wide-sleeved robes of niveous silk trimmed in carmine braiding, an unadorned black cloth sash, a glinting ruby dagger symbol suspended from an ornate gold chain, and a pair of simple stiff leather shoes.

Ceremony

With a solemn, sweeping gesture, Aveern raises his arms into the air before you and BRIDE in a gesture of welcoming benediction. The full sleeves of his white silk robe fall back to his elbows, revealing a faint tracery of silvery scars along the dark flesh of his exposed arms.

In a clear, tenor voice, Aveern intones, "Sorrower's Faithful and allies of Lornon, respectful guests and all others who wish these two well, I welcome you to this holy place." He drops his arms to his sides briefly, then clasps his hands in front of him, the belled sleeves of his garment falling back into place to conceal them.

"For this time, we are here to witness the joining of GROOM and BRIDE in a lifelong commitment to each other," Aveern continues in a quieter tone, the ghost of a smile playing over his lips before his expression stills back into solemnity.

Aveern turns and faces you before asking, "Do you, GROOM, allow yourself to willingly suffer, binding yourself thusly to BRIDE and granting her the power to hurt you over all others in the world? And, while there will be pain, it will make the moments of joy all the sweeter for having endured them."

Aveern turns and faces BRIDE before asking, "Do you, BRIDE, allow yourself to willingly suffer, binding yourself thusly to GROOM and granting him the power to hurt you over all others in the world? And, while there will be pain, it will make the moments of joy all the sweeter for having endured them."
Success
Drawing a sharp, jagged knife from concealment in the sleeve of his robe, Aveern takes first the hand of BRIDE in his own, palm-up, followed by yours. He makes a short, deep cut in each of your palms, then presses your hands together so that the wounds meet.

Aveern takes a few steps back and flicks the knife, causing several droplets of blood to fall to the ground before you and BRIDE in reverence. "To love is to open yourself willingly to suffering and pain," he murmurs, sheathing the blade up his sleeve once more. Aveern takes a braided cord of tri-colored silk from a nearby acolyte.

Clasping your hands together firmly to encourage the blood to flow, Aveern begins to wind the silken cord about your joined hands. Droplets of crimson stain the snowy white part of the braid, darkening the carmine strand to a deep sanguine, and leave no trace on the inky darkness of the black. When done, he sets his hands gently around yours and BRIDE's, on top and on the bottom, and glances up to meet your eyes.

Aveern raises a single hand in blessing, tracing the heart-and-dagger of Mularos in the air before him. "May you find that the bliss you will experience together is worth the suffering that will make it possible. Go forth into your new life as a wedded couple." He releases your hands from his own and unbinds them before turning and leaving the area.
Rejection
Aveern takes a few steps back from you and BRIDE and intones, "To bind yourself to someone with a willingness to take on the suffering that comes with it is a serious commitment. When one is not sure, it is best to not proceed, lest you face the wrath of Mularos. May you both find enough pain in your choices and offer it to him." Aveern slightly bows at the waist before turning and leaving quietly.
