- Jousting - There are two entrances to jousting. One will support the Beetle Team and the other the Spider Team. When you enter, you select your equipment (though you can use your own) and a mount (though you can use your own). From there you

- Present your sunburst marker at the entry table. (GO ENTRY TABLE)
- Select a mount from the paddock. (GET [MOUNT])
- Select a lance from the weapon rack. (GET [LANCE])

Areas of Interest at Rumor Woods:
- The Aspen Grove has multiple Inn Room-like tents scattered throughout the area as the Aspen Grove itself is just like an Inn. There is a Tavern w. Tables, drinks and food.
- Summit Academy is a college. It has an Ellipse at its heart that is for socializing and getting warm drinks.

This season’s theme draws inspiration from sunbaked sands and wind-carved horizons, bringing a new palette and a new spirit to the woods. As always, our offerings will remain varied, but many of this year’s highlights carry a distinctly desert flavor.
The tournament returns with a new rivalry: Scorpion versus Jerboa.
Each side will bear its own colors:
- A beige jerboa on a field of myrtle green,
- A jet black scorpion on a field of copper,
This year’s festival mount will be the scorpion, accompanied by new lore released alongside it.
For a special twist, the Fox Hunt will change its quarry for one year only. Instead of the fox, participants will have the chance to win a jerboa pet.
Prefer not to run the hunt? No worries. The jerboa will also be available through Ewe Vixen.
Sands are shifting. Rivalries are stirring.

The last of the scaffolding had come down three days prior, and the landing smelled of fresh-cut stone and linseed oil. The arrow slits had been fitted with glass, their new panes catching the pale alpine light and scattering it in clean lines across the floors. The writing desk, dark and well-oiled, sat precisely where Diriko had placed it on the first day, as though it had always belonged there.
She received the dean of Summit Academy as she received everyone, with stillness, with patience, and with tea that she had prepared before he had finished climbing the stairs.
He was not an unkind man. She had taken care to note that in the years since her arrival. He managed the Academy with the weary competence of someone who had long since traded ambition for endurance, and she respected that quietly, as she respected most things quietly. He accepted the tea, settled into the chair she had placed for him, and began.
Sylinar's name entered the room like bad weather.
She listened without expression as the dean laid out his grievances with the careful precision of a man who had rehearsed them on the stairs. Attendees arriving with devices in need of attention. Requests submitted and unanswered. Correspondence returned unopened or not returned at all. The reputation of the Academy, he said, resting his teacup on his knee, was not well served by a man who could not be found when he was needed. He had sent word four times. Four times. Sylinaar was nowhere to be found.
Diriko folded her hands in her lap and let him finish.
When the last of it had settled into the room, she rose in a single smooth motion and moved to the nearest arrow slit. Below, the grounds of Summit Academy spread themselves in the late afternoon light, the old hedgerows casting long shadows across the cobbled paths. A groundskeeper moved along the far edge, tending to the snow and ice in turn. A student crossed from the east dormitory with her nose in a book, nearly walked into a post, and corrected herself without looking up.
Diriko watched, and said nothing.
The silence stretched. Behind her, she heard the dean shift in his chair. The small sound of his teacup being set carefully on the desk. Another shift.
When she turned, her smile was patient and warm, the smile of a woman who had seen a great deal and found most of it more interesting than alarming.
"I understand your frustration," she said, returning to her place with the unhurried ease of someone navigating familiar waters. "Sylinar's absence has been an inconvenience, and I do not diminish that." She settled, smoothed the front of her sky blue robe, and met his eyes with her own, clear and steady. "But I would ask you to set that frustration aside, because it is no longer necessary."
The dean opened his mouth.
She continued, gently.
"I worked at that man's side for longer than this Academy has stood. What he knows of enhancives, of charge and capacity and permanency, I know also. What he can do with a device brought to him in need, I can do here, at this desk, in this tower, which is no longer his." She paused, letting her words sink in with measured stillness. "Your attendees need not wonder where to bring their concerns. They need only climb these stairs."
She folded her hands into the sleeves of her robes and let the silence return, though this time it was a different kind entirely and she did not let it linger nearly as long.
"More tea?" she asked.
The famed erithi Diriko, will be available in Sylinaar's tower throughout the festivities to offer the same services that Sylinaar does at Ebon Gate.

Beneath the shifting sands of the Sea of Fire and Southron Wastes, as well as the suffocating canopy of the southern jungles and elsewhere throughout Elanthia, a silent watcher lies in wait. The scrape of chitin against stone and the sharp whistle of a raised stinger descending are often the only warnings a traveler receives before encountering one of the more intimidating members of the arachnid world -- the scorpion. Scorpions have occupied the dark corners of Elanthia since the ancient ages, outlasting empires and surviving cataclysms that claimed far softer creatures.

After careful review, we are making the following adjustment:
- Fox Hunt - This year you will have a 50/50 chance to find a Songbird Egg instead of a Bugle. Starting next year, you will only be able to find a Songbird Egg.
- Pixie Hunt - This year, you'll have a chance to find a Jerboa Rainstick instead of a Bell.

Slowly, over the week, we will be releasing information about scorpions and adding them here. Once we have finished posting the information, we will open the forum for discussion. Please refrain from asking questions until we've finished sharing. Sharing is dependent upon release from QC, which is why we will be trickling the data.
- Saddles - Yes, scorpions will be getting saddles. I should be able to tease these tomorrow. You can look for them in the shop called "Insurmountable". Much like tortoises, there will be two varieties. In nature, they are Tehir or Faendryl in origin.
- Scorpion Mounts - Sunscar Sanctum will house the 6 types of scorpions available. They are:

[Rumor Woods 2026] - Songbirds Are Here!
Songbirds Are Here! , Now in Elanthia -- Songbirds -- found in the new Rumor Woods shop, Song Sung Blue. Each songbird hatches from a unique egg with its own combination of body plumage, wing accents, crest color, tail feathers, and eye color -- over nine million possible appearances. No two birds should look quite the same.
Hatching, Your songbird begins life as a simple egg that hides its colorful inner shell and bird. Simply EXHALE on it to bond, and watch as the shell cracks and your new companion emerges, shaking off fragments and greeting you with its first chirp. The eggshell becomes a tiny whistle adorned with feathers in your bird's colors -- your way to call them back whenever you need.
A Companion with more life!, Songbirds aren't just cosmetic. They're living their best life, and they act like it.
They get hungry. Feed them foraged seeds or live insects to keep them healthy and vibrant. A well-fed bird is colorful and lively; a neglected one grows thin, patchy, and eventually falls comatose -- though a meal will always bring them back., They hunt on their own. Personality, Your songbird has opinions about the people around you. It'll chirp friendly greetings and drop tiny gifts at the feet of people it likes -- and pointedly turn its back and fluff its tail feathers at those it doesn't. It might land briefly on a friend's shoulder to say hello, or tuck its head under its wing to ignore someone it finds disagreeable.
Pet-to-Pet Interactions, Songbirds are social creatures. When two songbirds meet, they might burst into a spontaneous duet, preen each other's feathers, or chase each other in playful aerial spirals. They also interact with other pet types -- riding a fox's tail, landing between a lamb's ears, stealing shiny things from lizards, and engaging in dramatic aerial showdowns with dragonflies.
For Bards, If you're a bard, your songbird is your duet partner. It listens to how you play and matches your style -- singing a mournful accompaniment to somber melodies, chirping rapid-fire alongside fast tempo pieces, or belting out a rousing harmony when you play something inspiring. It'll even try to sing along during loresinging (emphasis on try).
Message Delivery, Write a message on a slip of parchment, and your songbird will carry it across town to another player -- up to three times a day. It'll swoop down to the recipient, chirp brightly, and drop the note at their feet before winging its way back to you.
Shoulder Perch & Verbs, Wear your songbird on your shoulder where it'll nestle in, preen its feathers, and occasionally nod off. You can also PET, RUB, TICKLE, KISS, HUG, and POKE your bird (results vary). And yes -- very rarely, your shoulder companion will leave you a little... surprise. Nothing a good RUB won't fix.

This Rumor Woods, the Basketifier is getting an additional unlock. This new tier, Tier 5, will unlock the ability to have Tableware additions to your basket.
After unlocking the basket, you will see a new analyze addition:
SPECIAL TABLEWARE UNLOCK Because your basket has been unlocked to the 5th tier, you are now able to add utensils, plates, saucers, or napkins with special certificates. To see which you already have installed, please GAZE at the basket. In Basket Form: WHISPER - To obtain a single copy of the item. GAZE - To see the full list of unlocked tableware items. In Table Form: * Upon becoming a table, your tableware items will be stacked on the table. * GET will allow you, or anyone using your table, to obtain a tableware item. All tableware items are marked as junk to allow you to throw them away when you are near trash barrels. This includes the trash basket stored under your table when it is out. Throwing away a tableware item does not destroy those contained in your basket.
In addition to this new tier 5 unlock, you may purchase tableware vouchers that will add the specific type to your basket. For example:
- You glance down to see a monogrammed white voucher in your right hand and a lace-edged slate blue napkin elegantly embroidered with kissing wrens in your left hand.
You analyze the white voucher and sense that the creator has provided the following information:
Basketifier Tableware Voucher
A monogrammed white voucher is designed to allow you to add specific types of items to your basket. This particular voucher has been created to allow you to add a napkin to a Basketifier basket that is at least Tier 5.
Alterations
Any willing merchant may modify this voucher, however, you can also ADD a napkin that is predesigned to your voucher. [Syntax: ADD {my} {tableware type} to {my} voucher.] Be warned, this will consume your item. Your tableware item may have a long or show.

You point your white voucher at a monogrammed white voucher, allowing the magic stored within the tiny piece of paper to do its thing. After several seconds, the voucher turns into motes of light that descend upon the basket, dissolving into its form.

Lastly, GM Vanah and Elysani paired up to create an NPC that will work on adding long descriptions to the aforementioned items. This NPC works the same as the other +long description NPCs, charging a nominal fee for the work.

You analyze the slate grey napkin and sense that the creator has provided the following information: Basketifier Napkin Created by a Basketifier, the napkin is a disposable item. You may alter it at your own risk, but be warned that it will not be replaced if you throw it away. It has access to the following verbs: DUST (flick crumbs off clothing), PUSH (clean a spot on chest-worn), RUB (clean mouth), EXHALE (catch a sneeze), CRY (dab tears), TAP (dab lips), and WAVE (be a bit dramatic)

From the land of miscommunication and additional lettering, I humbly present a new Rumor Woods shop for 2026: Dessert Vibes!
Found in an auspicious driftwood shack off a broad caravan trail, Confectioner Brixxior and his financial backer, Gentleman Hoorne, invite you to enjoy a taste of the wastes.
Within and upon our very clean surfaces, you'll find a plethora of confectionary delights that you'll want to preserve in your basketifiers for generations to come. Sweet, sweet scorpions? Check. Sugary serpents? You bet. A marzipan jerboa? So cute you must devour. A candied troll toe? Uh oh.
The main attraction, however, is a new fun, fluffy, and sugar-dusted sartorial delight: Tasty Hands Clothing.
Tasty Hands Clothing are front-worn aprons that can be stuffed full of tasty treats. You can use one of a few different verbs to interact with any confections stored inside. For example, here's what happens with you FIDGET with an apron:

You reach into the pocket at the front of your candy pattern apron, running your hand over some links of greasy sausage. You then bring the greasy sausage up to your nose and inhale with all your might. Closing your eyes, you sigh deeply as the fragrances of the sausage lingers in your nostrils and on your hands. Eyes still closed, you quickly slip the morsel back into your apron.
Want to change targets, just TURN your apron!

You've decided to turn your focus away from some links of greasy sausage and instead focus on a candied troll toe.
Now, sample the delicate flavors within to your heart's content without consuming a charge of the food!
Hoorne reaches into a sugar-dusted candy pattern apron and carefully selects a candied troll toe from within. Bringing the toe up to his mouth, he takes a big lick. He takes a deep breath, his eyes unfocused as if he is contemplating the flavors of the toe. Then, nodding in satisfaction, he slips the toe back into his apron.
This will allow you to enjoy delicious flavor messaging to your heart's content!

You reach into a sugar-dusted candy pattern apron and carefully select a candied troll toe from within. Bringing the toe up to your mouth, you take a big lick. Oh no. Was that a mistake? A wave of sweet sugar leads out a funky, metallic aftertaste that lingers on the tongue. Notes of wet garbage, blooming fungus, and pungent blood soon overwhelm the senses.
Nodding in satisfaction, you slip the toe back into your apron.
Tasty Hands Clothing items can be altered, but must remain something reasonable and front-worn. They come fully unlocked for a mere 1,000 raikhen.

Whether you just like to smell the roses to collect flora as an occasional hobbyist to a professional botanist, we bring you Dhu Impress, a new shop for Rumor Woods 2026!
Find that special blossom you've been searching for, put it in your flower press and give it a turn -- voilà -- a dried, permanent specimen for you to affix into your journal.
Organize them by genus, color, location... however you desire!
Created in 2004, the Dhu Impress flower press was built for the famed voyages of the Dhu Gillywack. It was sold with a portfolio that allowed you to store the flowers on the center of pages and then you could show them off to folks.
Twenty-two years later, we were asked to add an analyze to them, and update them we did, so that they could be offered again.
The Dhu Impress flower press is unchanged in its functionality. You place a flower inside, turn to press it, and then you can add it to your keepsakes (journals for this run).
The portfolio, however, has been updated with some new tricks.
Previously, you could turn the page, show the book, and place the flowers only. Now it has been updated with the follow actions:
