The Resonant Hull, Deck

[The Resonant Hull, Deck] Room: 7134272
Weathered cypress and aged cedar form this double-masted vessel, its hull and railings lacquered in deep vermilion. Two angular fin-shaped sails rise from the deck like the wings of a folding screen, while the vessel's heart houses a small-roofed chamber, its sliding paper-paneled screens and graceful hipped roof framed by natural wood planking. Bare plank decking runs stem to stern between carved rail posts, where a narrow boarding ramp extends like an outstretched hand.

Sliding paper-paneled screens line three faces of the chamber, their pale latticed surfaces diffusing light evenly across the interior. The rear wall stands in contrast, solid cypress planking running floor-to-ceiling in continuous grain, supporting the racks and stands arranged before it and along the side walls, while two woven mats sit toward the center, flanking a low cypress table. Providing accenting hues, vermilion trim follows the base of each wall and the screen rails above.
