The Spidersilk Apothecary is a fluff crafting and storage script that applies to miscellaneous items. It was originally released at Ebon Gate 2025. It stores and allows use of up to 80 Apothecary Spiders, which can apply an alteration or transmorphing effect to an eligible item.

Analyze

You analyze the shadow box and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

The Spidersilk Apothecary
Found in Naidem, the box is an octagonal contraption that provides customizations to specific items based on the spiders it has stored inside of it. These spiders perform their magic best when a web is at the heart of the box. These special spiders can be found by searching through a web in Graveyard Temporalis, Outer Rim (eastern side).

How the Apothecary Works
PUT - a spider (or up to 80 different ones) into the apothecary
GAZE    - to view all of the alteration spiders stored inside by type {ie: wood, stone, etc.}
GLANCE - to view all of the transmorphing spiders stored inside
LOOK - to see the status of the apothecary
PEER - to display a full list of all spiders stored in the apothecary
PINCH - to create a web inside the apothecary
PLUCK - to remove the spider that is on display
TICKLE - to cause the stored item inside to be transformed by a spider
TURN - to 1, 2, or 3 in order to cycle through alteration designs (alteration spiders only)
TWIST - to add an item that you want the spiders to modify
WHISPER - cycle through the spiders and/or prepare a spider for removal

It can house 80 unique spiders in total. Currently: 10 of 80.

BREAK - Destroy the apothecary
PROD - Make the apothecary unable to be destroyed

CHARGES - the apothecary is charged by the web spell. You can either cast it at the box or wave a wand at it to add charges. It currently has 96 out of 100 charges stored inside.

Alterations
The box cannot be altered in anyway, but the spiders can. Please pay special attention to them.

Attunement:
An octagonal ebonwood shadow box is an attuned item. It may only be used by Person.

Usage Information

The apothecary must be held, worn, or PLACEd at your feet to use most verbs. PINCH uses one charge to spin a web, TWIST places the item in your other hand on the web, and TICKLE has the spider on display do its work. The web collapses after each successful TICKLE. The apothecary must already house the appropriate Apothecary Spider in order to use the spider's effect.

Raising an octagonal ebonwood shadow box above your head, you suddenly hurl it at the floor with all your might. It smashes into a million pieces, the one spider stored inside rushing off into the shadows. Pushing through the broken pieces, you pull free a shimmering violet orb and then scrape the rest away with a brush of your foot.

LOOK No web Meticulously crafted, the octagonal shadow box is framed in glossy ebonwood. Its back wall is fitted with a smoky, obsidian mirror that seems to absorb all light. Eight tiny, glinting silver anchors rest within the corners, their tips curled so that the ring is almost closed. Additional Information

The Spidersilk Apothecary is charged by casting Web (118) at it or by using a wand containing that spell. It holds 80 unique Apothecary Spiders and 100 charges. Each cast of Web (118) adds 18 charges, and each web made with PINCH uses one charge. Additional spiders can be stored inside a House of Spider.

The apothecary is attuned to its owner. Only the owner can use GAZE, GLANCE, PEER, TICKLE, TWIST, or PLUCK with it. PLUCK only works after the apothecary has been made permanent with PROD.

Alteration spiders only work on unscripted items or on scripts that allow alterations. Metallurgy spiders will not work on rare metals, on metals that cannot be dyed, or on items already made of the spider's metal. No spider can turn an item into a rare metal.

BREAKing an unprotected apothecary permanently destroys it and gives an experience orb. Any stored spiders are lost.

Restrictions

The apothecary itself cannot be altered in any way. Only its spiders can.
