The '''Shield Cape''' was released at the August 2019 run of [[Duskruin Arena]] in the [[BVShop:Shield Thyself|Shield Thyself shop]] by [[User:GS4-THANDIWE|GameMaster Thandiwe]]. A Shield Cape is a new outerwear garment that is attached to the left wrist by a large bangle of some kind, it is drawn across the left arm and shoulder before dipping down the back (it is Aelotoi friendly after all) and hugs the right ribcage before being pinned across the chest at the left shoulder by a large brooch of some kind. Shield Capes, once unlocked, provide a chance to block an incoming physical or magical attack. This percentage increases with each tier. The bangle and brooch can be removed, replaced, and customized.

The Shield Cape was released at the August 2019 run of Duskruin Arena in the Shield Thyself shop by GameMaster Thandiwe. A Shield Cape is a new outerwear garment that is attached to the left wrist by a large bangle of some kind, it is drawn across the left arm and shoulder before dipping down the back (it is Aelotoi friendly after all) and hugs the right ribcage before being pinned across the chest at the left shoulder by a large brooch of some kind. Shield Capes, once unlocked, provide a chance to block an incoming physical or magical attack. This percentage increases with each tier. The bangle and brooch can be removed, replaced, and customized.

Verb First Third
PULL (removes brooch - must be in hand) - Unhooking the hasp on a scarab-shaped red carbuncle brooch, you carefully pull it free from the fabric of spidersilk cloak. Fiddling with a scarab-shaped red carbuncle brooch, (Player) carefully pulls it free from the fabric of his spidersilk cloak.
PUSH (adds brooch - both must be in hand) - You open the hasp on your red carbuncle brooch and carefully pierce the fabric of your spidersilk cloak with its stickpin. Being cautious not to stick yourself, you hook it into place. (Player) fiddles with his red carbuncle brooch and carefully stabs its stickpin into his spidersilk cloak.
REMOVE Unclipping a scarab-shaped red carbuncle brooch at your left shoulder, you carefully unwrap a black spidersilk cloak banded with tiny metallic threads from your shoulders and slip your wrist from its attached alabaster bangle. TURN (removes bangle - must be in hand) - You slowly rotate a seven-sided alabaster bangle attached to the left edge of your spidersilk cloak until it slips free of its casing. WEAR Slipping your wrist into a seven-sided alabaster bangle that is attached to the left side of your spidersilk cloak, you draw the fabric up over your arm and across your left shoulder, around your back, and under your sapphire wings, before pulling it taut under your right arm. With care, you bring it across your chest and pin the right corner into place at your left shoulder using a scarab-shaped red carbuncle brooch. Slipping his wrist into a seven-sided alabaster bangle that is attached to the left side of his spidersilk cloak, (Player) draws the fabric over his arm and up across his left shoulder, around his back, and under his sapphire wings, before pulling it taut under his right arm. With care, he pulls the lower edge across his chest to his left shoulder and pins it into place using a scarab-shaped red carbuncle brooch.

Tier 1

The Shield Cape has a 1% chance to block an incoming attack with at least one open hand. There is a 50% reduction in the ability if you do not have at least one open hand. A runestaff or two-handed weapon-wielder gets the 50% reduction.

Tier 2

The Shield Cape has a 2% chance to block an incoming attack when there is at least one open hand. There is a 50% reduction in the ability if you do not have at least one open hand. A runestaff or two-handed weapon-wielder gets the 50% reduction. It loses its locked status and gains access to the following verbs: close, hug, open

Tier 5

The Shield Cape has a 5% chance to block an incoming attack when there is at least one open hand. There is a 50% reduction in the ability if you do not have at least one open hand. Analyze

A multi-hued parrot feather cape is part of the Shield Cape Collection, which was purchased at Duskruin in the shop "Shield Thyself".  It is a passive defense item that has a chance to block an incoming blow.  The chance increases with each tier that is unlocked.  If the wearer has no weapons in his hands, no shield/runesetaff, or is using a bow/crossbow, then he gets the full benefit of the cape.  Otherwise the chance is halved.

Currently, a multi-hued parrot feather cape is 5 out of 5 tiers, which provides a 5% chance to block an incoming blow.  It also has access to the following verbs: attend, bow, close, cover, flip, hug, nudge, open, pinch, pull (removes brooch), push (adds brooch), snuggle, remove, rub, tap, tilt, turn (removes bangle), twist (adds bangle), wear

The Auto-closure feature has been unlocked.

Brooch Data: (Upgraded Brooch) A metallic quintuple-ringed brooch inset with vari-colored cabochons can be changed by using PULL to remove the brooch and PUSH to add a new one.  Please note, only specialized brooches will work.  Once your brooch is upgraded from the default piece, it unlocks a 50% chance to retain a charge within it for each successful block.  When the brooch reaches 10 charges, it automatically flares and absorbs all of the charges.

Bangle Data: (Upgraded Bangle - Flare Type - Lightning)  An abalone shell-inlaid bangle can be changed by using TURN to remove the bangle and TWIST to add a new one.  Please note, only specialized bangles will work.  Once your bangle is upgraded from the default piece, it provides an additional 25% chance to absorb a charge.  It will not provide this additional percentage chance if the brooch is not upgraded.  Additionally, bangles can have special unlocks to change the flare type.
There are currently 4 charges stored in this parrot feather cape.

You may alter a multi-hued parrot feather cape freely providing it does not contradict the messaging.  The cape can never be a jacket, a longcoat, a coat, a robe, or any similar nouns based on its design.  Nor will it ever have a hood.  This garment will attach at the left wrist by an abalone shell-inlaid bangle, slide over the arm and across the left shoulder.  It will then dip down the back (under wings for the Aelotoi), under the right arm, and can be pulled across the chest so that it is pinned at the left shoulder with a metallic quintuple-ringed brooch inset with vari-colored cabochons.

You might be able to have a talented merchant lighten the parrot feather cape for you or deepen its pockets.

SNUGGLE - Kneel Leaning back, you sit upon your feet and bring your left hand to rest upon your right shoulder. This draws the fabric of your spidersilk cloak more closely about your body. Leaning back, (Player) sits upon the heels of his feet and brings his left hand to rest upon his right shoulder drawing the fabric of his spidersilk cloak more closely about his body.
SNUGGLE - Laying Rolling on your side, you prop your head with your right arm and draw your left hand up under your chin. The fabric of your spidersilk cloak ripples briefly with blue energy before settling upon you. Rolling on his side, (Player) props his head with his right arm and then draws his left hand up under his chin. The fabric of his spidersilk cloak ripples briefly with blue energy before settling around him.
SNUGGLE - Sitting You place your left hand upon your right shoulder and draw the fabric of your spidersilk cloak up around you. The fabric swaddles you from the elements. (Player) places his left hand upon his right shoulder and draws the fabric of spidersilk cloak up around him for comfort.
SNUGGLE - Standing Placing your left hand upon your right shoulder, you lower your chin to the fabric of your spidersilk cloak and snuggle into its depths. Placing his left hand upon his right shoulder, (Player) lowers his chin to the fabric of his spidersilk cloak and snuggles into its depths.
TILT You raise your left hand before you and tilt it from side to side, causing the bangle around your wrist to slide across your skin and the attached fabric from your spidersilk cloak to ripple. (Player) raises his left hand before him and tilts it from side to side, causing the bangle around his wrist to slide slightly up his arm and the attached fabric from his spidersilk cloak to ripple.

Bangle

Upgrade your bangle to provide a boost to your brooch that will give it an additional 25% chance to absorb a charge AND the upgrade allows you to change your reactive ability from impact to one of the following flare types: fire, cold, lightning, vacuum, disintegrate, unbalance, acid, plasma, steam, or magma.
