Abandoned Inn crystal
The Abandoned Inn Crystal (Lich# 6882), located in the Abandoned Inn, is a clear blue crystal set in dented brass, used to determine the magical properties of items. To use the crystal, a character must first hold their item of interest in their left hand (with an empty right hand) and then TOUCH the crystal. The resulting message is determined by the properties of the item. The most basic messaging reveals whether or not the item is magical:

One function of the AI Crystal is to reveal the level of enchantment of weapons or armor. The crystal will respond to enchantment by shooting a beam of light toward the ceiling (1x, 2x, etc). For items of successively increasing enchantment, the beam of light progresses in color according to the colors of the rainbow. The log below indicates that the item carries a bonus between +16 and +20 inclusive (4x enchantment):
This color scheme is identical to that used for Elemental Detection (405) for the purposes of determining level of enchantment (though the crystal lacks unique messaging for enchantments above 7x).
Additional messaging exists to reveal special properties of items. As shown in the table below, the properties vary depending upon the type of item. For instance, a silver nimbus, in the case of an imbedded item, indicates that it contains a holy spell. In the case of a weapon, this same messaging might indicate that it is blessed.

- Magic item: Holy spell, 5-8 charges.

- Armor accessory: 3x enchantment, flares.
Using the crystal with kroderine items is not advised. This can lead to damage being caused to the person holding the item, and possibly even the crystal itself.
