Basset is a Wedding Officiant that performs wedding ceremonies for those that purchase a wedding package from the Simucoin Store during Rings of Lumnis, Duskruin, Rumor Woods, or Ebon Gate.

Description

You see Basset the Soothsayer.
He appears to be a Human.
He is short and venerable.  He has misty grey eyes and parchment white skin.  He has short white hair that lays about his balding scalp in pale wisps.  He has a long, silvery white beard bound with a silver clip.  He has deep laugh lines that crease the skin around his eyes and mouth.
He is in good shape.
He is holding a gold-capped oak walking stick in his left hand.
He is wearing a leather braid necklace suspending a silver crystal ball, a rich russet brown linen robe embroidered with golden spirals, a long dark cotton tunic bound with a braided cincture, and a pair of fine leather sandals with bronze clasps.

Ceremony

Basset takes a few steps forward and bows deeply, keeping a good grip on his walking stick.  As he straightens up, a wide grin further creases his already wrinkled countenance.  "Greetings to all who have gathered on this most joyous occasion."  He lifts one hand to pat at his bald spot, then raises it in the air, commanding silence.

Basset smiles first at you, and then at BRIDE.  "Moments of true beauty are few and far between in this world.  Lord Jastev, in his infinite wisdom, peers deeply into the weave of time itself to capture these transient moments of elusive perfection and preserves them so that they may be kept whole and unforgotten."

Basset turns his kindly eyes to you, briefly pointing his walking stick in your direction, asking, "Do you foresee yourself being with BRIDE for the rest of your days?"

Success

"When two people who truly love one another reach a bond of complete understanding and unity, it is a thing of purity and goodness that is a wonder to behold."  Basset shakes his head and smiles fondly.

"Surely such unions have the constant grace of Jastev himself, as there is never a moment that goes by that is not filled with an abundance of warmth and depth of spirit that would be difficult to measure in mere words."

As the soothsayer finishes his words, a small gray mist forms above you and BRIDE, coalescing to form a cloud, in which a small crystal ball can be seen.  The image lasts for but a moment before dispersing.

Smiling brightly, Basset continues, "Lord Jastev has blessed this union."

Basset bows deeply again, "GROOM.  BRIDE.  Enjoy life to the fullest and may your marriage be a shining thing of beauty.  So you are wed, and may Jastev watch over you all of your days."  With that, Basset bows deeply before walking out.

Rejection

Leaning heavily on his walking stick, Basset nods his head slowly.  "If you cannot see yourself together in the future, it is best to go your own way in the present.  As you find new paths to walk, may you find new joys, new experiences to preserve."  With that, Basset bows deeply before walking out.
