Summary

As Iskandr hosts a night of drink and songs at the newly opened Rusty Cutlass, the tavern proprietor Lady Casiphia pays a visit with shots of tequila to raise a toast in honor of the recently passed Draccor. Everyone enjoys one another's company for a night of casual questions about whether Mayor Thadston has visited (he hasn't), how the bar profits despite free drinks, and the significance of some of the decorations. Casi concludes the night by carving Draccor's name into the edge of the bar and giving one more toast to never adding another name and to freedom taking root.

Gathering at the Cutlass

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the palm frond-shaped Leafiara disk, an incorporeal golden jackal, the jet-sheened Kayani disk festooned with grave blossoms, the black Teza disk, the Soleren disk, the sparkling Willm disk, the Kellafar disk, the Mahrina disk, the leaf-shrouded Leff disk encircled by overlapping leaves, a green-eyed ridge cougar, the Vaemyr disk, the Dhazu disk, an elated spring spirit that is flying around, the Bbee disk, the Aellis disk, a large acorn, a slice of sparrowhawk pie, a silver-traced carved mahogany cart with some stuff on it, a round silver-banded barrel, an herbal remedy donation bin and some wide stone benches with some stuff on it.

The sky begins to fill with huge clouds, dark and grey on the bottom, pale and white atop, their puffy crowns ascending toward the heavens.

Leafiara curiously says, "Hm."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "It appears that clouds are coming in here at the Landing."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Looks like you got your wish."

Speaking to Bbee, Toxana says, "It will make it much harder for undead to hit you."

[General] Xifeng asks, "Do you think it is more than just a cloudy day?"

[General] Candor thinks, "No that's just the result of one of my farts."

Bbee asks, "Do I put bboth doses on at once?"

Pukk recites:

"Everybody join Leafiara!"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr asks, "Did you go summon this? I get to blame you if anything bad happens right?"

[General] Leafiara admits, "I dunno. I just know people love the rain and snow."

Toxana says, "You can use the other later."

Speaking lightly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "No, blame falls to the mayor. It's all Thadston's problem now."

Kayani softly asks, "Why is everyone joining Leafi?"

Dhazu asks, "Right?"

[General] Xifeng thinks, "If that was the case, Icemule would be more popular."

Blades says, "Sorry, I didn't die."

[General] Sairai asks, "And darnit thought I could escape crudeness here.. surprise surprise?"

Speaking to Kayani, Vaemyr says, "Looks like some snowly weather in the landing tonight."

[General] Leafiara clarifies, "Well, the Landing people, I mean. We get weird about it, maybe because it's not common."

Blades says, "Looks like the odds have increased though."

Pukk recites:

Speaking to Pukk, Leafiara exclaims, "Real Cryheart has arrived!"

[General] Casiphia thinks, "Rain is often a welcome thing. It cleans away the past."

Dhazu says, "Last time I heard someone yell that it was a snuggle party. I mean don't get me wrong I like snuggles but sometimes I gotta be prepared ya know."

Vaemyr says, "Quick join Cryheart instead."

[General] Leafiara acknowledges, "Also true."

Blades asks, "Ok?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Pukk says, "You're late."

Speaking amusedly to Pukk, Leafiara says, "Do it anyway."

Speaking to Cryheart, Pukk says, "Join Leafi and she will give you the lead."

[General] Gutstorm thinks, "It make dogsh shmell wet doh."

[General] Stormyrain thinks, "Merry eve, Casiphia. We're enjoying the Cutlass, quite a crowd here this night."

[General] Leafiara thinks, "Should've seen Fahlo's auction at the Cutlass, it went stupendously well."

Vaemyr says, "Oh we haven't seen Casi in a while."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Guarrin says, "Clearly unwanted, so he need not worry."

Blades says, "You sneak like a heard of roa'ters."

Candor says, "Thank you."

Speaking amusedly to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Some of us just saw her when the Cutlass opened."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Likewise, Lady Casiphia."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Oh haha."

Leafiara says, "She arrived about half an hour after Larsya left, though, so many had already dispersed for the night."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Musta been after I crashed for the evening."

Vaemyr says, "Ahh."

[General] Dhazu exclaims, "I love the Cutlass, I've been catchin way more fish than there than elsewhere. . . Though by 'way' more I mean three more, but hey!"

[General] Casiphia thinks, "I am pleased to hear that."

Leafiara amusedly asks, "We going or staying?"

Bbee asks, "Where we going?"

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "It has certainly been a nice addition to have in town, great food and drink."

[General] Cryheart asks, "Lady Casiphia, we going to convene somewhere?"

[General] Pukk thinks, "I have passed the word that the Rusty Cutlass is the place to be."

Leafiara asks, "The Rusty Cutlass, I think?"

Leafiara says, "Or maybe that's just where Stormy went, I'm not sure."

[General] Candor thinks, "And great places to hide after stea...I mean uh...drinking..."

[General] Kayse exclaims, "We are in the Rusty Cutlass sharing stories, tales, and songs!"

Cryheart says, "Ok..leet's go look."

Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm slurs, "Letsh meet behind da panel in her offish."

Cryheart says, "Moving out."

Blades says, "I better stock up on booze then, theirs is terrible."

Guarrin whispers something to Cryheart.

[General] Casiphia thinks, "Are we? I am at the Cutlass. There should be no other place anyone frequents but here."

[Rusty Cutlass, Grub Hall]

Burnished wooden planks curve out to form the massive hall of the tavern's entrance, with rows of sturdy oaken posts rising to connect with a network of rafters above. Dozens of blackened oil lanterns hang from the ceiling, their light at times a haze behind wisps of smoke drifting in from the galley. In the center rests a huge cast-iron pot surrounded by countless tables and barrel chairs. A half-circle driftwood bar is nestled in the corner beneath a salt-stained crest. You also see an iron-banded oak keg of plum and honey mead, the Jisandra disk, the Delindra disk, the faenor Kobane disk inlaid with intersecting bands of jet, a great white wolf that is sitting, the Yardie disk, an iron-banded maoral keg of Mestanirian stout, a jungle samoyed, a lean red fox, a wide wooden ramp and an open archway leading to a wooden plank bridge.

Casiphia says, "The Rusty Cutlass, so strategically placed, even the Cryblob can find it."

Casiphia smirks.

Cryheart asks, "How ye be, Lady Casiphia?"

Blades asks, "You're still alive?"

Blades peers quizzically at Juspera.

Speaking wryly to Iskandr, Kayse says, "Which of course was the best part of the evening."

Cryheart begins chuckling at Casiphia!

Yardie says, "Wow."

Speaking to Guarrin, Delindra says, "It is probably just as well you have arrived late."

Roelon deeply says, "Seems like ah challenge...."

Cryheart says, "I am glad ye hae faith."

Cryheart grins at Casiphia.

Blades says, "She fell."

Yardie says, "Hey people, you can explain the Southside of Solhaven to Vailken! He doesn't know how to fae-diddly do things."

Casiphia stands up.

Casiphia stands in front of a half-circle driftwood bar.

Speaking to Blades, Stormyrain inquires, "Over the gangplank?"

Blades says, "Unknowable."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye mean git mugged?"

Tayler asks, "Isn't the southside the temple district?"

Speaking to Yardie, Kalyrra says, "He left."

Speaking curiously to Delindra, Guarrin asks, "Why is that?"

Tayler says, "Or is that... the middle."

Ithilwyn softly says, "Well, when a man and a woman love each other...."

Leafiara says, "Southside Solhaven is where you go to get mugged, basically."

Kayse whispers something to Asben.

Missoni defensively adds, "It is also where you go for things like fishcakes, and catching lobsters."

The voice of Vaikhen haltingly says, "I-I-I've come b-back."

Speaking lightly to Yardie, Leafiara says, "Oh, well then, have at it..."

Missoni says, "Not just to get mugged."

Guarrin casually mentions, "There are plenty of fine establishments on the south side."

Juspera says, "Fish cakes, fish cakes."

Iskandr says, "The southside of Solhaven are where dreams are made, Vaikhen."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "Oh it's not for me. It's for Vaikhen."

Speaking to Casiphia, Kayse suggests, "Winterberry ale."

Missoni adds, "And temples, for the more Lornon inclined."

The voice of Vaikhen doubtfully asks, "Dreams, or nightmares?"

Casiphia begins chuckling at Kayse!

Casiphia shakes her head.

Kayani softly asks, "Yes?"

Iskandr says, "All, do enjoy the kegs that are here, they're for drinking until they're dead."

Leafiara suddenly says, "Oh, we're talking about the only somewhat-south side of Solhaven, not the south-south-south, got it."

Iskandr says, "We've been about telling stories and such."

Cryheart says, "Perhaps some really good ale."

Vaemyr's expression shifts to one of consternation as color suffuses his cheeks, and his eyes widen.

Cryheart says, "Or mead."

Tayler says, "More poison." [OOC: not a request for the bar, but referring to Vaemyr being poisoned by a drink by someone who was using the Bloodriven Village poisons; the "more" is because it had also happened earlier that night at an Ord an Dragan event to Cryheart]

Speaking to Iskandr, Delindra reminds, "And educating people. About... faloorums."

Vaemyr says, "Welp."

Cryheart says, "Oy."

Speaking to Delindra, Iskandr exclaims, "Indeed!"

Pukk whispers something to Casiphia.

Cryheart says, "Once an evening is enough." [again, it had happened to him already, heh]

Blades says, "Looks like humans stocked this place."

The voice of Vaikhen worriedly exclaims, "Faloorums?!"

Yardie says, "Faloorums."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat why me no drink da coffee."

Casiphia says, "I'll fix this...I'll be right back."

Nairena says, "The Rusty Cutlass leans a little. I see why now."

Lady Casiphia just went west.

Speaking to Yardie, Leafiara confesses, "You know, I think Vaikhen might beat out even you for cowardly tendencies."

Bbee exclaims, "And we need balute and shooters!"

Vaemyr says, "Well this isn't good."

Vaemyr groans quietly, the sound small and animalistic, as he contorts involuntarily. His eyes roll wildly in their sockets, while his hands spasm, clenching and relaxing, fingers hooked into claws that scrape futilely at the empty air.

Tayler asks, "Is there anyone invisible here?"

Speaking to Blades, Stormyrain offers, "The wine isn't terrible. Avoid the Grog on the deck, however. Unless you like to eat pine needles."

Cryheart says, "This ice water hits the spot."

Blades says, "I brought a lot of bourbon with me."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "He's not a coward. Just flowered."

Speaking to Blades, Stormyrain says, "Smart."

Blades says, "And a lollipop."

Missoni worriedly asks, "Is it poison?"

Speaking lightly to Yardie, Leafiara says, "Uh-huh."

Vaemyr sways unsteadily and then collapses heavily onto the ground.

Vaemyr's mouth snaps open in a silent scream as his body arches away from the ground, taut and inflexible with muscle spasms. His limbs lay bent at awkward angles, legs and hands and arms twitching periodically as if he were attempting to regain control. After several moments that seem impossibly long, the tightness in Vaemyr's face eases, and his body crumbles motionless back to the ground.

Speaking to Leafiara, Kalyrra says, "I might have to disagree with you there."

Cryheart asks, "Dipping the lollipop in the bourbon?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie exclaims, "He really is flowered!"

Cryheart says, "Excellent."

Speaking confusedly to Yardie, Leafiara asks, "Prove it?"

Leafiara loudly inquires, "Vaikhen, are you 'flowered'?"

Speaking to Blades, Stormyrain says, "You missed the best song."

Speaking to Leafiara, Yardie says, "I am not attracted to men."

Bbee says, "I am amazed no where offers balute as a side."

Tayler says, "Yes, the ball had someone in the shadows poisoning people as well."

Vaemyr says, "Bit of poison yes."

Stormyrain says, "About old men."

Speaking wryly to Stormyrain, Kayse says, "There's a clear theme."

The voice of Vaikhen flatly exclaims, "AM I WHAT?!"

Speaking confusedly to Yardie, Leafiara asks, "What does that have to do with anything?"

Blades asks, "That what you're into?"

Blades says, "You're in luck."

Iskandr says, "Well, do drink from the kegs, I leave them to you all for the festivities of the night. I didn't buy shy of two hundred just to stare at them or keep doors open."

Vaemyr says, "Think it's over."

Speaking drunkenly to Vaemyr, Gutstorm slurs, "Me overheard Aloshaka and Kayshe mention layin trapsh fer people."

Iskandr says, "Though I do like to stare at them all in their vault."

Cryheart says, "Well...there is already beer and stout on the bar."

Iskandr says, "It's breathtaking."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leafiara says, "Ah, that happened at the Ord an Dragan dance earlier too."

Yardie exclaims, "I'd also like to complain to the owner of the establishment for having squid on the menu!"

Cryheart says, "Perhaps some blackberry sage tea."

Tayler says, "I would suggest not touching anything you find on the ground, plague of annoying people with poison lately."

Speaking to Yardie, Juspera asks, "Really?"

Vaikhen suddenly exclaims, "Look! L-listen! Look! ... again. There are many types of courage!"

Speaking to Nairena, Regwen says, "So good to see ye, sister."

Cryheart says, "Amen to that."

Cryheart nods at Tayler.

Speaking amusedly to Yardie, Leafiara says, "She was just right here, have at it."

Speaking to Regwen, Nairena says, "Its good to be seen."

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "Not my first time, generally doesn't kill me so I just get through it."

Blades asks, "Hows your hands?"

Iskandr says, "It seems to me that my night of stories may perhaps be at an end? More than happy to let others take the reigns."

Speaking to Regwen, Nairena asks, "You been staying in trouble?"

Blades asks, "Still attached?"

Speaking to Blades, Juspera says, "Of course they are."

Speaking to Juspera, Yardie says, "Really."

Speaking to Nairena, Regwen says, "Trying, but it is difficult."

Speaking to Iskandr, Jisandra observes, "It did get rather crowded all of a sudden."

Blades says, "For now."

Speaking to Iskandr, Leafiara says, "I'm sorry I didn't realize you were hosting here tonight or I would definitely have come over."

Speaking to Yardie, Juspera asks, "Are you drunk?"

Agathilea says, "Ah yes, I think it has come to a close. Quite an entertaining one."

Speaking to Regwen, Nairena says, "It really is hard to behave."

Ithilwyn softly says, "Squirt didn't make it."

Speaking to Ithilwyn, Yardie exclaims, "Ithlwyn!!"

Leafiara opines, "Best tavern ever made."

Nairena says, "Even harder to misbehave."

Speaking to Khobra, Yardie says, "Madame Khobra, do not steal my brother's keg."

Leafiara adds, "Though only because the Abandoned Inn isn't a tavern. I'd have to at least think about that one."

Ithilwyn softly says, "I know, it is hard...but....Squirt lived a good life."

Vaikhen quietly grumbles, "Not near enough bourbon for my tastes."

Nairena says, "You got to find the neutral ground."

Yardie exclaims, "My child is not named Squirt!!"

Speaking in Faendryl to Yardie, Khobra remarks something you don't understand.

Speaking surreptitiously to Vaikhen, Leafiara asks, "Oh, about this thing about you being flowered, are you?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Vaemyr says, "This place gotta be the best addition to this town in years though."

Speaking to Nairena, Regwen says, "Life is about balance."

Ithilwyn softly asks, "Squidward?"

Ithilwyn softly asks, "Inky Pie?"

Juspera says, "Squirt's a good name for a kid."

Speaking to Yardie, Missoni says, "You have a child? I was not aware."

Speaking confusedly to Vaikhen, Leafiara says, "I dunno. Yardie said it. But even I'm not flowered and I'm half-sylvan."

Speaking to Bakarus, Khobra says, "He von'y puzh me.. ever."

Speaking to Missoni, Yardie says, "Madame Missoni.....I'd rather not....get into it."

Speaking to Asben, Nairena exclaims, "Asben!"

Iskandr says, "We haven't seen Yardie's child in some time. A true shame."

Speaking to Iskandr, Yardie exclaims, "Brother, don't you start!"

Speaking to Nairena, Asben says, "That's me."

Speaking to Yardie, Missoni says, "Ah, alright."

Iskandr says, "She....or he....seemed like a delightful child. Zelia's best gift for sure."

Tequila Toast

Some workers arrive and set up several shots of fiery gold tequila on the bar. They nod to Casiphia and walk off.

Speaking to Vaikhen, Leafiara says, "I don't see you growing flowers, though."

Speaking quietly to Iskandr, Evii warns, "Legend says that if you go down by the water on the shoreline late at night, sometimes you can hear it barking at the moon."

Cryheart says, "Heh."

Casiphia says, "Better."

[various people pouring a shot of tequila]

Casiphia pours herself a shot of fiery gold tequila.

Devantis says, "Ohhh."

Vaikhen asks, "Oh! Oh, is this it?"

Cryheart says, "I was going to suggest some blackberry sage tea."

Casiphia says, "Join me."

Speaking to Vaikhen, Kalyrra says, "There. Flowered."

Blades says, "Get along ok."
