The sailors say, "Landing, you're a fine town

If you didn't live right next to a barony"

The Landing was a novel space
There lived every culture known to every race
And they voted leaders into place
Kicked them out if they didn't do well

They had balance and it kept them free
Forged their future from accountability
'Til a baron imposed on their community
And his decisions burned their home

The baron said, "Landing, you're a fine town
What a neighbor you will be
You'll live not just for yourselves, but also me"

The Landing's ways began to fade
When he spun all his sob stories
How he'd twist and plead until they caved
As he rose to royal glory
He never had to deal in truth
Lord Eli was an Earl-made man
So Wehnimer's stood aside for his unchecked plans

Each night, a former mayor walks alone
On the frontier streets she once believed she'd known
Restocks her shop, then leaves to roam
Nothing like the bygone days

She shrugs and says, "Landing, you're a fine town
I admired your bravery
