Awaiting Alendrial

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Dergoatean disk, the Ardimas disk, the Aerocus disk, the Faiyth disk, the Arahnim disk, the Kialeigh disk, the Naliya disk, some inky black rat fur socks, the Unravel disk, the Ehlron disk, a pale-faced coppery barn owl, the Katissa disk, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a thin crisp of hummus-topped bread, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, a large acorn, an austere off-white page, an old well, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Also here: Whimweaver Leafiara, Dergoatean, Kippe, Lady Ardimas, Udari, Drektor, Aerocus, Maerit, Lord Herod, Arena Hero Beldannon, Faiyth, Grand Lord Arahnim, Kialeigh, Irval, Davenas who is sitting, Naliya, Unravel, Ehlron, Magister Raelee, Littlemelody, Lady Katissa who is sitting

Irval says, "Right lets go see what this Rook candidate for mayor has to say."

[General] Izden asks, "Does it come from the land of ice and snow?"

[Moot Hall, Assembly Room]

In this large assembly room meetings are convened to deal with the affairs of the town, and the locals hold their religious and social events. There is ample room for benches, long tables and other furnishings befitting special occasions. Sconces for torches, chandeliers holding many candles, and broad windows impart a warm, friendly glow of good fellowship to this space. You also see the Arahnim disk, the Kialeigh disk, the Dergoatean disk, the Tennalnen disk, a louvered door, a double door and some wooden benches.

Also here: Whimweaver Leafiara, Magister Raelee, Grand Lord Arahnim, Kialeigh, Irval, Dergoatean, Pukk who is sitting, Bernadette, Anlaric who is sitting, Great Lord Tennalnen who is sitting

[General] Ancelyna thinks, "No, mine road."

Speaking to Pukk, Tennalnen says, "Phoenixes help."

Pukk says, "Yes."

Lord Juramis just trudged through a double door. [OOC note: Going to slightly break from protocol here. All of Juramis' actions are preserved, but he seemed to be more background flavor than anything, so I've only given bolding to him in the same manner as if he were a PC instead of an NPC.]

Pukk sniffs.

Pukk sniffs.

Pukk asks, "Somebody step in something?"

Pukk glances down.

Pukk glances at Juramis.

Irval says, "A rook on my way here."

Pukk says, "Oh."

Juramis huskily says, "Good evening, everyone."

Speaking to Juramis, Dergoatean says, "Long time, sir."

Leafiara inquires, "...where's Mongo?"

[General] Leafiara affably thinks, "We're meeting in the Aseembly Room in the Landing, just through the double doors inside Moot Hall."

Juramis huskily says, "I am here to watch and listen, as a concerned member of the town and member of the Consortium of course."

Leafiara amiably says, "Ah, there's the crowd now."

Juramis grins wryly.

Juramis huskily asks, "If Amos wins, who do you suppose he would make the interim leader of the Consortium?"

Speaking to Juramis, Kayse offers, "Me?"

Speaking to Juramis, Pukk says, "Xorus."

Lylia says, "I have a suggestion."

Mourdeyan says, "Mongo."

Speaking to Juramis, Tayler says, "I'll take the job, as long as the salary is sufficient."

Speaking to Juramis, Kiyna offers, "Dakris?"

Dergoatean says, "Hopefulyl the dread pirate."

Leafiara says, "Last time he was considering it back in 5121, he said Larton."

Juramis begins chuckling at Mourdeyan!

Leafiara says, "But it's been a while, so things could certainly have changed."

Speaking lightly to Tikba, Kayse says, "I think it's a reasonable and wise choice."

Speaking to Kayse, Tayler says, "I'm not sure you could handle the crushing weight of more titles."

Speaking evenly to Tayler, Kayse says, "Try me."

Xorus says, "You have to strike that balance between competence and lacking excess of ambition."

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "He's right, you'd have yet another office."

Kayse dismissively says, "I would work out of the Black Hand one."

Kayse murmurs, "It has better booze."

Juramis huskily says, "Too many irons in the fire, and you may find yourself grasping for the one that will not burn you."

Juramis smirks.

Juramis glances up.

Speaking to Juramis, Dergoatean says, "And it's pretty hard to find an iron in a fire that does not burn you."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Irval asks, "Is iti?"

Speaking to Dergoatean, Pukk says, "I was just thinking that."

Speaking to Juramis, Kayse asks, "Was that directed at me?"

Speaking softly to Faiyth, Davenas asks, "How about giantwomen?"

Speaking to Irval, Dergoatean asks, "I guess if you just put it in a second ago?"

A town clerk arrives.

Speaking cheerfully to a town clerk, Leafiara greets, "Good eve!"

Juramis huskily says, "Myself, you, anyone with their hands caught in the jar."

Speaking to a town clerk, Mourdeyan says, "Evenin."

Juramis shrugs at Kayse.

Juramis grins wryly.

Speaking to a town clerk, Tennalnen says, "Bit more of a crowd this evening."

Kayse vaguely says, "All my irons are connected and serve a purpose. I am not concerned with my workload."

Kialeigh says, "Surprising."

Tikba politely says, "If the irons are in the fire then they cannot be in the jar."

Leafiara reasons, "What if the jar's in the fire?"

Speaking to Tikba, Pukk exclaims, "Exactly!"

Raelee says, "... one should simply learn to handle hot iron without being burned."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk asks, "A fire jar?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Tikba warns, "It would explode, if it is glass."

Pukk says, "That's jarring."

Speaking to Tikba, Leafiara muses, "I suppose there is that."

Speaking to Raelee, Perigourd says, "Forging."

Juramis huskily says, "I do wonder what Lady DeArchon has in store for tonight. Her interest in the office intrigues me."

Leafiara considers, "Although... if the jar is holding heated irons, it should be--"

Leafiara abruptly says, "Ah, never mind, I digress."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "You're more of a kitten, not a tigress."

[General] Quietrroar thinks, "Anyone out."

Leafiara tilts her head at Pukk.

Udari asks, "We allowed to smoke in here?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "You said you're a tigress."

Speaking offhandedly to Udari, Leafiara says, "As far as I know, yes, but the laws around here sometimes change quickly--and other times extraordinarily slowly--so be ready for anything."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "How good to see you. You always enliven spectating."

Speaking huskily to Leafiara, Juramis asks, "And sometimes they are glossed over entirely by the Mayor. Oh... I said that out loud, didn't I?"

Speaking to Udari, Pukk says, "They might hang you for it. Be careful."

Speaking amusedly to Juramis, Leafiara says, "Well, many were thinking it."

Speaking to Pukk, Udari says, "Ill try to blow my smoke towards the doors."

Leafiara says, "Welcome to the Landing, where the mayor can pardon someone and then hang people for meeting with the person he pardoned."

The town clerk sets up a questions list on a table and backs away.

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I figured he was tired of me not taking a bath."

Speaking to Lylia, Alosaka says, "I don't plan on causing any ruckus tonight."

>join list

Sorry, no further names can be added to the question list at this time.

Round time: 80 seconds.

Speaking to Leafiara, Lylia says, "Ah, if we had only known it was as simple as hanging those who disagreed with us."

Lylia says, "Lessons learned. When I take over the next town, I shall remember."

The town clerk says, "The list is now open, please JOIN it if you wish to ask a question."

>join list

'Alosaka adds his name to the question list.

Juramis nods to a town hall question list.

The town clerk says, "Lady Alendrial will be along shortly."

Xorus says, "It sounds like a clear example of pardoning costing more lives than executing in the first place."

Speaking to Alosaka, Lylia says, "A planned ruckus is just an ordinary party; the unplanned ones are much more exciting."

Dergoatean says, "Don't all jump at once." [heh, possible that other people had been in the same boat of trying to join early]

Tennalnen adds his name to the question list.

Kayse whispers something to Tikba.

Leafiara adds her name to the question list.

Lylia says, "She is less controversial."

Speaking quietly to himself, Tennalnen says, "Note to self, await announcement of list being open before trying to join."

Speaking to Lylia, Dergoatean says, "I find myself much closer to forgiving of her sins."

Tikba whispers something to Kayse.

Faiyth says, "I should join just to ask her.. "how dare you?!"."

Nalbon adds his name to the question list.

Speaking to Tennalnen, Kiyna says, "You're on the list."

Faiyth says, "But I dunno what I would follow it up with."

Leafiara says, "Seven years living here and nobody yet has even explained to me what any of her past sins were."

Lylia replies, "Considering the nature of most of those 'sins,' it is no wonder."

Speaking to Faiyth, Pukk exclaims, "Ooh that is good!"

Speaking to Kiyna, Tennalnen says, "Now I am."

Speaking to Faiyth, Perigourd says, "I expect you can ask what you wish."

Tikba adds her name to the question list.

Nalbon asks, "Whos up?"

Speaking to Leafiara, Dergoatean says, "She did lead a criminal organization."

Faiyth says, "You had to be there last night.."

Speaking to Nalbon, Leafiara says, "Lady Alendrial."

Speaking casually to Dergoatean, Leafiara says, "Yeah, but apparently said organization is all the rage in political office these days anyway."

Speaking to Leafiara, Dergoatean says, "Maybe, just not with me."

Speaking amiably to Dergoatean, Leafiara says, "Fair enough."

Alosaka says, "One moment."

[General] Tennalnen thinks, "Anyone still wishing to make the Town Hall for Lady Alendrial has a few moments before her arrival."

Nalbon asks, "Wheres the booze?"

Juramis glances at a double door and rubs his chin thoughtfully.

[General] Tennalnen thinks, "Located inside Moot Hall, through the double doors."

Pukk recites:

"Tap Juramis if you want booze!"

Juramis glances at Pukk.

Speaking to Nalbon, Tennalnen asks, "You have a favorite kind?"

Speaking to Kayse, Alosaka says, "My thanks again for the coffee."

Faiyth asks, "Yeah... where is the booze?"

Setting Up

Lady Alendrial just came through a double door.

Pukk says, "Wow, nobody wants it."

Leafiara stands up.

Leafiara curtsies gracefully to Alendrial.

Alendrial smiles at Leafiara.

Leafiara grins.

Alendrial says, "Good evening."

Mourdeyan says, "Evenin Lady."

Leafiara cheerfully greets, "Good evening!"

Juramis huskily says, "I do keep a fine selection of wine. But this is not the time or place for it."

Nalbon says, "No, Im a Bard, ill drink anything you put in front of me.....within reason."

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen says, "Good evening."

Alendrial says, "Ah, Juramis."

Alendrial says, "What a pleasure and not a surprise."

Alendrial smirks.

Juramis turns to face Alendrial.

Juramis huskily says, "Oh. I'm just a concerned member of our town. Pay me no mind."

Juramis grins at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "Certainly."

Speaking to Juramis, Dergoatean says, "That word "just" can hide so much."

Irval adds his name to the question list.

Udari says, "Sorry."

The town clerk says, "We shall begin! I want to get some sleep tonight! Lady Alendrial, are you ready?"

Pukk says, "Good luck."

Juramis huskily says, "It is good to see you Lady DeArchon. Walking about in the walls of Wehnimer's once again, without chains."

Tayler says, "Sleep? In this town? Perhaps you should have applied for a job in Solhaven."

Alendrial grins at Juramis.

Alendrial asks, "To you as well?"

Alendrial smirks.

Alendrial says, "This town is nothing without its second chances."

Alendrial nods at Juramis.

Juramis huskily says, "You make an excellent point."

Alosaka says, "Or third... fourth... fifth..."

Question #1, from Alosaka

The town clerk says, "Alosaka!"

Alosaka tilts his head up.

Alosaka smiles.

Speaking to Alendrial, Alosaka asks, "Lady Alendrial, it's no secret that the town has been riven with internal strife this past year. People supporting the Settlement, people opposed to the Barony. People fighting the Reivers, people aiding the Reivers. Rooks, Remnants, and everything in between. As mayor, what will you do to heal these divisions?"

Alendrial nods.

Alendrial says, "I would like to think our problems will end soon, but truthfully, they won't. Today it is Reivers and Remnants.."

Speaking to Alosaka, Goldstr says, "Answer to dat could be a book."

Alendrial says, "Tomorrow? Tomorrow will be a new danger."

Alosaka nods slowly.

Alendrial says, "What I am more concerned with is our own people. Dangers will come and go, threats will rise and be squashed. But there are cracks in our walls. Fissures in our hearts."

Kialeigh says, "Surprised the Rook Representative isn't here to hear."

Alendrial asks, "How effective is any strategy, if we're at war with each other?"

Juramis glances at Kialeigh.

Kialeigh asks, "The lil guy... with the dropped bits?"

Mourdeyan says, "Indeed."

Alendrial says, "There are common ground things we can all agree on. Most of us, that is."

Alosaka nods.

Speaking to Alendrial, Dergoatean says, "Like you should tip for a chrism, for instance."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Irval says, "Pretty sure, she is."

Alendrial says, "The Reivers, if we cannot settle into peace with them, then we cannot allow them to continue to threaten us and our allies."

Alosaka nods.

Speaking to Dergoatean, Delyorik says, "Oh, I dunno about tipping for a chrism. There's always a way to negotiate future services."

Alendrial says, "As I said in my election announcement, we must wield both shield and sword equally, but each does not always need to be in use."

Alosaka takes a drink from his Tehir spiced coffee.

Alosaka nods at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "We are a good people, of course we should, and I believe we have, tried to reason with the Ember Vale."

Speaking to Delyorik, Dergoatean says, "She did say most of us."

Speaking to Dergoatean, Delyorik says, "True."

Alendrial asks, "They spit at us and demanded blood, did they not?"

Alosaka nods.

Alendrial says, "Then the time for a shield has passed."

Irval says, "There is no reasoning with the hagsworn."

Alendrial nods.

Juramis whispers something to Kialeigh.

Alendrial says, "The Remnants are a perversion. Honestly, they reek of desperation. That creates opportunities. There are things we can do, connections we can leverage, to try to root out the Wraith and end him or her."

Alosaka nods.

Speaking to Leafiara, Delyorik says, "Have fun with the politics. Let me know if I can lend a hand."

Juramis glances at Alendrial and rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Juramis nods in agreement.

Alendrial says, "But why do our enemies attack us...why do they move on us, to challenge us..."

Alendrial says, "I would argue that perhaps they see weakness in our division."

Dergoatean says, "Because they hate our freedom, obviously."

Alosaka nods in agreement.

Alendrial says, "Perception is important. We must convey strength at all times, while never losing sight of our humanity."

Alosaka nods.

Alendrial nods at Alosaka.

Alosaka nods appreciatively at Alendrial.

Question #2, from Tennalnen

The town clerk says, "Tennalnen!"

Speaking in Faendryl, Lylia murmurs something you don't understand.

Speaking to Alendrial, Kiyna asks, "Or... elfinity? Elfdom? Is there a word for that?"

Tikba whispers something to Lylia.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen asks, "Good evening, and thank you for taking the time to speak with us. I had intended to ask a different question, but alas I was a bit too slow. Therefore I shall instead ask a question posed to me earlier today in Icemule. I was asked if you disliked Icemule, and not knowing you well enough to answer, I told them I would ask you directly. So my question is, What are your feelings towards Icemule and what are your intentions towards the self-proclaimed Free North, if elected Mayor?"

Alendrial smirks at Kiyna.

Chandrellia adds her name to the question list.

Alendrial asks, "Could you elaborate on what defines this Free North?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Tennalnen.

Tennalnen appears to be trying hard not to grin.

Tennalnen nods understandingly.

Tennalnen says, "From what I know, the people of Icemule seem to be organizing with the other peoples of the North to form an alliance of sorts."

Tennalnen says, "I will admit, I am not quite informed as I wish I was."

Tennalnen blushes a nice shade of light pink.

Tayler asks, "The other peoples of the north? The gigas? Or the Pinefar wildlife?"

Speaking in Sylvankind, Kelfyr says something you don't understand.

Leafiara suggests, "Several here have attended the meetings with Icemule's Mayor Talliver if you need any assistance describing the circumstances."

Dergoatean says, "Don't forget the vvrael."

Alendrial says, "As for Icemule Trace in general, I welcome them as neighbors and allies, so long as they wish the same. The Free North? Some loose collection of people who seem to not mind the cold? We would treat them no differently at first then any nation seeking to be an ally."

Leafiara points at Kelfyr.

Kelfyr says, "The giant tribes, the half-krolvin, and others."

Speaking to Tayler, Alosaka says, "They are assembling the giant tribes."

Lylia suggests, "If you asked, there are some cave trolls as well."

Alendrial says, "But while I see us as a friend to Icemule Trace, and I hope likewise...."

Alendrial says, "I will say this."

Lylia takes a drink from her black currant wine.

Lylia looks rather relaxed.

Juramis looks at Lylia with concern.

Speaking in Faendryl to Lylia, Dergoatean says something you don't understand.

Alendrial says, "I am not blind to the raucous voices from the north who descend upon this town at times of gatherings to try to stretch their feathers the widest, or raise their voice the loudest, or frankly piss the farthest."

Alendrial says, "That does no good for our relationship or our problems."

Tennalnen agrees with Alendrial.

Speaking in Faendryl to Dergoatean, Tayler says something you don't understand.

[General] Baon asks, "Any officers of Silvergate please?"

Speaking to Tennalnen, Alosaka murmurs, "Be sure to pass that part of the answer along first."

Alendrial says, "A true ally knows when and where to step and what and how to speak."

Tennalnen grins at Alosaka.

Alendrial asks, "Does that make sense?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Tennalnen.

Tennalnen nods in agreement at Alendrial.

Juramis whispers something to Lylia.

Alendrial nods.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen says, "It does, and I thank you for your time."

Sweeping his arm outward, Tennalnen bows low in a grand fashion before Alendrial.

Tennalnen slowly strides a few steps backward.

Juramis smirks.

Tennalnen walks over to the benches and settles down.

Question #3, from Leafiara

The town clerk says, "Leafiara!"

Alendrial smiles at Leafiara.

Leafiara nods to the town clerk.

Leafiara stands up.

Speaking in Giantman to Tayler, Dergoatean asks something you don't understand.

Leafiara smiles at Alendrial.

Speaking amiably to Alendrial, Leafiara greets, "Good evening and thank you for hosting."

The town clerk says, "Technically, I'm hosting..."

Alendrial smirks.

Ancelyna quietly says, "Details."

Speaking offhandedly to a town clerk, Leafiara says, "We're not here for you. Apologies, but true..."

Leafiara chuckles.

Leafiara winks at a town clerk.

Speaking to a town clerk, Leafiara adds, "I jest. Thank you too."

Leafiara nods to the town clerk.

Leafiara turns to face Alendrial.

Kelfyr adds his name to the question list.

Speaking to Alendrial, Leafiara begins, "Although you're the previous Mother from many years ago, I would imagine that you have differences of opinion with the recent one. During your initial campaign speech, you already implied a couple of them when saying that freedom isn't maintained with 'rooftop parades' and that our neighbors shouldn't be gripping blades and leaping at shadows..."

Speaking to Alendrial, Leafiara inquires, "I was going to ask if you'd like to share any other notable differences, but after hearing your answer to Alosaka and your points about weakness created by division, I suppose I should extend my question in both directions. Would you like to share any notable differences *or* commonalities in stance?"

Alendrial asks, "Differences between myself and Casiphia?"

Leafiara nods at Alendrial.

Leafiara says, "Yes."

Alendrial asks, "Well for one, Thadston just isn't my type?"

Alendrial smirks.

Leafiara laughs with delight, her eyes full of merriment.

Alendrial waves her hand in a dismissive gesture.

Alendrial says, "Honestly though..."

Leafiara amusedly reiterates, "Differences in stance..."

Leafiara appears to be struggling to keep a straight face.

Faiyth says, "Not every guy can pull off throwing a desk gracefully."

Juramis quietly asks, "You don't enjoy chair tossing and long walks on thin ice?"

Juramis smirks.

Leafiara nods knowingly at Juramis.

Alendrial asks, "I cannot imagine what Casiphia has endured. I can I suppose in some ways, but not all. Enthralled by that mad man Chaston Griffin? A mind fractured in his death?"

Nalbon says, "You probably could."

Alendrial says, "Her life has been...unfortunate in many ways."

Leafiara acknowledges, "That was much of Thadston's defense of the pardon too."

Leafiara nods at Alendrial.

Alosaka observes, "Many people have suffered misfortunes."

Davenas softly says, "Most have."

Alendrial says, "But circumstance does not provide blanket approval or forgiveness for criminal actions."

Alendrial says, "I aided the Brotherhood of Rooks, which yes, my husband helped found over a decade ago. It was during a time of war, when Talador was in our streets, bleeding our children and burning our homes. I helped them mend their wounds, feed their bellies, hide and sleep."

Juramis leans back.

Leafiara nods understandingly at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "But I was never Mother, not in the way she has been or acts. Endangering innocents, plotting wide destruction, starving people..."

Faiyth says, "Doesn't sound motherly to me."

Udari asks, "Maybe tough love?"

Alendrial says, "Did I try to help steer the Rooks to something better? Of course. I failed. Rysus used me to apprehend Drangell, then betrayed me and used the entire situation to wrestle leadership away and take the Rooks down one of their darkest journeys."

Leafiara nods grimly at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "The largest difference..."

Alendrial says, "Is the ends do not always justify the means. Becoming a monster to stop monsters only furthers the cycle. I try to sleep at night."

Leafiara nods sympathetically at Alendrial.

Speaking appreciatively to Alendrial, Leafiara says, "Well said and well considered. Thank you."

Alendrial says, "There are things that can be done. In fact, I meet with Thadston soon and I hope to discuss some plans."

Alendrial nods at Leafiara.

Leafiara nods appreciatively at Alendrial.

Question #4, from Tikba

The town clerk says, "Nalbon!"

Nalbon snores quietly out of boredom.

Tikba taps Nalbon lightly on his shoulder.

Leafiara pinches Nalbon!

Nalbon snores quietly out of boredom.

Nalbon starts jumping around like a twelve-year-old.

Nalbon blinks.

Alendrial peers quizzically at Nalbon.

Alendrial asks, "Do we bore you?"

Faiyth says, "Maybe we should pass him."

Davenas softly says, "Give him a moment."

Nalbon says, "Sorry mustve dozed off, Ill defer to the next person asking a question."

Alendrial nods at Nalbon.

The town clerk says, "Tikba!"

Tikba smiles at Alendrial.

Tikba stands up.

Tayler adds his name to the question list.

Speaking politely to Alendrial, Tikba says, "Forgive me, but I have not been as long in the Landing as some others. I would like to ask you to clarify some past events, for my benefit."

Juramis raises an eyebrow in Irval's direction.

Alendrial says, "I will do my best."

Tikba politely asks, "I have heard it said that you were previously banished from the Landing, along with your husband. Is that correct?"

Alendrial says, "Correct."

Tikba politely asks, "What was the reason given for your banishment?"

Goldstr says, "I has nae looked in years, but da ruins of sa D;Archon's home may still be on West Rin Road."

Alendrial says, "It was so long ago...5117 seems like a lifetime." [OOC note: Assuming that it was correctly remembered to have been about Rinhale, then I believe that would put it before even 5117.]

Tikba nods sympathetically at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "I believe it was perhaps my involvement with Rinhale, and my husband's dealings so was thought..."

Alendrial says, "But I was pardoned by Mayor Cruxophim."

Tikba nods understandingly at Alendrial.

Tikba politely asks, "And you went on to become Steward of the Guilds, and have been so for several years now?"

Alendrial says, "Correct."

Kiyna corrects, "Steward of the Coffers, but yes."

Alendrial says, "...and a damn good one, I might add. The town continues to function and the silvers flow."

Alendrial nods at Kiyna.

Tikba grins wryly at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "Coffers, yes. It is late."

Alendrial chuckles.

Tikba says, "Forgive my error."

Leafiara adds, "She ended up filling the Guilds role as well for a time after Casiphia... 'convinced' Beldrin to step down from it."

Alendrial says, "The last twelve years of Wehnimer's Landing has been quite a tapestry of countless threads, it's hard to keep straight at times. Do not apologize."

Alendrial nods at Tikba.

Tikba grins wryly.

Tikba politely asks, "Were you serving as steward during the temporary appointment of Judge Manard?"

Speaking to Kelfyr, Irval says, "You might want to have that looked at."

Alendrial says, "I was, during both the new Judge and the transition into a new government."

Speaking to Irval, Kelfyr says, "I'm sure some krodera will clean it right up."

Tikba nods understandingly.

Tikba asks, "During the removal of Mayor Leafiara Autumnwind, as well, then?"

Speaking to Kelfyr, Irval says, "Well played."

Goldstr mutters donna-vote-fer.

Alendrial nods at Tikba.

Goldstr mutters amos.

Tikba politely asks, "Do you still consider, in hindsight, that all such actions and appointments were legal?"

Juramis can offer Goldstr only a blank expression.

Tikba pleasantly says, "I admit it has been many years."

Alendrial says, "If you are seeking to undermine the legitimacy of the current government, you won't get me to admit to that."

Alendrial says, "Were I in a stronger position back then, compared to what you may elect me to next week, I would have done things differently."

Tikba nods understandingly at Alendrial.

Tikba politely says, "Thank you very much."

Tikba walks over to the benches and settles down.

Davenas softly says, "Such language."

Alendrial says, "I miss Renpaw. Manard has been more fair than some would guess given the dramatics around his appointment. I would however, as Mayor, seek a new Judge election."

Alendrial says, "If it should be Manard, then it should be the people's choice."

Tikba nods approvingly at Alendrial.

Kiyna says, "We're having three elections back to back, what's one more."

Alendrial says, "Not just the Consortium. While I may have gone along with their initial movements, the mistake was in not addressing the Judge issue sooner."

Alendrial says, "No goodness, we do not need another election so soon. I would seek it come the first of the year."

Alendrial says, "I think that is fair."

Alendrial says, "No timeline has not been fair."

Question #5, from Irval

The town clerk says, "Irval!"

Irval nods.

Irval coughs.

Irval clasps his hand over his mouth.

Irval coughs.

Irval says, "A singular, loud whisper pierces the minor cacophony of voices swirling within your mind. A gruesome vision of your own death plays out in your mind."

Irval says, "Sorry."

Irval babbles something unintelligible.

Perigourd says, "Setting the stage, as it were."

Lylia snaps, "Speak, spit, or puke it out already."

Faiyth says, "He's crazy. Someone call the healers."

Davenas softly says, "Give him a moment."

Placing a hand on his skull mask, Irval struggles to remove it, markedly cursing under his breath.

Irval stares at his skull mask.

Alendrial gazes in wonder at her surroundings.

Irval says, "Sorry about that."

Irval's skull mask vanishes into the depths of his leather duster.

Alendrial says, "Not as much as we are."

Alendrial smirks.

Irval asks, ""Thank you for the oppurtunity to speak with you Alendrial, I'll be as brief as I can. Do you think your actions of the past in regards to the Turamzzyrian empire , as formerly a Rook leader and leader of Scions of Shaundara will lead to conflict with the Darkstone settlers. And as such a person who clearly and historically has been very against anything imperial. How can we to expect you to address the peace process moving forward and won't act out of revenge against the settlers and sabotage their efforts in establishing their Barony thus making us a target as well to imperial response if such a thing were to occur?"

Irval stares at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "Allow me to answer that..."

Alendrial says, "A singular, loud whisper pierces the minor cacophony of voices swirling within your mind. A gruesome vision of your own death plays out in your mind."

Juramis whispers something to Goldstr.

Alendrial smirks.

Lylia offers Alendrial an ebon-tinted glass of black currant wine.

Alendrial says, "I kid..."

Alendrial winks.

Alendrial declines Lylia's offer.

Irval babbles something unintelligible.

Alendrial grins at Lylia.

Lylia winks.

Alendrial asks, "Can I ask you a question first?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Irval.

Irval squints.

Alendrial says, "Of course I can."

Alendrial nods.

Irval asks, "Its a free landing right?"

Speaking to a town clerk, Dergoatean asks, "Is that allowed?"

Irval glances at Alendrial.

Kialeigh says, "For now."

Speaking to a town clerk, Dergoatean says, "YOU are the host, after all."

Davenas softly says, "And never again."

Irval says, "And pretty sure im not the one running for mayor..."

Irval says, "But go ahead and ask."

Alendrial says, "Imagine Irval if you will for a moment...a young child. Born into a loving family, raised right, taught to be strong, taught to be proud, taught to love others and be kind, and lift up all those around him."

Alendrial asks, "How do you think that child might be as an adult?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Irval.

Irval says, "Hopefully raised with the same qualities."

Alendrial nods.

Irval says, "And a child of the same."

Irval says, "As adult."

Alendrial says, "Precisely. Hopefully, right. But yes."

Alendrial says, "Now imagine a young child. Beaten and bruised, taught to fear, taught to cringe, taught to hate. Given a blade instead of a toy. Starved, sheltered, taught to despise others."

Alendrial asks, "How do you think that child might be as an adult?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Irval.

Irval asks, "You mean never being taught right from wrong?"

Kelfyr says, "Taught wrong is right."

Tikba evenly says, "That is not the same."

Alendrial says, "The answer is the same as before. They will grow into what they learn and know."

Alendrial says, "For ages the Empire has known of Chaston's Edict and in many regions only did what they knew, what they were trained to think, believe, see, feel..."

Alendrial says, "The Edict is gone, but, it will take a generation or more before the black hearts are too."

Irval says, "Sure. But Ive known people in similiar situations become the best of that so no one has to go through what they did and its their sole motivation in life. Its not either or. Just like that child that was given every oppurtunity to be a good person."

Irval says, "They too might actually be maliciously evil."

Alendrial says, "But I never sought revenge. That was my husband. It drove him mad. I just wanted to be safe, and to call this place home."

Alendrial says, "That has not changed."

Alendrial says, "The Barony of Darkstone is a new frontier and a new opportunity. Not just for us here, but for the imperials who call it home."

Irval nods at Alendrial.

Alendrial asks, "If we show them what we expect in return, when they grow, what do you think we'll see?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Irval.

Nalbon says, "People arent just the product of their environment, personal choice has to factor into the equation as well."

Irval says, "Fairness hopefully and to see us in them."

Alendrial says, "I only want peace with them, but not at the cost of our freedoms. But we do not ensure independence with blood duels or burning wagons and tiny black thorns."

Lylia whispers something to Evia.

Alendrial says, "We must both listen to learn, and listen to foster growth."

Alendrial nods at Irval.

Alendrial says, "Wehnimer's Landing does not need to shrink for Darkstone to exist and grow."

Question #6, from Chandrellia

A town clerk says, "A singular, loud whisper pierces the minor cacophony of voices swirling within your mind. A gruesome vision of your own death plays out in your mind.....I mean, Chandrellia!"

Speaking to a town clerk, Chandrellia says, "Yer just jealous."

Davenas softly says, "Mock it to discredit it, certainly."

Evia exclaims, "Clerk for mayor!"

Speaking to his skull mask, Irval says, "This is your fault you know."

Speaking to Alendrial, Chandrellia says, First I wuold like to say thank you for addressing our questions this eve, as late as it may be getting."

Lylia adds her name to the question list.

Speaking to Alendrial, Chandrellia asks, "My question for you is this. With so many fronts to defend around the town, Reivers, Remnants, Imperials, Krolvin. What front do you feel is the most important and how do intend to work those fronts, if you are selected for the Mayoral seat?"

Alendrial says, "The most important one is the one not mentioned in your list."

Chandrellia peers quizzically at Alendrial.

Faiyth says, "Kobolds."

Aerocus says, "You know, with all these people 'ere, not just do some street justice."

Speaking quietly to himself, Tennalnen says, "Landing first."

Alendrial says, "In a year, your list will not be Reivers, Remnants, Imperials, Krolvin. It could be Fire Mages, Volcano Kings, Grishom Stone, and Ithzir."

Evia says, "And more spiders."

Perigourd says, "A good argument for a soldier at the helm."

Alendrial says, "The horizon can be counted on for two things at all times. The rising of the sun, and a new enemy dawning."

Davenas softly says, "And snarks and grumpkins."

Dergoatean says, "Rodnay could end up deciding that Elanthia needs to go."

Alendrial says, "Our biggest threat right now, is ourselves."

Kialeigh says, "As long as it's not snakes.. we got it."

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen says, "And taxes. Can't forget about those taxes."

Speaking mildly to Alendrial, Tikba says, "A good argument for a civilian at the helm."

Speaking softly to Kialeigh, Davenas says, "It's snakes of a different kind."

Speaking to Alendrial, Dergoatean says, "Only about half the horizons are good for a rising sun."

Alendrial says, "The division. The cracks. Voices shouting at one another, spreading pamphlets of lies, rousing crowds, declaring untruths, slinging insults and fear mongering...."

Kialeigh says, "Don't forget murders."

Speaking to Alendrial, Chandrellia asks, "Very well then, what is your standing on what you just mentioned?"

Chandrellia asks, "How do you intend to help bring us as a town together again?"

Alendrial says, "We will never see eye to eye all of the time as a people of this town. Our differences, while they can wound us, they are also one of our greatest strengths if used properly."

Chandrellia nods at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "By listening, by saying the quiet things aloud that we need to. By making policy that clearly defines our allies, our expectations, and the lines in which we will live within."

Chandrellia nods at Alendrial.

Speaking to Alendrial, Chandrellia says, "Thank you for your time."

Alendrial says, "The waters are too muddy currently. There is too much chaos, too many voices shouting. But not everyone is right. Not everyone can be right. We still must do what IS right for Wehnimer's Landing."

Alendrial says, "We cannot hope to defeat the Ember Vale on the battlefield if our own people have daggers at each other."

Question #7, from Kelfyr

A town clerk says, "Kelfyr!"

Kelfyr stands up.

Kelfyr says, "Madam Steward."

Kelfyr nods at Alendrial.

Kelfyr asks, "Previously you mentioned the new borders drawn by the Empire as part of their annexation and creation of the Darkstone Barony, alluding to the Landing's need to further establish its rightful territorial claims. I'm curious, in your view, what areas do those territorial boundaries cover?"

Juramis glances at Kelfyr and rubs his chin thoughtfully.

Alendrial says, "That is a hefty topic that would require heavy consideration, a length of discussions, with our own people, our own leaders, and also the future Baron Elidal. It is not something easily answered on a campaign stump."

Kelfyr says, "I ask because your opponent, just last night, claimed that we should have rights to territory across the river."

Alendrial says, "Lines should be drawn to protect our future, and our resources, but also not be done in a manner to invite more conflict."

Evia says, "And with those who would inevitably defend said borders."

Alendrial says, "One of my opponents will say anything you wish to hear."

Alendrial chuckles.

Davenas softly says, "Living space, certainly."

Irval says, "Land is only claimed by conquest or coin..."

Alendrial says, "But I might remind you, lines do not stop enemies, anymore than walls do."

Faiyth says, "Usually by blood."

Faiyth says, "Lots of it."

Kelfyr says, "Thank you for your time."

Kelfyr nods.

Kelfyr walks over to the benches and settles down.

Alendrial says, "Even if we lay claim to land and draw up territory, we must continue to foster peace and mutual benefit and respect, while still building strength."

Tennalnen says, "Even the roltons make it past our gates."

Question #8, from Tayler

A town clerk says, "Tayler!"

Evia adds her name to the question list.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tayler asks, "I originally had a complicated question, but we've seen a lot of those... so, what does the Landing mean to you?"

Alendrial asks, "Do you know of where I came from?"

Alendrial peers quizzically at Tayler.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tayler says, "I do not."

Alendrial nods.

Alendrial says, "I am from Idolone."

Alendrial gasps.

Alendrial says, "The Empire."

Alendrial smirks.

Juramis coughs.

Lylia dryly remarks, "Burn the witch."

Alendrial says, "But on my wedding night, I was chased..."

Alendrial says, "They did chant such."

Alendrial nods at Lylia.

Lylia smiles at Alendrial.

Lylia says, "As one witch to another, I find the sentiment amusing."

Alendrial says, "Stephos and I fled Idolone. Those of his circle, of his influential court, hated my blood."

Tayler grins at Lylia.

Tayler nods slowly at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "They stormed our home like wild trolls."

Speaking to herself, Chandrellia says, "That sounds familair."

Alendrial says, "He brought me here. I had heard of Wehnimer's Landing, I had never seen it, or experienced it."

Lylia says, "I shall not hear that, Irval."

Alendrial says, "I wish I could say every day here has been happy."

Alendrial says, "It has not."

Speaking to Alendrial, Goldstr asks, "Yer husband, Stephos, was a da Silver Fist?"

Alendrial asks, "But if given the chance, to Pylasar back into time and navigate my husband's ship to another port? another future?"

Alendrial says, "I would not do it."

Tayler nods at Alendrial.

Dergoatean says, "You heard it here, folks. Pylasar has been verbed."

Alendrial says, "Wehnimer's Landing is a place where I have never, on any given day of my life since arriving here, had to be worried of being chased from my bedroom because of my half-elven blood."

Goldstr exclaims, "I do miss da Purple Mage!"

Alendrial says, "If I can serve in any capacity to ensure that same feeling is experienced by every other citizen? That is why I do this, that is why I seek the office."

Alendrial says, "Despite our differences, we are still a bastion. We still have promise."

Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "Could just set him alight in cleansing balefire."

Question #9, from Lylia

A town clerk says, "Lylia!"

Lylia nods to a town clerk.

Tayler says, "Thank you."

Lylia turns to face Alendrial.

Speaking amusedly to Lylia, Kayse says, "I will call on you in that moment when it is needed."

Speaking to Alendrial, Lylia asks, "You said something interesting in reply to an earlier question, something about your husband having been driven mad by resentment and rage. While of course we are not our husbands and stand on our own merits, do you feel his past misdeeds could affect voters' perceptions of you -- and how would you wish to change their minds if they did make this egregious error?"

Lylia concludes, "In other words, I would like you to leave us with a lasting impression of who you are, on your own, to close the night's discussion."

Lylia says, "Which you largely have in the prior answer."

Lylia smiles.

Nalbon adds his name to the question list.

[General] Khaell asks, "Are you a sunfist paladin, Abeer?"

Alendrial says, "I would hope those of sound and logical mind of Wehnimer's Landing would be wise enough not to judge me based on my husband's deeds, good or bad, anymore than they would judge you based on Silvean or Xorus."

Lylia nods at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "We are not the sins of others. We have enough of our own. We do not need to carry theirs either."

Pukk says, "Soon to be Gutstorm."

Speaking to Pukk, Stormyrain mouths, "Balefire."

Lylia adds, "Not that I would mind that, of course."

Lylia rests a gentle hand on Xorus's arm.

Xorus dryly says, "I am pure as the whitest snow."

Lylia glances skeptically at Xorus.

Alendrial says, "As for a message of what to take away from me..."

Lylia nods at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "It is difficult to fully capture. Words are just that. I could weave them all day."

Lylia nods understandingly at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "But I have never led in any position within this town in a way that has jeopardized our endangered our people. I have not let emotions taint my office, or blind my movements."

Alendrial says, "I can promise the same approach as Mayor. What is good for the town, not for me, not for perception, not for profit..."

Alendrial says, "But for Wehnimer's Landing."

A town clerk says, "There's two more questions, the list is closed!"

Question #10, from Evia

A town clerk says, "Evia!"

Lylia nods appreciatively at Alendrial.

Speaking to Alendrial, Evia asks, "We have hard so many questions concerning actions and circumstances of the past. But of the present and future, what are your 5 top goals to achieve within your term of office should you become Mayor, and do any of the 5 include development of eductional opportunities?"

Dergoatean says, "Flax..."

Alendrial begins chuckling at Dergoatean!

Alendrial says, "I feel like if I do mention Flax, I earn your vote."

Alendrial nods at Evia.

Evia places a hand over her heart.

Juramis whispers something to Kiyna.

Evia softly runs a finger over her blue flax flower, as if assuring herself that it has not come loose.

Speaking to Evia, Tayler asks, "But if we teach the orphans to read, how will we keep getting bandit bounties?"

Evia says, "Why people think this is beyond me."

Evia stares off into space.

Juramis whispers something to Kiyna.

Evia pours herself a chalice of red wine.

Evia helps herself to a buttery cheese crab cake.

Evia takes a bite of her cheese crab cake.

Alendrial says, "Some of my first priorities will be addressing the threat of the Remnants and the Reivers in a swift and lasting way. I would also seek to forge trade and land and mutual agreements with the fledgling Darkstone Barony. Now is our time to reposition ourselves and grow from it. I would seek more naval protections, so that a prideful and depraved rogue Captain cannot sink and threaten our citizens, and I am working on a way forward so that the Brotherhood of Rooks can find a life of promise above and not beneath."

Evia applauds Alendrial.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen asks, "To clarify, the bad reivers, not the good ones?"

Alendrial says, "Correct."

Tennalnen nods understandingly.

Dergoatean says, "I think that's just four things though."

Question #11, from Nalbon

A town clerk says, "Nalbon!"

Dergoatean says, "She clearly asked for five."

Alendrial says, "Four is all you get tonight."

Alendrial chuckles.

Dergoatean says, "You know what the fifth one is supposed to be..."

Evia asks, "And the education?"

Evia whistles tunelessly to herself.

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen says, "Keep em wanting more."

Lylia says, "That would make five."

Alendrial says, "Education is important of course."

Alendrial nods at Evia.

Nalbon asks, "Several times duringthis discussion youve mentioned freedom. And several times youve also made reference to the town best interest and the common good. If elected whats to stop you from abridging those freedoms?"

Evia asks, "Rope?"

Nalbon grins at Evia.

Speaking to Evia, Chandrellia says, "Did you have to mention rope."

Alendrial says, "Nothing."

Alendrial says, "I can stand here and promise you anything you want to hear. But I have not."

Alendrial says, "You can trust me, or you cannot. I have never put this town in danger, or ever sought to let emotions or profit guide my decisions."

Alendrial asks, "Can you say that of the other two candidates?"

Speaking to Alendrial, Dergoatean says, "Amos? Profit? Never."

Kialeigh says, "We'd have to buy less chairs.. that's the main point."

Davenas softly asks, "Am I evil when the other two might be more?"

Alendrial asks, "Can you know for certain that Amos would not act or vote in favor of profit over Wehnimer's Landing?"

Pukk says, "Thadston always has control of his emotions."

Alendrial asks, "Likewise, do you know for certain Thadston would not act or vote in favor of Casiphia over Wehnimer's Landing?"

Kialeigh says, "But you could just as soon throw shoes or something and we'll be in a different dilemma."

Juramis huskily says, "It helps when you only are capable of one emotion."

Juramis nods at Pukk.

Alendrial asks, "Is it shoes, because I am a woman and weak and I cannot lift a chair?"

Speaking to Kialeigh, Lylia says, "Terrible waste of good shoes."

Alendrial peers quizzically at Kialeigh.

Davenas softly says, "Maybe I won't light the fire, even if I build it."

Speaking to Kialeigh, Chandrellia says, "Only if they go around corners like boomerangs."

Speaking to Juramis, Leafiara admits, "Okay, that's uncharacteristically funny from you. I respect it."

Alendrial says, "I can throw chairs."

Davenas softly says, "Anyone can."

Speaking to Alendrial, Tayler says, "I have been hit with a high heeled stiletto before. It is not pleasant I assure you."

Kialeigh groans at Alendrial.

Alendrial says, "I do not throw them because I cannot. I do not throw them because I will not."

Kialeigh says, "Don't even jest..."

Speaking to Alendrial, Goldstr says, "I tinks Sir Andrews now controlss his thoughts on Casi."

Speaking to himself, Dergoatean says, "Who throws a shoe? Honestly."

Nalbon says, "Thanks for your time."

Speaking to Goldstr, Pukk says, "My neck begs to differ."

A town clerk says, "I think that's our final question Lady Alendrial!"

Davenas softly says, "Trust the spider even if you don't see the web."

Alendrial nods at Nalbon.

Question #12, from Kiyna

Speaking to Alendrial, Kiyna says, "...I realize the list is closed, but I would like to ask one more question, if I may."

Alendrial peers quizzically at Kiyna.

A town clerk says, "We'll allow it."

Goldstr says, "Ye nae Cassi."

Speaking to a town clerk, Leafiara says, "A courteous host."

Irval says, "I think Juramis had a question as well..."

Juramis peers quizzically at Irval.

Juramis huskily asks, "I do?"

Speaking to Alendrial, Kiyna asks, "One of the first things our council did upon our election was bring a proposal to Thadston of a document ensuring the rights of the Landing citizens. Something difficult to overturn. An obstacle to future abuses of power from those who find themselves in power through... unorthodox means. Thadston thoroughly rejected the idea at the time. Would you consider it?"

Irval says, "Yes you do."

Alendrial says, "I will consider anything that comes to my desk. I wield a quill, not a crown."

Speaking coldly to Irval, Lylia commands, "If you wish to malign a woman with salacious but humorless jests, do not do it by whispering in the ear of another woman. You have already spoken enough for others tonight."

Davenas softly says, "I will rule you with a paper shield."

Kiyna nods at Alendrial.

Concluding

Alendrial says, "I believe that is all for tonight. I want to thank you all for your time, and questions."

Speaking to Alendrial, Tennalnen says, "Thank you again so very much for answering our questions. It was a pleasure to hear more about your platform, and gives me much to consider. I wish you a pleasant evening."

Juramis bows to Alendrial.

Kelfyr says, "Thank you for coming."

Speaking to Alendrial, Chandrellia says, "Thank you."

Leafiara sincerely says, "A pleasure of an evening, Steward Alendrial."

Kialeigh says, "Yes it was very entertaining."

Evia says, "Thank you for the evening."

Alendrial bows.

Juramis huskily says, "Best of luck in the coming election, Lady DeArchon."

Alendrial says, "Good night to you all."

Davenas softly says, "This was something, certainly."

Alendrial nods at Juramis.

Lady Alendrial just went through a double door.

Speaking to a town clerk, Tennalnen says, "And one must not forget our host."

Dergoatean says, "Thank you."

Davenas softly says, "I don't know if it was enlightening."

Juramis chuckles to himself.

Evia says, "Thank you Lylia for the cheese."

Speaking to Lylia, Pukk says, "You know. If you try to sell Irval a couple of times, even if you don't, it relieves the stress."

Leafiara says, "Two town halls down, one to go."

Juramis huskily says, "Some wine does sound about right, after all of... that."

Dergoatean says, "I found this one substantially less rage-inducing."

Speaking to Lylia, Irval says, "I thought this was Wehnimer's landing, not whine more landing."

The town clerk says, "See you all tomorrow night for a Town Hall with Thadston!"

Lylia says, "I set out an ample supply. If anyone wants to have a morsel or two, it is all laid out still."

Kialeigh asks, "Bring yer armor?"

Juramis huskily asks, "Will your chair have three, or four legs?"

Tikba politely says, "She is very persuasive."

Speaking to Leafiara, Pukk says, "I'm afraid to show up for that one. He might try to wring our necks again."

The town clerk says, "Standing only. No chairs." He belly laughs and walks out.

Tayler offers Juramis a glass of rich Maelshyve shiraz.

Leafiara remarks, "Good move."

Juramis accepts Tayler's Maelshyve shiraz.

Tennalnen says, "I wish everyone a good evening, and safe hunting."

Juramis nods at Tayler.

Juramis huskily asks, "This one of yours?"

Juramis peers quizzically at Tayler.

Juramis nods approvingly.

Kiyna says, "I would say these are benches, but he could still scatter them like toothpicks."

Juramis huskily says, "Good evening."

Juramis sniffs at his Maelshyve shiraz.

Speaking to Irval, Lylia says, "I would not waste my breath."

Speaking to Juramis, Tayler says, "It is, and quite fine stuff if I do say so myself."

Juramis takes a drink from his Maelshyve shiraz.
