Subject: The Beginning
Sunlight crested the peak of the mountain to cast its golden warmth upon the landscape below. Aspen trees, magically locked in their autumn hues, quaked as their limbs stretched towards the light. Until recently, the grove of white-barked trees shared the land with a dozen towering sycamore trees. Those sheltering arboreal giants were gone now, their severed trunks all that remained of them in a glade that was one part mud and one part frozen grasses.
Siethidi gazed upon the changing scene, his handiwork at his grandmother's bidding. Behind him, the scholars and denizens of Summit Academy watched on with curiosity. If they had questions, if they had concerns, then none were shared with him. Ahead of him, three different projects began to come together and each day they grew closer to completion.
Stripes of cloth could be glimpsed amid the aspen grove to the west of where he stood and he knew that tomorrow furniture would be moved into the inn rooms built beneath their boughs. He had commissioned two structures upon the edge of the grove that would give his grandmother comfort during her stay and keep her out of the betrayer's spire. To the east, the Rumor Woods had been culled to create a large open field that was surrounded by viewing stands. Tents popped up upon either side of the wooden structures as more and more merchants flocked to his call.
And above it all, from every corner, the pennants fluttered and snapped in the breeze.
His blood quickened when he thought of the cries that would echo through the air and he knew that the Battle of the Phoenix and the Serpent would take place soon.
Turning, he began to make his way towards the northwestern edges of the Rumor Woods. There was a man there, a hunter of sorts, that he needed to talk with about the denizens that lived there. With luck, his plan of them would unfold as smoothly as the others.

Subject: A Fun Game
Last evening, we decided to play a spur of the moment game on Discord. The following is the result of that game.
Haliste: We're gonna play a game. Head's up to whomever is actively watching and paying attention in here. So here's the deal. You get to ask questions in here about the upcoming June event, and I'll answer them. However...ONE question at a time. You will have to show restraint! If you toss out two questions before the first has been answered, the game is over. So you guys need to figure out who's gonna ask questions or work out amongst yourselves that no one is gonna ask questions over another person unless it has been answered.
These were the rules. Someone took notice that a player was typing a question!
>Weasel: Go, Cowboy. You're typing!
>Cowboy: Will these mounts be usable outside the event?
>Sparky: Are we going to have mounts outside the event?
And that was it. The game was over before it began.
So I decided to show some mercy and let the game proceed with different rules. Now, it was a 5 minute rule. And the timer started at 8:25. I failed a little bit and went slightly beyond that. But, here are the questions and answers for those who don't frequent Discord.
Q: Whata kind of mounts? A: Horses. Q: (From the big fail) A: Mounts can be used outside of the event. Q: How is the weight reduction stuff going to work, certs for existing containers, new containers? A: Weight reduction is set to work on any container. I am not sure about ones that have already received weight reduction through other means (ie: Duskruin or another script) Q: Can they hold things? A: Only the inventory they can wear, and they cannot wear containers. Q: is there jousting? A: The event will have jousting. Q: is there going to be any summit academy customization stuff? A: Yes on customizations. Q: can we train them in jumping and/or dressage? A: No training at this time. Q: are they 1 per account? A: No. If you want 10 mounts, have at it. Q: Is there anything for fusion? What is sylinar doing at this event? A: There is a story about Sylinar on the forums. He's been ousted. Q: Does the guy replacing him do any work in fusion or enhancives? A: Enhancives are moving to another event, as Summit Academy is being repurposed. Q: Is my mount at risk from bandits or aoe A: Your mount will never die completely, if it dies. If you obtain a mount, it's yours forever. Until you sell it off to someone else. You can also sell/trade horses. Q: Any weighting happening at the event? A: No weighting. WPS will be back at Duskruin. Q: Will the mount verb work? A: Yes. Q: did you answer about what actions they could do including sitting on gnomes? A: Actions? I'm leaving most of that up to discovery. Q: I'm hoping the "if you get a horse" (I guess something I said earlier in the chat...) means if you want to get the currency needed less than there won't be enough to go around... A: Mounts are not limited for the event or for players. If you want 10, go for it. If you want 1, great. If you don't want any, that's okay too. Q: is 10 the max? A: There is no max. Q: I want a pony. Not a horse. A: No ponies. Q: Wait, can I fly? Pegasus or gryphons! A: No flying mounts right now. Q: Will mounts appear in your player description? A: Yes. Q: ...we never got an answer on either breeding or genders. A: No breeding. Yes genders. Q: Can I use my bow from horseback? A: There is no combat on mounts. Q: Are the boosts for the mounts or our characters? A: Characters. Q: Will the mounts provide some kind of mechanical benefit? A: Mounts do not currently provide mechanical benefits. Q: do we get to dress them up in pretty tack? blankets, legwraps, braid their manes and tails? A: There are features for mounts. There are inventory items for mounts. Q: can they swim? A: No. Q: ...will they follow you if you aren't riding one? er, yours. A: No. Q: Can I unlock the loresong of my horse? A: Horses do not have loresongs. Q: can anyone alter horse looks, or only through certain things? A: Right now, horse alterations are limited. Q: limited by person or venue? A: those could very well be one in the same. Q: Can plat get a new bonus where we all get altered horses? A: Probably not. Q: Can I feed my horse apples and or carrots? A: Yes! Horses will eat specific things. And not eat other specific things. Discovery. Q: Can my horse have a braided mane and ribbons in its tail? A: Possibly... Q: Can my horse have wings? A: No. Q: Can my horse have tentacles? A: No. Q: ...do mounts have saddlebags? Can they carry stuff around for you (other than their own tack)? A: Mounts will not be able to wear containers at this time. Q: i wonder if groups can mount the same horse A: No. Horses will allow one person to ride them. Q: different breeds of horses? draft horses, etc. A: There are varieties, but your common mount is a horse. This is our release event, and there will be much more down the line. Q: What non horse things can we look forward too at this event? Also if you are running around in the wilds and go back to town do you have to stop at the stable before you can go inside any buildings? Or can you dismount anywhere and not worry about it. Is there upkeep? A: There are lots of non-horse things at this event. More information is coming. Q: As a giantkin, am I required to obtain a much larger steed than the little people and thus, beholden to higher upkeep costs? A: No. Q: I know this is way after like the q&a but any more info on these boosts? A: Not yet. RSN.
If I left anything out, forgive me. We've worked really hard to make this event special. We all hope you enjoy it.

Two quick updates:
You should no longer be dismounted when attacked, unless you receive damage. Most forms of attack are outright blocked from being initiated by the mounted player, but if you somehow manage to perform an attack, that will also dismount you. No more roltons dismounting you though, unless they manage to actually hit you.
Most objects that blocked the mounts before should now allow you to pass. This includes town gates (after you pay the fee), the footpath from the Landing to EN (after you search it out), the icy river, the rockslide, etc.

A few more updates:
* The existing movement code was rewritten, which should mostly be invisible to you, but if you notice any issues, please post/BUG/BUGITEM it. * If there are any locations outside of towns, specifically along paths between towns, that block mounts, please BUG the room or BUGITEM the specific obstacle (e.g. the river in "go river"). * You can now lead or be a member of groups while mounted. * Mounted players can now make use of multi-movement, which has 2 parts and must be prefixed with "go":
1) You can specify 2 directions to move in one command. e.g. "go s se`
>go s se You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed south. [Wehnimer's, Exterior] As you stand next to the southwest corner of the Landing, you have an unobstructed view of the plain. Some distance away you can make out the vague figures of shepherdesses tending their flocks of Rolton -- sheep indigenous to the region. Further south the grassy expanse turns hilly, eventually terminating in stark mountains that line the horizon. You also see a wooden signpost. Obvious paths: north, southeast, southwest You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed southeast. [Wehnimer's, Exterior] The dirt path bends around the southwest corner of the landing. Far to the east, you can see a thin blue line that must be the river. You also see a rolton skeleton, a yellow silk ribbon and a heap of splintered timbers and torn hide. Obvious paths: east, northwest
2) You can specify up to 8 of the same direction to move in one command. e.g. "go w w w w w"
>go w w w w w You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed west. [Vornavis, West Road] Dry grasses stretch out in a plain to the south of the path here. Amber fields of tall swaying grass wave hypnotically in the slight, steady breeze. The rustling hiss of the grasses in the breeze sets the mind at ease. Obvious paths: east, west You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed west. [Vornavis, West Road] The fields to the south of the path here change from amber to the east to green and lush to the west. The fields have no paths or roads leading into them, but occasionally, the tall grasses are crushed or swept to one side as if by a traveler or a large animal. You also see a small mound. Obvious paths: east, west You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed west. [Vornavis, West Road] The road continues to the east into a wide, flat area marked by fields of tall grasses. To the west, a small wooded area crosses the road, becoming more dense and lush far to the north. The road remains well defined, and wagon wheel ruts show regular use. You also see a rocky footpath leading up into the woods. Obvious paths: east, west You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed west. [Vornavis, West Road] The road travels through a very sparsely wooded area for a stretch here. The woods are not dense, and allow direct sunlight to touch the forest floor. This is either the beginning of a very young forest, or the end of a very old one. Obvious paths: east, west You ride a fiery-eyed nightmare steed west. [Vornavis, West Road] To the east, a small wooded area crosses the path, and vibrant green leaves cling to trees swaying in the breeze. The road slopes sharply downward for a stretch before turning toward the southwest. A clump of holly bushes to the north of the path here looks out of place. Obvious paths: east, southwest
A normal creature won't get the opportunity to attack you when using multi-movement, but anything that could trigger when entering or exiting a room still applies (webs, ice patches, etc). Multi-movement will work for a group if all members have mounts. Non-mounted peasants are left behind. Multi-movement is a base feature of all mounts and is different from Fast Travel, which will be a separate unlock.

Subject: Mounts: Fast Travel
Mounts will have 2 separate unlocks for Fast Travel. Each unlock is tied to the character ("riding skill"), so if you have more than one mount, it works for all of them.
The first Fast Travel unlock is Town to Hunting Grounds. You will be able to use your mount from within town to instantly go to any number of hunting grounds for your local area. As an example (and this is purely an example, any or all the locations listed below are not guaranteed to be available in the end product), you will get a list of locations and be able to pick one of these while in the Landing:
Cavernhold, Main Hall (gnoll workers, gnoll thiefs, gnoll rangers, gnoll guards, gnoll priests) Spider Temple, Entry Hall Upper Trollfang (lesser orcs, cockatrices, forest trolls) Graveyard, Crypt Mine Road (manticores, lesser orcs, goblins, kobolds, thraks) Mine (cave trolls, troglodytes, cave gnomes, cave nippers, greater spiders, cave worms, crystal golems) Upper Trollfang, Glatoph (ice trolls, steel golems, snow crones, ice skeletons, fire guardians, ice trolls firephantoms, frost giants) Lysierian Hills, Valley (pumas, krolvin warriors, krolvin mercenaries, krolvin warfarers) Monastery, Misty Chamber (monastic liches, spectral monks) Kobold Village, Commons (kobolds, big ugly kobolds) Darkstone, Outer Chamber (troll kings, harbingers) Sea Caverns (goblins) Wehntoph, Labyrinth (minotaurs) Wehnimer's Sewer, Nexus (giant rats) Castle Anwyn Gatehouse (carcerises, hornets, arch wights, moaning spirits) Stronghold, Entry (stone giants, Illoke mystics, stone mastiffs, Illoke shamans, stone giants)
In most cases, the mount will not allow you to circumvent normal obstacles (skill and level checks), but can get you closer to the desired area than as if you had to walk all the way. A common exception to that rule is if you can teleport there with a gold ring, a mount will probably be able to take you there too. After your hunt, you can return to the same room, then Fast Travel back to town. You may use this type of Fast Travel with no cooldown.
The second type of Fast Travel will be Town to Town. Your mount will take you on a relatively short journey as you move from one town's stables to another. It will be similar to the caravan system that is used to travel from Solhaven to the Sanctum of Scales (but with no bandits). It will be quicker than walking and will only take a few minutes to go to most towns. This type of travel is taxing on your mount and may only be performed once per day.
Both unlocks will be available to purchase for 50,000 raikhen at each town's local stables once released in the near future.

You tap an equine groomer's kit that you are wearing.
Flannihan fiddles with something inside his groomer's kit and pulls out a rounded walnut-backed currycomb.
Working his way methodically from neck to tail, Flannihan curries in a circular motion across his chestnut horse's coat. Loosened flecks of dirt, hair, and dander from the skin collect on the surface of the horse's coat, ready to be brushed away.
Flannihan fiddles with something inside his groomer's kit and pulls out a dark-stained boar bristled brush.
Flannihan flicks his boar bristled brush in short, rapid strokes from his chestnut horse's neck to its tail. He follows the grain of the coat, removing loose dirt, dust, and hair. Tiny clouds of particles flit off into the air before settling slowly toward the ground.
Flannihan fiddles with something inside his groomer's kit and pulls out a silver mane and tail comb.
>
Flannihan begins the painstaking task of unwrapping the tangled strands of individual hairs caught within the strong metal teeth of his mane and tail comb.
Flannihan fiddles with something inside his groomer's kit and pulls out a lacquered ebon handled hoof pick.
Resting his chestnut horse's front leg on his lowered knee Flannihan uses his hoof pick to pry gently at a small stone lodged on the inner surface of the upturned hoof.
The Gallant Groom shop will be offering four grooming tools to keep your horse's coat clean and healthy. (Zesty messaging only, this doesn't change your horse at all.) You will also find beltworn kits to keep your tools in, a couple of the kits are specific to this run only. Each tool has a few different verbs - this is just a sampling. There's even a verb that will work even if you don't have a horse...
Gripping a lacquered ebon handled hoof pick between his thumb and index finger, Flannihan gives it a spin and catches it between his index and middle fingers. Repeating the action, he smoothly walks it between each of his fingers in turn, then spins it back to its starting point. He finishes the manual acrobatics with a flourish, flipping the ebon handled hoof pick repeatedly in the air.

What's a lover of mounted combat to do when not at Rumor Woods? Well, Fitzwobbin decided to let you take it with you. He has been hard at work creating an entirely new class of Siegery Miniature specifically around mounted combat. This new class of miniature will only be available at the Horsing Around shop in Rumor Woods.
Mounted miniatures will receive a bonus when attacking infantry miniatures but a penalty when attacking castles or siege engines.
Along with repair cases, castle, and siege machine miniatures, a select few fully customized mounted miniatures will be available.
You tap a dwarven boar rider miniature, which is in your right hand.
>look my mini
Mounted on a tawny bristle-haired boar, a stout dwarf in gleaming plate mail hoists a massive war hammer overhead. Curved eonake-shod tusks jut from either side of the beast's snout, a fearsome counterpart to the heavy eonake plate covering the boar's head and neck. Scratched into the bottom of one hoof are the words, "Rumor Woods."

Greetings,
We are pleased to present to you two new materials from the Erithi homeland. They are surita and agita.
Material Name: Surita (Pronounced: SIR-ee-tah)
Material Description: Grown in alpine climates, the surita is a magically produced combination of an enchanted agate and a sumac species known only to Atan Irith. Completely leafless during its life cycle, the surita's bark curls into thin strips once a month to reveal new growth beneath. The tree reaches its maturity when its spindled limbs begin to produce crystalline tears called Agita, which can be harvested and polished to create decorative ornamentation. The wood garnered from harvesting has bands of crystalline structures within its growth rings.
Due to the "Three Calamities" of its creation, both growing and harvesting of surita is closely guarded and monitored. Since the tree produces no seedlings, flowers, or leaves, it is impossible to say how the Erithi continue to produce new specimens.
In color, the bark of the surita is typically the grey of storm clouds. The curling bark is, by contrast, pure white on its underside. The wood grain varies into six distinct hues:
Storm: grey wood grain striated with intense turquoise augmented by varying shades of light blue
Aura: grey wood grain striated with niveous veins accented by pink, lilac, and saffron hues
Dusk: ebon wood grain striated with lavender veins accented by rose and carnelian hues
Dawn: ebon wood grain striated with crimson veins accented by goldenrod and pumpkin hues
Ocean: white wood grain striated by moss agate and indigo hues
Summit: white wood grain striated by plum and chocolate brown hues
The above hue descriptions can be used when referencing the "color" of the wood since its magical properties prohibit dyeing. For instance, a runestaff could be: a slender dawn surita runestaff. Hue variants do not need to be referenced in the item's description.
Material Name: Agita (Pronounced: AH-gee-tah)
Material Description: Resembling amber in thickness and opaqueness, the agita is the crystallized product of sap bleeding from the surita tree as it reaches maturity and is ready for harvest. The incredibly dense structure is naturally wrought in a teardrop shape that is impervious to reshaping, though it does come in a variety of sizes. Smooth on the surface, the interior is an explosion of hues and comes in the same colorings as the trees that produce it, yet is devoid completely of the grain hue of its origins. As a result, the agita comes in the following varieties:
Storm - intense turquoise augmented by varying shades of light blue
Aura - niveous flecked with pink, lilac, and saffron hues
Dusk - lavender veins with rose and carnelian inclusions
Dawn – crimson striated by goldenrod and pumpkin hues
Ocean – moss green veined with indigo
Summit – plum swirled with chocolate brown
Due to its inability to be reshaped, drilled, or bored, the agita is typically used for ornamentation by creating a cage of either wire, metal, or stitching. Lattice-stitching with metallic threads has grown in popularity in Atan Irith and is used to bind the material to the cloth as either neckline ornaments or buttons, while single pieces are usually showcased upon the toes of slippers or yatanes. Smaller specimens have been fashioned into a variety of jewelry. Earbobs that are fused to metal and pendants that are encased in cages. The most famous of the cage varieties is the basket-weave cage made of fine wire.
Thanks to the work of GM Sindin, there will be a shop at Rumor Woods that features these new materials.
The runestaves are his design, but the script is my creation and has two tiers. There are certificates available there to unlock them. The Second Tier allows for the verbs to be strung together. You'll want to play with it to test out the results.

Subject: Surita Runestaves
Hello,
The unlock certificate for the surita runestaff is for verb-traps only. It will unlock an additional 4 verbs. Here's some information on the tiers:
Tier 1
Bow
1st Person – Holding your dusk surita runestaff horizontally at your hip, you place your left leg behind you and bow deeply from the waist.
2nd Person – Holding her dusk surita runestaff horizontally at her hip, Thandiwe places her left leg behind her and bows deeply from the waist.
Gaze
1st Person – Placing your hand on the top of your dusk surita runestaff, you draw one foot up to rest flatly upon your thigh and easily balance on your remaining leg. You draw three deep breaths and let the stress of the day release from you with each exhale.
2nd Person – Placing her hand on the top of her dusk surita runestaff, Thandiwe draws one foot up to rest flatly upon her thigh and easily balances on her remaining leg. She draws three deep breaths and slowly exhales them.
Salute
1st Person – Touching the top of your dusk surita runestaff to your head, you offer a small salute as a greeting.
2nd Person – Thandiwe touches her dusk surita runestaff to the top of her head and offers a small salute as a greeting.
Stretch
1st Person – Gracefully bending at the waist, you lay an ebon-hued dusk surita runestaff with lavender striations on the floor at your feet and use it as a focus for your stretching. Rising to your tiptoes, you extend your legs, arching your back, and instantly feel relief in your spine and hips. You breathe deeply three times, slowly exhaling each one, and then rise in a smooth, fluid motion.
2nd Person – Gracefully bending at the waist, Thandiwe lays an ebon-hued dusk surita runestaff with lavender striations on the floor at her feet. Rising to her tiptoes, she extends her legs and arches her back. she remains in this pose for three long breaths and then rises in a single fluid motion.
Tier 2
You can string together the verbs in Tier 2 to do a fluid series of movements. If you do not trigger the correct second move, the you are pulled from the chain back into a ready stance. If you do them all correctly, then all four verbs chain together like a kata and a few seconds after, a 5th messaging appears that ends the kata. For now, here are the verbs if they are not strung together with their primers. As a hint, pull starts it all off.
Poke
1st Person – Gripping your dusk surita runestaff firmly in your hand, you stab at the air with its top as if punctuating your point.
2nd Person - Gripping her dusk surita runestaff firmly in hand, Thandiwe stabs at the air with its top as if punctuating her point.
Pull
1st Person – You grip your dusk surita runestaff with both hands, your right hand sliding to just below the grip, while the left slides higher. Breathing deeply, you slide one foot upon the floor, positioning it slightly behind you while raising the runestaff over your head as if ready to strike.
2nd Person - Thandiwe grips her dusk surita runestaff with both hands, her right sliding just below the grip while her left slides slightly higher. Breathing deeply, she slides one foot upon the floor, positioning it slightly behind her while raising the runestaff over her head as if ready to strike.
Spin
1st Person – Planting your dusk surita runestaff firmly upon the ground, you briefly jump up and place your feet upon its smooth surface, allowing your momentum to briefly spin you in place.
2nd Person - Planting her dusk surita runestaff firmly upon the ground, Thandiwe briefly jumps and places both her feet upon its smooth surface, allowing her momentum to briefly spin her in place.
Wave
1st Person – Tucking your dusk surita runestaff under your arm, just below its grip, you twist your body in a sudden movement that causes the runestaff to whistle in the space before you.
2nd Person – Tucking her dusk surita runestaff under her arm, just below its grip, Thandiwe twists her body in a sudden movement that causes the runestaff to whistle in the space before her.
When I get some time later on, I'll do the horse hair jewelry, too.

Well it's not mounts or surita runestaffs, but it's a new little toy for everyone who's wanted to smell nicer: Fragrant Clothing!
How it works: Poiret & Co. will be selling special gloves and handkerchiefs that can be scented, and which offer numerous interactions showing off their scent with targeted players or simple observers.
Where do the scents come from? The existing perfume system! That's right: you can perfume these gloves and hankies with your favorite scent you already know and love. Any perfume! Even ones that haven't been released yet! Just a dash of fragrance and you're good to go. Scents last four hours and can only be changed once they have worn off.
Presently, Fragrant Clothing is available in two tiers. Tier 1 and Tier 2 have the same functionality, with the only difference being more verbs unlocked with Tier 2. Certificates will be available for purchase to unlock Fragrant Clothing items to Tier 2.
Along with Fragrant Clothing, a new series of five perfumes are going on sale, created in tribute to special places in the Tamzyrrian Empire. Five previously-released scents created in tribute to the monuments of Ta'Illistim will also be available for purchase.
I hope you enjoy these! Thanks to GM Haliste for her work coding this.

We're introducing a couple boosts for sale at Rumor Woods! These will be available in the same area where you'll find the weight reduction NPC.
- a lustrous serpent-shaped orb - 250 raikhen - Provides a Double Experience Boost when rubbed. These boosts are the same type that are also available as Daily Login Rewards and double the amount of base experience you earn per pulse for 15 minutes.
- a luminous phoenix-shaped orb - 225 raikhen - Provides a Fast Experience Absorption Boosts when rubbed. These boosts are new and increase the amount of base experience you absorb per pulse by 50% for 15 minutes. The bonus is applied before other modifiers (RPAs, etc.) and doesn't provide bonus experience, but instead cause you to absorb field experience into real experience faster.
Rubbing the orb increases the available use (in BOOST) of the noted boost, but not does automatically activate it.
EDIT: The price has been dropped on these EXP boosts! Please ASSIST if you purchased any, and we will refund your raikhen.

It's exactly the same as the Double Experience Boost that is listed under BOOST. Rubbing the orb will grant 1 additional use of BOOST EXPERIENCE, which is reflected in BOOST INFO.
The 15 minutes for all types of boosts are in-game time, so if you log off with 10 minutes remaining, you'll have 10 minutes left when you log back in.
The experience boost timers (for both types) run whether you have field experience or not to absorb - so plan ahead use them when you know you'll have experience to learn.
The Fast Experience Absorption Boost is applied after it calculates the normal amount of base experience you would gain per pulse (which includes checking relevant stats, amount of current field experience, group status, etc). It's then increased by 50%, and finally normal RPA modifiers are applied after that. There is no cap to the bonus.

Hey, listen! I'm releasing cloaks. You wear them and they hold things.
They give you slightly different messaging based on if you're mounted or not.
Stuff like:
toss cloak You gather the hem of your ivory cloak into one hand and you fling it to the other side of your black horse.
Full unlock:
pull cloak You carefully fasten the front of your ivory cloak and pull the hood up over your head.
look Retser You see a hooded figure swathed in a long ivory cloak trimmed with velvet on top of a tall black horse.
There will be a limited supply of the LOOK capturing unlock and they will be costly.

Subject: Fox Hunting
The fox hunting activity is slightly different than the usual search, search, search methods, so I figured I'd give some tidbits on how things work there.
When you come to a room with a trapper outside of a cabin, this is the room where you can enter the hunt. The trapper in this room has details in ENTRY and OBJECTIVE in the question set. There are some other questions you can ask to. The trapper inside the cabin also gives some different wording that can be helpful.
Once you GO TREELINE, you have 90 seconds to rush around and try to find the fox. If you're trained in perception, use OBSERVE. If you're trained in survival, use TRACK. If you don't have training in either, it becomes more RNG, but you still have a chance. It's just less RNG with training. If you're wondering how much, it's either 1x or 2x trained, not X ranks.
You can TRACK and OBSERVE multiple times per room if you want, what you're looking for is to find signs of a fox in the area, or no sign at all. If you're seeing paw prints, that's the generic messaging, and that means there are small animals there(mice, voles, shrews, or muskrats), which are the lowest rewards.
Sometimes you'll be able to see the fox trotting around. You don't see when it enters your room, but you do see when it moves away. If you stop seeing it moving, there is a high chance it's in your room.
The average for the fox hunt is slightly lower than jousting, but it's also much faster.
Hopefully this helps clear up some questions. Feel free to ask more.

I updated the messaging on the fox hunt, when you see the fox trotting around, so it's not such a wild goose chase. The fox can no longer run clear across the woods in one action. If you see it trotting around on the east side, it will stay on the east side. If you see it trotting up the mountain path, it will stay up the mountain path. And if you see it trotting around the west side (the biggest side), it will stay over there. You aren't guaranteed to see it trotting around, and there is no training needed to see that messaging. The only thing training will improve is with TRACK and OBSERVE. Nothing with that has changed.

Saddles

Subject: Saddles
Hey guys,
Some info on the saddles, for those who have been asking and/or are curious about them.
Per ANALYZE, the saddles are saddles for... horse mounts ;) OTS they come with the following Verb Set 1: DROP/PUT, GET, MOUNT (with styles), and DISMOUNT (with styles). The available mount/dismount options per saddle style are listed in ANALYZE.
There are certificates to add Verb Set 2 (ATTEND, NUDGE, PULL, RUB, LEAN) and Verb Set 3 (TILT, RAISE, TOUCH, CLENCH, PUSH) to the saddles. You can get one or the other or both (or none at all), since they're set up to be independent of one another. The verbs for both of these sets have variations on the messaging based on whether the saddle is in your hands, on your horse while you're NOT mounted, and on your horse while you ARE mounted.
Verb syntax is a little more work than usual when the saddle is on the horse since it's on a creature rather than directly on your person. If you're not mounted but your saddle's on the horse, you'll usually have to do something like NUDGE SADDLE ON HORSE (or if there are multiple horses in the room, use the horses's adjective as well -- NUDGE SADDLE ON ROAN HORSE, etc.). If you're mounted on your saddle, NUDGE SADDLE ON MY HORSE.
Mount syntax: MOUNT {STYLE} {target horse}. As long as the saddle's on the horse, that's all you do. So for example, MOUNT MANE HORSE.
Dismount syntax: DISMOUNT {STYLE}. As long as the saddle's on the horse (and you're on the horse, too), that's all you do. So for example, DISMOUNT MANE. ANALYZing the saddle should show that syntax properly now (it did not before). The issue folks were having with DISMOUNT styles was an underlying verb issue that is currently fixed up -- but please absolutely bug your saddle if you find styles not working again.
Saddle styles
There are currently 3 saddle styles being sold: Finnian, Kannalan, Minstrel's. LOOK and ANALYZE both state the saddle style and some of its defining characteristics.
Finnian: Lightest of the 3 saddle styles. The pommel is low-rise (doesn't really jut up vertically), and the cantle is what you'd expect from a "normal" saddle. The stirrups are loose (no flaps). It utilizes a billet and buckle girth type system for saddling. It will usually include a pad or not use anything underneath at all. Closest RL equivalent would be an English riding saddle (leaning toward a jumping saddle).
Kannalan: Heaviest of the 3 saddle styles. It has a horn. Its stirrups have stirrup flaps. It utilizes a cinch/latigo/D-ring type of system for saddling. It will most commonly utilize a blanket or pad + blanket combination. Closest RL equivalent would be a Western saddle.
Minstrel's: Mid-weight of the 3 saddle styles. The pommel sits just upright (pretty much vertically) from the trunk, as does the cantle. The stirrups are loose (no flaps). It utilizes a billet and buckle girth type system for saddling. It will most commonly not utilize anything underneath it, but if it does, a pad is the most likely choice. Closest RL equivalent would be a 14th c. jousting saddle.
The differences between the 3 saddles right now are largely aesthetic -- the only big difference in verbs on them currently is how you saddle/unsaddle the horse, slight differences in some of the mount/dismount messaging and options (like, you can only use the horn style of mounting/dismounting on the Kannalan saddles), and the PULL verb lets you run the stirrups all of the way up their leathers on Finnian/Minstrel's saddles but not on Kannalan.
Hopefully obviously, given their names, there are different origins for the saddle styles -- however, I want(ed) more time to flesh those details out before putting them into a more formal format/write-up. But yes, it's safe to assume that the Finnian style originates from somewhere in Finnia and the Kannalan style finds its roots in the Kannalan Empire. And yes, it's safe to assume that the saddles for sale at the event reflect some of the distinct aesthetics (in terms of colors, embellishments, materials, etc.) associated with each styles.
Pads and blankets. These show up in some messaging if your saddle is set to utilize them. There's information in the ANALYZE about alteration guidelines for them.
Side saddles. Some folks have mentioned being interested in these. Funnily, I started writing this as a mount style, but I figured out pretty quickly that quite a bit of the messaging (rather than just the mount/dismount) would need to be different given that some of the things you can do on a 'regular' saddle in the verbs just doesn't make sense for a true side saddle's build. And I just didn't have the time and creative prowess to tackle a full-on fourth style when doing the initial script build. But while I can't promise that it'll become a reality, the side saddles are definitely on my wishlist of feature creepin'.
Popping a few of the expansion verbs below (it's a lot of messaging, so just a few for now!):

For people who would like more info on the KnightWear family of scripts!:
KnightWear/Knight Wear, which are sold in The Knight Way shop, is essentially a set of interactive items, along the lines of Ghule and AdventureWear but themed for knights/"the joust". Per the ANALYZE: "KnightWear items have messaging that sometimes incorporate other worn Knightwear items and specific types of footwear into the messaging. Some messaging also differs when mounted on a Rumor Woods-style horse." Also: "Note: you can only wear 1 per "type" of KnightWear at a time (i.e. you can wear 1 KnightWear belt and 1 Knightwear surcoat at the same time, but you cannot wear 2 Knightwear belts at the same time)."
Tiers
- OTS (Tier 1): WEAR, REMOVE, RUB, and TAP
- Tier 2 adds: NUDGE, TURN, PUSH, and ATTEND.
Item types (for the below, there is some other alteration info that's readily available in ANALYZE per item type):
- helm/helmet (cannot have anything indicating it doesn't have a visor)
- spurs (must stay 'spurs')
- surcoat
- belt (must stay 'belt')
- gauntlets (must stay 'gauntlets')
- armor
Flavors
There are 3 'flavors'/sets of characteristics of KnightWear: Lance (traditional knight), Gaston (self-important/arrogant knight), Monty (clumsy knight). You can ANALYZE your item to see which flavor it is (or if purchasing fresh, the rooms in The Knight Way are named for which flavor is sold in them). Messaging for the flavors is similar at its base, sometimes with only slight differences, sometimes with some more pronounced differences, for all of the verbs EXCEPT RUB (which is the same for all flavors). The messaging that will be used is dependent on the item you're directly acting on -- it uses that item's flavor and tier, even if other Knightwear items of other flavors/tiers are mentioned in it. i.e. you can mix and match flavors and tiers to get the combo that works best for you.
Modifications and Script-Adding:
- There is "a tall beak-nosed seamstress" in The Knight Way shop that offers a few alternate surcoat designs. This only alters the design/pattern on the surcoat. ASK her about DESIGN or ORDER for more info.
- There is "a youthful black-haired blacksmith" in the Rumor Woods forge that offers a few options for embellishing your spurs. This only alters the ornamentation/rowels on the spurs. ASK him about DESIGN or ORDER for more info.
- There is "a paunchy balding apprentice" in the Rumor Woods forge that will add Tier 1 KnightWear helm actions to currently unscripted helms (if the helms are properly built). ASK him about ORDER for more info.
- There is "a petite copper-haired blacksmith" in the Rumor Woods forge that will add Tier 1 Knightwear armor actions to currently unscripted armor (if the armor is properly built). She can also add Tier 1 Knightwear gauntlets actions to currently unscripted UAC gloves that have the noun 'gauntlets'. ASK her about ORDER for more info.
There are a lot of messaging combinations. A LOT. I've picked out a few different random combos to paste below so that you get a feel for the flavors and how interaction works:

Then, exuding exasperation and a put-upon attitude as she dons her blued jazerant hauberk, Kaikala nevertheless efficiently secures it into position and thoroughly inspects it. Kaikala then expertly reassambles and wears her set-aside gear.
TAP
- You repeatedly stomp down hard with your leather boots and boldly beat one of your gauntlets against the rings of your blued jazerant hauberk, making a muted, metallic clinking sound as you gesture for others to applaud and cheer you on.

PUSH
- Forcing your attention to stay focused, you give yourself a once-over -- you note to yourself that you're looking rather fine --, make slight adjustments to your spurs, mithglin barrel helm, and blued jazerant hauberk, smooth out your surcoat, then start pulling in quick breaths of air, hoping to psych yourself up.

ATTEND (couple variations on what you accidentally poke/smack. Just one here:)
- You make adjustments to your grey ora field plate on one shoulder, but as you reach across to the opposite shoulder, you accidentally poke yourself in the eye! Ouch, that hurt! You shake off the pain, then more carefully finish your armor manipulations.

A very, very few items/verbs have some messaging that outputs differently while mounted on a horse. For example, if you TAP your KnightWear spurs while mounted on a horse, you'll get this:

- You snap the black-tipped rowels of your bright gold spurs against your chestnut horse's shanks, spurring him to suddenly rear up on his hind legs as you lean forward and calmly loosen but keep hold of your horse's reins.

>>How does the armor script behave if there is no helmet worn? I assume all helmets must be functional (i.e, armor accessories), which my bard cannot wear.
If you're not wearing a helmet, then the KnightWear armor won't mention a helmet in its messaging output (and will be worded to make sense without that mention). Helmets for KnightWear are pieces of armor, so definitely they'll be functional items! (If I missed the mark in terms of what you were asking, just clarify the question a bit more?)
>>Does a script referencing on missing KnightWear piece not use the verb at all, or is it omitted from the output?
It's just omitted from the output. So like if you didn't have KnightWear spurs on in that messaging example, you'd get something along the lines of (and I'm not copying straight from the script, but the output should be on par with what I'm typing here): "Forcing your attention to stay focused, you give yourself a once-over, make slight adjustments to your mithglin barrel helm and the straps and buckles on your full leather, smooth out your surcoat, then pull in a meditative, calming breath."
There's one exception to that that I should mention. One or two of the messages will include non-Knightwear footwear mention if they have one of a few specific nouns and are footworn (i.e. instead of stomping with your "feet" in one of the messages for armor, you'll stomp with your "boots" if you're wearing boots of certain underlying builds). That's just a random tidbit.
>>Another thing , just question about possible further/future KnightWear options,, the ability to "KnightWearify" a surcoat not purchased there?
Will look at it as a consideration for the next run -- but I also can't promise it'll be something we do.
Hopefully I did not miss any questions!

As promised, here is the horse hair jewelery.
Tier 1 Pendant
Wear
1st Person - Reaching behind your neck, you close your eyes and gingerly manipulate the hasp so that it fits into the ring at the end of the chain that your pendant is on.
2nd Person - Reaching behind her neck, Thandiwe closes her eyes for a moment and clasps the chain of her horse hair pendant in place.
Remove
1st Person - Reaching behind your neck, you pinch the hasp on the chain that your pendant is strung from and allow it to fall into your opposite, waiting hand.
2nd Person - Reaching behind her neck, Thandiwe fiddles with the chain her pendant is strung from and allows it to fall into her opposite, waiting hand.
Cover - Hides It
1st Person - Lifting the pendant slightly, you tuck it away in your full leather.
2nd Person - Lifting the pendant slightly, Thandiwe tucks it away in her full leather.
Cover - While Hidden
1st Person - You touch a double coin knot pendant fashioned from onyx horse hair through your full leather, reassuring yourself that it's still safely tucked away.
2nd Person - Thandiwe touches her full leather briefly.
Pull
1st Person - You pull your horse hair pendant back and forth across its chain, silently listening to the small sound it makes as it glides along.
2nd Person - Gazing into the distance, Thandiwe absently pulls her horse hair pendant back and forth along its chain.
Pull - While Hidden
1st Person - Reaching into the neck of your full leather, you pull your horse hair pendant from its hiding place.
2nd Person - Reaching into the neck of her full leather, Thandiwe pulls her horse hair pendant from its hiding place.
Tier 2
Cuddle - While Hidden
1st Person - As your heart races, you reach for the reassurance of your horse hair pendant and find it just beneath your full leather.
2nd Person - Thandiwe touches her fingers to her sternum for a brief moment.
Cuddle
1st Person - Your heart beats a rapid staccato in your chest, and you reach for your horse hair pendant in an attempt to distract yourself from the emotions that threaten to consume you. Your thumb glides over the smooth surface, and the wild feeling within you slowly begins to calm from the methodical gesture.
2nd Person - Thandiwe suddenly clutches a double coin knot pendant fashioned from onyx horse hair that hangs from her neck and begins to tracks small circles on its surface with her thumb. The simple gesture seems to calm some threatening storm within her.
Fidget - While Hidden
1st Person - You trail your finger across your collarbone as you pensively gaze into the distance.
2nd Person - Thandiwe trails her fingers across her collarbone as she pensively gazes into the distance.
Fidget
1st Person - Clutching the horse hair pendant between your index finger and thumb, you pensively try to corral your thoughts, but find them racing like a horse running through the lists at a joust. With agitation, you tap the center of your horse hair pendant with your pointer finger.
2nd Person - Clearly agitated, Thandiwe clutches her horse hair pendant between her index finger and thumb with a pensive expression and taps on the surface with her pointer finger.
Touch - While Hidden
1st Person - A deep sadness fills you, the suddenness of it overwhelming enough to cause you to close your eyes. Your fingers instinctively reach for your horse hair pendant, and you pull it out of your full leather. You murmur a soft, almost soundless prayer against its braided coils, and, as you tuck it away, you feel a measure of comfort in the gesture.
2nd Person - Thandiwe suddenly closes her eyes, her fingers reaching to her the pendant tucked inside her full leather. She brushes her lips against the braided coils, a look of serenity settling upon her features, before tucking it away.
Touch
1st Person - Toying with the pendant at your neck, you slowly turn it between your index finger and thumb as your mind wanders to happier times while riding a horse. You can almost feel the strength of the powerful beast beneath you and feel the wind on your skin. Unconsciously, you sigh and the sound of it brings you back to the present.
2nd Person - Toying with the pendant at her neck, Thandiwe idly turns the piece as she gazes into the distance. A soft sigh falls from her lips, causing her to release the piece and offer a small smile to no one in particular.
Tier 1 Bracelet
Wear
1st Person - Sliding the bracelet over the back of your wrist, you carefully catch the ring in the hasp and secure it in place.
2nd Person - Sliding the bracelet over the back of her wrist, Thandiwe carefully catches the ring in the hasp and secures it in place.
Remove
1st Person - You carefully pinch the hasp on your bracelet, which immediately releases the hasp and unbinds it from your wrist.
2nd Person - Sliding the bracelet over the back of her wrist, Thandiwe carefully catches the ring in the hasp and secures it in place.
Pull
1st Person - Spying a slightly frayed hair on your horse hair bracelet, you quickly pluck it and allow it to drift to the floor.
2nd Person - Glancing at her horse hair bracelet, Thandiwe suddenly plucks a stray hair from its edge and allows it to drift to the floor.
Cover
1st Person - You cover your bracelet with your hand, your eyes slipping closed as you imagine yourself riding a horse. You feel that euphoric moment slowly slip away as you let your hand slip from the hairs.
2nd Person - Thandiwe covers her bracelet with her hand, her eyes slipping closed for several moments and a euphoric expression settling on her face.
Tier 2
Cuddle
1st Person - Gingerly twisting the bracelet at your wrist, you try to settle the racing of your heart and the thrill of excitement that courses through you. You rub your thumb in small circles along the length of jewelry, remembering the time you soothed a horse by tracing slow, firm circles against its flank.
2nd Person - Gingerly twisting the bracelet on her wrist, Thandiwe seems to be lost in a meditative exercise. A calmness eventually settles over her.
Fidget
1st Person - You toy with the bracelet at your wrist, your fingers gliding over the woven hairs and your thoughts racing like a horse moving through the lists at a joust.
2nd Person - Thandiwe toys with the bracelet at her wrist, her fingers gliding over the woven hairs with increased agitation.
Touch
1st Person - Glancing at your horse hair bracelet, you find yourself filled with a deep longing to be on a horse and riding through the wind. Though the feeling fills you with sadness, you find comfort from the simple act of tracing the twists and turns of your horse hair bracelet.
2nd Person - Glancing at her horse hair bracelet, sadness seems to settle over Thandiwe. A distant look fills her jade green eyes as she toys with the delicate horse hairs.
Sometime tomorrow I'll post the containers...
