[Mist Harbor Cemetery, Obelisk]
This quiet corner of the small cemetery looks freshly-cleared, and backs up directly against a sheer cliff face. A small obelisk is placed in the center of the space, fashioned from wide bands of onyx and ivory, and engraved with a simple inscription. Directly in front of the obelisk is an onyx pedestal, and a small podium. You also see a freshly-laid pathway leading back towards the cemetery's entrance.

On the onyx pedestal you see a wrapped body.

Fresh cloth surrounds the entirety of this form, save for the face, which is rather plain-looking, save for a huge scar running the length of its right cheek and down across the front of its neck. The form is bald, and its eyes are closed in peaceful repose.

Crafted from onyx and ivory, this obelisk looks newly-crafted. Each of the corners is sharp, and the swathes of alternating material are perfectly seamless.
There appears to be something written on it.

Background and History

The last remaining member of the Leiffen family, Socius claims ownership of Four Winds Isle as a portion of his inheritance, which has been rumored to be substantial. For a time, he served as the Headsman of Mist Harbor, though he eschewed the formal title. Briefly in the spring of 5119, Socius was "switched" with another version of himself from an alternate reality by the Meek, Nazhor. In addition to confusion about his circumstance and surroundings, the location of his facial scar appeared on the left instead of the right. He has shown a series of remarkable abilities, though he has intimated on several occasions that he was only able to do so through the provenance of his father. When his father passed, so too did many of Socius' displays of magical power, though he remains very formidable in his own right. Using those powers, he has been able to prevent the healing and resurrection of those whom he chooses to harm.

He is known for taking his duties as protector of the people very seriously. He is also known for his anger issues and lack of control, having flown into more than one murderous rage when provoked, or when those whom he is sworn to defend are threatened. Historically he has been at odds with The Flock, working against them and their agents. In a violent display of aggression, he tore Nehor limb from limb but due to the public nature of the display as well as the fact that they were nominal allies against Nazhor at the time, he recused himself from his leadership position, leaving control to Headswoman Selbi.

Socius was believed to have died on Lormesta 24, 5120 under mysterious circumstances. His body was supposedly laid to rest in Mist Harbor Cemetery. (Go to Lich #23177 and then GO PATH).

During the 5120 mayoral race in Wehnimer's Landing, a pale green-eyed man, with a scar on his face and wielding daggers began assassinating mayoral candidates and taking their bodyparts. The same suspect later appeared during the All That Remains storyline, being called The Fist. On Ivastaen 5, 5120, some adventurers dug up the grave, only to find it empty, and another defaced his tombstone. They concluded The Fist was in fact Socius. He was found by adventurers and relocated to Mist Harbor, bereft of all memories since his supposed death. He had been sent on a mission to kill people to collect bodyparts for Vlashandra and Callid, the latter of which had been cohersed into creating beasts and vessels with the remains. Socius's memories are slow to return, but his thirst for vengeance remained intact: his first order of business upon his return to Mist Harbor was to execute the First Sergeant, who had extorted local residents to pay off gambling debts.

Some in Wehnimer's Landing still sought vengeance for the atrocious crimes committed against its people however, and justice befell Socius in Koaratos, 5120 through the Equilibrium storyline. On Koaratos 12, Socius was put on trial for the murders in Wehnimer's Landing and the trial was overseen by a magistrate from the frontier town. As a stipulation of his agreement to go to trial, Socius's punishment could not be death or extradition. Few spoke on the prosecution and many in the defense. Yet he was found guilty for his crimes despite a hard record of insanity, which the magistrate specifically noted. In punishment, the magistrate declared Socius exiled him from the Landing permanently, and bid him to pay recompense to the town at large for each person impacted as a result of his actions.

In Imaersta 5120, Ilsola Tuulikki convinced Socius to take a step back from the fighting and leave the protection of the town to the Defenders. He entrusted his eonake dagger to Greth Rottgut on the 24th. His fearsome weapon was put on display in Stumbling Pebble Bar II for safekeeping, much to Greth's consternation. According to the barkeep, Socius continues his mentorship with Zofiya in the meantime.
