Custom Floating Disk

Custom Floating Disks are a type of advanced spell customization which changes the appearance of the disk created via the Floating Disk (511) spell. Pre-written custom floating disks are available at various festivals, pay events, and at Bayview Villa on Mist Harbor. Fully custom floating disks are a delayed service when the player is writing their own. Custom floating disks are part of the Player Customization System and are managed via the CUSTOM verb.

Any character, wizard or not, can have a custom floating disk. Wizards must use INCANT to access their custom disk. Open casting or using gems will still grant elemental-based and gem-customized disks for wizards. Non-wizards must use imbeds or black crystals, as any source that requires using CAST will default to the non-customized version of the spell. Having the Floating Disk spell cast on you by someone else will also result in the customized disk being created.

Floating disks are capable of supporting both a long and a show description. They must always begin with "the" and include the Character's name immediately before the disk's noun. The last line of the disk is hard-coded and is added onto the end of the description. It will always reference the disk hovering in mid-air around a person.

Examples of custom floating disks the following from options available at Rumor Woods:

Disk:  the calligraphy-inked {Character} coffer affixed with quill-filled cylinders
Description:  The parchment-covered coffer has been crafted from elongated pieces of pale willow, its fine-grained surface covered in inked strokes of calligraphy and other annotations.  A series of wire-framed baskets flank the sides of the container, displaying corked inkpots and pristine quills poking out from cylinders of hardened leather.  Placed across the surface is a woven chain of blown glass beads and ivory, the bookmark nestled within the confines of a leather-bound volume.

Disk:  the patchworked {Character} sphere of mixed scrap metal
Description:  Irregular scraps of bronze, copper, and brass form an imperfect sphere, the pieces riveted and fused together in a patchwork pattern.  Further interrupting the orbicular shape, a pair of hinges and a bulky latch indicate the location of an otherwise hidden lid.

Disk:  the polished celaeun {Character} trunk intricately carved with woodland scenes
Description:  The rich red-brown tones of the celaeun wood has been polished to a high shine.  The trunk's side and lid are all covered with intricate carvings of woodland scenes.  One panel includes a grove of snow-laden trees surrounding a majestic elk, while another has several different Ardenai flowers in full bloom, and a third features an autumnal harvest. Surrounding each scene and connecting the trunk together are intertwined carvings of leaves, vines, and flowers.

Disk:  the four-toned {Character} coffret inset with geometric parquetry
Description:  Constructed in a clean-lined, boxy design, the coffret has a seamless lid latched by a strap of dark leather.  Complicated, angular geometric starbursts repeat through a latticed pattern of wood, stained in four different shades.  Varying from nearly white to almost black, the precisely cut wood pieces provide contrast in both color and shape.
