===Tier 2=== |
|||
| ⚫ | |||
| ⚫ | Tier 2 talismans can be crafted via [[alchemy]] in the form of '''a carved wooden talisman'''. When bound to an unaltered familiar, it will summon the ''same'' familiar to the Wizard's side, regardless if that familiar is not native to the region. This tier does not bind to unique/altered familiars. |
||
===Tier 3=== |
|||
| ⚫ | |||
Tier 3 talismans can also be purchased at festivals or pay events pre-bound to a unique familiar. These may be prebound to familiars that are unique to that event. '''Only''' falismans purchased at festivals or pay events are eligible to be permified at the [[PERM-ifier]], which prevents them from crumbling. |
|||
| ⚫ | |||
===Tier 4=== |
|||
| ⚫ | Tier 4 talismans come prebound to a pre-altered with a '''custom familiar'''. The talisman will attune to the first Wizard who uses it and is already permified. Fully custom familiar talismans are typically available via raffles and their associated familiars may also have unique ambient messaging. Due to the nature of these talismans, they cannot be altered. |

The Wizard Familiar Talisman is a fluff script that applies to accessory items. It aids the wizard in summoning a particular type of familiar. It can also provide a unique or custom familiar when made via alchemy or purchased at a festival or pay event.
Analyze
You analyze the scarab beetle talisman and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change."
The creator has also provided the following information:
This is a Wizard Familiar Talisman, used to summon a specific familiar.
Verbs: CAST, TOUCH, WAVE
This scarab beetle talisman is tier 3, high rank alchemical level, of merchant quality. It has 20 charges. It could be made unlimited by the PERM-ifier. It will summon "a glinting stygian scarab beetle" with male gender.
The talisman is bound to you.
The talisman itself can be altered with a long or a show description, but it must remain wood.
You get no sense of whether or not the talisman may be further lightened.
Usage Information
Tier 1
All tiers of talismans function the same.
Tier 1 talismans are for purchase in Wizard Guild shops. When bound to a familiar, it will summon similar types available in the region, such as a cat or a frog. It is in the form of a wooden talisman.

Tier 2
Tier 2 talismans can be crafted via alchemy in the form of a carved wooden talisman. When bound to an unaltered familiar, it will summon the same familiar to the Wizard's side, regardless if that familiar is not native to the region. This tier does not bind to unique/altered familiars.
Tier 3
Tier 3 talismans can be crafted via alchemy in the form of a subtly carved wooden talisman for generic usage or in specific styles using special recipes. When bound to an altered or unaltered familiar, it will summon the same familiar to the Wizard's side.
Tier 3 talismans can also be purchased at festivals or pay events pre-bound to a unique familiar. These may be prebound to familiars that are unique to that event. Only falismans purchased at festivals or pay events are eligible to be permified at the PERM-ifier, which prevents them from crumbling.
Tier 4
Tier 4 talismans come prebound to a pre-altered with a custom familiar. The talisman will attune to the first Wizard who uses it and is already permified. Fully custom familiar talismans are typically available via raffles and their associated familiars may also have unique ambient messaging. Due to the nature of these talismans, they cannot be altered.
Mechanics Information
First the wizard must attune themselves to the talisman by waving a "binding" runestone at the talisman. If the talisman has not already been bound to a familiar (i.e., it is "blank"), the talisman must then be attuned to a familiar by waving the talisman at the familiar.
Unless pre-attuned via alchemy or through a merchant, talismans can only be attuned to a familiar currently called by the wizard. Wizards cannot attune talismans to another wizard's familiar.
Once attuned to the wizard and to a familiar, the wizard finalizes the talisman by casting Call Familiar (920) at the talisman.
Once finalized, the wizard may summon their preferred familiar by preparing Call Familiar and CASTing the spell at the talisman.

Special Tier 3 Alchemy Talisman
Existing in the Alchemy system are special Tier 3 talismans. These are the same as the subtly carved talismans except that they are pre-bound to a familiar listed below.
The fat red parrot eyes you and shifts from leg to leg before answering slyly, "Oh, I do be thinking I heard m'Mistress Thris a'sayin' somethin' bout more recipes. She did be mutterin' somethin' on 'bout crimson dust, an' colored light. I wager only wizarding alchemists o'th'highest caliber should dare be tryin' experimentin', though!"
These familiar talismans are created unbound, and require the wizard to wave a Binding Runestone at the talisman, followed by a cast of 920 in order to attune the talismans. After that, they can be used like any bound talisman.
Options:
Daytime
- Diamond Lens: a birchwood cat talisman (a silver-eyed pure white cat)
