Moonflower Villa

Moonflower Villa is a private property located at the edge of the Neartofar Forest outside Ta'Vaalor.

This property was auctioned off during Duskruin in August 2022. It is owned by the Ilyan Syndicate and serves as a hub for agricultural commerce for the organization. It is a permanent property with no monthly rent, and includes a node and a wine press. Avawren serves as chatelaine for the property.

Location

Sheltered in a flower-strewn glade, a small manor house rests within the protective circle of a stockade fence topped with brightly glowing, orb-shaped lanterns caged in eahnor. Octagonal pavers, interspersed with round stones, form a decorative courtyard that provides access to the villa's open door, a nearby barn, and a sprawling, meadow-like corral ringed by a log fence. Trailing across overhangs, fence posts, and creeping on the ground, moonflower vines grow in profusion in hues kissed by moonlight.

Quaint and tidy, a thatched roof of bright yellow forms a peak over the two-story manor house. Planters hang in front of every window that decorates the riverstone facing, the vinca and striped clematis stored within them trailing in long curtains over the open ironwood door.

Just high enough to prevent unwanted escape from any contained animals, this short corral has a wide ledge at the top with a smoothly sanded block secured to its surface, where block letters have been chiseled into the wood to show ownership of the stall.

There are four hooks fastened to a raised board along the front panel. Some dusty soft leather reins hangs on the first hook. The second hook is empty. The third hook is empty. The fourth hook is empty.

Coiling around nearly every structure within the courtyard, vine vines grow in leafy profusion and are laden with delicate blooms.

Corral

[Moonflower Villa, Corral]
Surrounded by shaved birchwood logs fitted together to form a tall, protective fence, the corral encloses a small meadow of blended fescue and ryegrass. Big and little bluestem grow against supporting posts under the starlight-dappled shade of oak, elm, and modwirs. Mountain mint jockeys for dominance near the center of the space, its nearest competitor tall tufts of beebalm, while sweet grass sprouts around a copper-banded oak feeding bowl and a verdigris copper water basin.

Growing in wild tufts, the beebalm crops up in various places throughout the meadow.

Banded with polished copper, the large oak feeding bowl is worn smooth from years of use. Overlapping moonflowers are burned into the rolled lip, creating a decorative design that is enhanced by a wash of violet lacquer.

Dappled by a tracery of verdigris veining, the copper water basin is fashioned of serveral metal pieces and has large, blackened iron rivets binding it together. A pipe rises out of the ground, curving over the top to allow it to be easily refilled.

Main Room

Wide windows, framed by storm shutters, allow natural lighting to filter into the space, the silvery starlight glinting off of plum and corbeau blue rugs decorated in faenor and eahnor threads. Exposed rafters lend a rustic air that is tempered by the pristine stucco walls accented in a plethora of large tapestries hung from copper rods. Divided in two from the placement of an oversized thick-cushioned couch, the south is dominated by a speckled riverstone hearth resting beside a banded ironwood door leading out to the courtyard, leaving space in the north for an interlocking haon and oak table surrounded by wingback chairs.

You see a series of large tapestries. Anchored near the ceiling by heavy blackened iron brackets, the various tapestries are draped upon sturdy, solid copper rods and fall in unfettered lengths to the rug-covered slate floor. Looking at the tapestries, you see a chaotic ShadowGuard wall-covering and a resplendent forest tapestry.

Threaded squares surround the central scene of a large keep where a swarm of demons rush out of open windows, over crenelated parapets, and through warped gates towards a field of battle. Crimson and gold troops stand ready along the western edge, their helms crested with bright plumes and their armor glinting in the sunlight that spills from stormy clouds. The aforementioned squares depict individual battles in an abstract array.

Woven together in an elegant display of hunter green, icy blue, and dark umber threads, the tapestry depicts a nightscape highlighting the arboreal cathedral of the Neartofar Forest locked in the pristine beauty of winter. Silver threads limn the eastern sections of the trees, hinting that one of the moons is not far off, while copper threads outline leaves left over from autumn's last dance. Tiny iridescent strands lend the filtered snow an almost ethereal cast in the ambient light.

Long and wide enough for a giantman to sleep upon, the couch is soft and heavily cushioned. Plump pillows decorate the backing, which is a wide frame of haon that is lacquered to a glossy finish. Abstract patterns of metallic-hued thread decorate the surface, their patterns blending in and out of the gradient plum-to-corbeau blue hues.

You see a neatly laid-out pile of wood and tinder awaiting only the application of flame to come to life. Nearby is a small basket with sticks of wood ready to be used to light the fire or to keep it burning.

Oblong and large, the lacquered table has a pedestal base that is ornately carved into the form of a wyvern standing on its four legs and using its spread wings to support the tabletop. Decorative chevron patterns dominate the smooth surface, the effect created by the artistic wedding of haon and oak.

Durable beige gabardine fabric is partially covered with a soft green plaid flannel throw.

Kitchen

Starlight filters through shutter-flanked windows in the northern wall, the smooth panes whorled along the top where stained glass moonflowers come to life in vibrant green and plum hues. Highback chairs surround a white-legged lacquered birch table that rests beneath the light of an enormous globe-shaped lantern caged in eahnor. Filling the space between a western, corner-placed clockwork wine press and its eastern partner, a cast iron pot belly stove, a long countertop of marble and haon stores a variety of cooking supplies.

Surrounded by bright white storm shutters, the window's lower half is crafted of clean, clear panes of glass held together by birch slats. Above, pewter and stained-glass pieces form the decorative image of fully bloomed plum moonflowers amid a pageantry of vibrant green, heart-shaped leaves.

Crafted from cast iron, the natural black color is accented by polished silver hardware. A round firebox with grated door adds to the overal charm of the device. A circular drakar plate tops the stove, a banded circle of flowing runes running along its edge. The grate on the pot belly stove is closed.

Built of a mismatch of gears and cogs, several highly polished metal "foot-shaped" pounders have been affixed to a large camshaft over an aged oak barrel. A small crank juts out to one side.

Polished white birch forms the high backing, which is left unpainted and resplendent in its natural hues. The wood is warped and manipulated to create the classic image of a Vaalorian coat-of-arms, leaving open air where thick, strong metal would usually be. Gold leaf decorates the wyvern at its center, the hue echoed in the striped crimson and golden linen of the seat.

Bright white legs support the rectangular tabletop, which is fashioned of lacquered but undyed white birch. Motes of gold leaf foil follow the elegant whorls and hoops of the natural grain, adding a touch of artistry to the piece.

On the marble and haon countertop you see a wide steel-caged bowl, a squat rhimar-veined stoneware urn, a rhimar-banded thick glass carafe, a lidded white porcelain dish, a carved haon bowl, a squat clear glass canister labeled "Cocoa", a four-legged lava rock bowl labeled "Salt", an earthenware container labeled "Nutmeg" and a frosted red glass jar labeled "Cinnamon".

Loft

[Moonflower Villa, Loft]
Starlight spills through the panes of a large bay window, flooding the room in its silvery radiance and casting shadows upon a compact wood-burning stove. Lofted slightly, an elevated wooden bed rests its pillow-covered head against the western wall, which is dominated by large and small picture frames amid hurricane lanterns held aloft by wall-anchored black iron hooks. Resting kitty-corner near the stairs, an intricate aspen and birch wardrobe is partially obscured by a painted privacy screen of lacquered bamboo.

Elevated by spindled legs, the bed rests against the western wall, its headboard of quilted linen and rosette buttons nearly reaching the peak of the ceiling. Carved hawthorn runners keep the thick mattress in place, while a decorative footboard is painted with a branch of ebon-striped white aspen and autumn-hued leaves. Crisp cotton sheets provide a comfortable base beneath a colorful patchwork quilt.

Quilted together in the classic "Grandmother's Garden" pattern, octagons of autumn-hued cotton with a white border create decorative rosettes. Each section has tiny flowers somewhere in the fabric's pattern, while the nucleus is either saffron yellow, canary yellow, or goldenrod. Within the white border are embroidered birds, the delicate threads depicting wrens, nuthatches, goldfinch, chickadees, and warblers.

Large and left in its natural hues, the wardrobe is crafted of aspen and inlaid with white birch. The left and right frames are carved in a bas-relief style, forming two trees whose branches overlap at the top of the piece. Intricately carved white birch fauna decorates the doors, the small animals drinking at a lapis-inlaid pool, while ebonwood creates shadows in the limbs above, where small wrens watch the peaceful happenings.
