Pup Tents are portable items that players can set up in outdoor, outside of town rooms. There were originally two distinct tiers, but the base tent can now be purchased during Duskruin and upgraded a la carte at the shop BVShop:Good In-Tent-ions.
Tents will collapse after 20 minutes of the owner not being inside. Guests will be tossed out if the tent collapses. The owner has five minutes to fold up the tent before the janitor will clean it up. Items left on the ground in tents are subject to normal game mechanics and will not be returned if lost, but the tent may be recovered at the Adventurer's Guild. Tents that have collapsed are no longer retrievable by anyone except the janitor or the owner.
These rooms should not be considered private for vulgarity or OOC reasons.
Tier 1First tier tents hold 2 people only, including the owner. Tents are not critter proof; you may not STAND your tent while enemies are present, and if a creature enters while the tent is standing, the tent will collapse and knock you, your guest, and your stuff out. OTS tents purchased at Duskruin are similar except that they only hold 1 person.AnalyzeYou analyze your brown canvas tent and sense that the item is largely free from merchant alteration restrictions, but the creator has stated that "The item type should not change." The creator has also provided the following information: This is a standard tent and will be knocked down by hostile creatures. The owner may have one guest. This tent has been unlocked to accommodate an additional five guests. The standing version of the tent may be altered with a long description, but not a show. The description must include "canvas tent." The interior of the tent may be changed by rare merchants as a delayed service, of for Premium Points via Sadie Scroll. Exterior: a brown canvas tent Interior: [Vanah's Tent] Hanging from the tent poles above is an unlit dark silver lantern. A white polar bear skin rug spreads across the ground beside a coiled cream silk basket. The scent of fresh-baked cookies permeates the air. The room interior can be altered to reference a placed lantern, bedroll, storage container, trash can, or scent. If not referenced, additional sentences will be appended to display them. There is a 511 character limit total on the room descriptions. Any items not referenced will show in the room as "You also see...". The items will not be linked in the room description; you can ANALYZE inside the tent to see the items that are placed there to interact with. You can STAND the tent to pitch it, and FOLD it to take it down. You can also CLEAN, LEAN, or KNOCK on the tent. PLACE the following items in your tent to store or remove them from the room: * Perfume bottles, oil lamps and oils, or incense to impart a temporary fragrance to the tent. This will temporarily override the custom fragrance of fresh-baked cookies, which will be restored the next time the tent is erected. The scent is currently: fresh-baked cookies * One General Store lantern or torch, which can then be lit to light the room: a glass-paned dark silver lantern is currently placed in the tent. * One General Store bedroll; meditation mat; prayer rug; or folding chair: a white polar bear skin rug is currently placed in the tent. * One Pup Tent Storage Container: a coiled cream silk basket is currently placed in the tent. INVITE guests who are outside the tent inside. PROD the tent flap to allow open access to the tent.
Tier 2Large tents won via raffle or auction are exempt from creature rules and can be pitched with critters present, and will not collapse when critters are present. The capacity of these large tents is 4 people. OTS tents purchased at Duskruin can be upgraded to this tier, along with various other new enhancements. Auction quality tents from before Duskruin can also be upgraded the same way, but already have the most expensive upgrade applied (critter immunity and room for 4 people).AnalyzeThis tent is an auction-quality tent. It will withstand knockdown by creatures and can hold three guests. The standing version of the tent may be altered with a long description, but not a show. The description must include "canvas tent." The interior of the tent may be changed by rare merchants as a delayed service, of for Premium Points via Sadie Scroll. Exterior: an ivory canvas tent Interior: [Weather's Reprive] The interior walls reflect the soft rose glow of the hanging antique bronze and stained glass candle lanterns. The delicate scent of wild roses permeates the air. Thick, rose vine-patterned carpets cover the floor, and large, luxurious ivory silk pillows are scattered about for comfortable resting. A small, folding table holding paper, a quill, and an inkwell, is placed to one side, a soft rose cashmere throw and a pair of fluffy deep rose slippers tucked beneath it. The scent is currently: wild roses * One General Store lantern or torch, which can then be lit to light the room: None. * One General Store bedroll; meditation mat; prayer rug; or folding chair: None. * One Pup Tent Storage Container: None. INVITE guests who are outside the tent inside. PROD the tent flap to allow open access to the tent. This tent can be lightened by one pound until it reaches two pounds. Additional Information
Unlocks
StoragePup Tent Storage containers can be purchased and hold 5 items up to 10 pounds total. Unlocks are available for additional 5 items and 10 pounds, up to 100 items for 200 pounds. This is not weightless storage; the container is stored in the folded tent and will add to the character's encumbrance if the tent is in the character's inventory. One floor item and one lightsource can be stored in the tent and will automatically be placed out when the tent is erected. Alteration RulesGenerally, you can write a room description 511 characters or less, and a GM will work with you to make it work with the tent script. The interior room description of the pup tent changes dynamically based on the items PLACEd inside. Custom room descriptions can use placeholders for these PLACEd items that will change based on what is currently in the room.
The description is built in the following order. If at any point the option would push the description over 511 characters, it is not added, and any referenced item shows up as "You also see..." instead of built into the room description. First comes an optional lead in sentence. This can incorporate any or no placeholder except the [LANTERN]. It could be one sentence or multiple. Following the lead in are the [LANTERN] options. You have three:
If a lantern is PLACEd in the room, and no custom description is provided, the description will be:
If a trash can is in the room, has not been referenced earlier, and there's room to add the description, it will add:
If a floor item is PLACEd in the room, has not been referenced earlier, and there's room to add the description, it will add:
If a tent storaget container is PLACEd in the room, has not been referenced earlier, and there's room to add the description, it will add:
If none of the above apply, the description will start:
If there is still room in the 511 characters and no scent has been referenced earlier, it will add:
Original Tent Description: [In the Shade of the Date Palm] A canopy of ahmdir blue under a raised golden damask lines the interior of this modest, square tent. Punctuated by the scent of a subtle mixture of anise, clove, and vanilla, a series of squared cushions patterned with simple arabesques lay piled into a corner to form an adequate option for a comfortable rest. A small copper brazier, its softly glowing briquettes providing a modicum of light, is positioned in the center of the tent atop a large striped carpet of cinnamon-hued tones. You also see a tent flap. Obvious exits: none Under the new rules, this should be altered as:
