Hi there, CHIVERSFREE1. In an effort to ensure stylistic consistency across the wiki, the [[Gswiki:Style Guide/Creative works|Creative Works Style Guide]] was recently updated to better clarify and expand on the different types of creative works. Several of your recent updates include creative works that now fall under one of the newer categories. I know that you are involved in helping write several publications, which would now be classified as periodicals under the updated style guide. Previously there was not a standard for their inclusion in the creative-work template, but that has now changed, and some of your past contributions to the wiki helped fine tune the end result of the style guide. |

Hi there, CHIVERSFREE1. In an effort to ensure stylistic consistency across the wiki, the Creative Works Style Guide was recently updated to better clarify and expand on the different types of creative works.
I wanted to reach out to you about both the Peacock Gazette and Elanthian Vogue. The updated style guide recommends the following format for the article titles of individual issues:
Periodical series name/Individual periodical issue
Right now, both the Peacock Gazette and Elanthian Vogue have their individual issues' article titles slightly off from that format. I recognize that there are a LOT of back issues of Elanthian Vogue and already several of the Peacock Gazette. Unless you prefer to edit them yourself, I can offer to move each of the individual issues to be subarticles of the primary Elanthian Vogue and Peacock Gazette articles. Elanthian Vogue: Spring 5121 would become Elanthian Vogue/Spring 5121
, as one example. For the Peacock Gazette, as its landing page is "Peacock Gazette", the individual issues would be updated from The Peacock Gazette/Peacock Gazette: Issue 1 to Peacock Gazette/Peacock Gazette: Issue 1
; this would have the added benefit of being able to click on "Peacock Gazette" at the top of the individual issue and return to the publication's landing page.
In addition, it looks like GM Xeraphina has already added the creative-work template to most or all of the individual issues of Elanthian Vogue, properly noting that they are periodicals as well as their upload date. This ensures their proper inclusion on the list of creative works, among other back end things. I can go ahead and add that for the Peacock Gazette, however future editions should also include it. The Form:Creative work is a handy way of applying that template to a new article or adding it to an existing article.
If I do not hear back from you or if you do not make those edits within 7 days, another moderator or I will make those changes on your behalf. If you have any questions about the updated style guide or the different type of creative work options it encompasses, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone Discord forum's wiki thread. Thanks for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:21, 27 March 2024 (CDT)
Uploaded Images
Hi there! Thank you for your MANY contributions to the wiki, from short stories to player written lore to information supporting the many events you help run. I'm reaching out to you about the images you have used in them, some of which do not appear to have information included about the original source or that permission was granted to use them. Please bear with me, since I have a bit of a lengthy list to help make this as easy for you as possible.

Please see Help:Style#Copyrights for more information about the requirement to provide the source and artist name for all images uploaded to GSwiki. If you are the artist who created the artwork, you can simply note that instead. Additionally, if the image was created with AI artwork software, you will also need to note what program was used (Midjourney, Artflow, etc.). If you need an example of how to do this, the character page Arenglae (prime) does this very clearly for all of the portraits. The way you handled it on a number of pages, including for the artwork by Tisket on Elanthian Vogue: Eorgaen 5118, is perfectly fine.
It is possible I may have overlooked some as I was only looking at your uploaded files. Official Simutronics artwork does NOT need any of this information displayed. Thank you very much for the many images where you already did display this. And for your reference, I am in the process of getting clarification from the rest of the wiki team on if different types of images would only need limited information displayed with them, such as the Elanthian Vogue "EV" logo or the flyer-style invitation images for your events. Until I have confirmation on that, I have to rely on the current copyright requirements and style guide standards.
Thanks for understanding! I'll check back in soon to see if this information has been updated. Given the number of articles impacted, I understand if it may take a bit of time. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 11:08, 1 December 2022 (CST)
- Hello again! Thank you so much for going back to edit the image captions, and for letting me know which ones needed to be deleted. I have deleted the five images that you marked for deletion on the above comment. (For reference, they were "File:Teveriel and Uniana.jpg", "File:Young Rohese.jpg", "File:Poladra.jpg", "File:Blue Phoenix.jpg", and "File:Ancestors of Rohese Bayvel-Timsh'l.JPG", and I did verify that they were not used by any pages before deleting them.)
- In double checking, I found a few more things that I failed to clearly note where image captions do not have the full information needed:
- File:Rohese Bayvel 5122.jpeg - This is used in Search_for_the_Truth_(short_story)#Moonstruck and will need to be captioned with the source image credit.
- File:EV Gallery 2018 - Rohese.jpg - This image appears on two pages. The Elanthian Vogue article featuring it is just fine, since it is clearly from the larger image on the same page credited to Tisket. I have gone ahead and adjusted where it also appears on Rohese's page to include the same credit you used on the EV page. You do not need to edit the text further unless you feel it needs it.
- File:EV Exotic.jpg appears to be made via DollDivine and will need that added to the image caption on Elanthian Vogue: Imaerasta 5120.
- File:EV Regimental.jpg appears to be made via DollDivine and will need that added to the image caption on Elanthian Vogue: Eoantos 5119.
- File:EV Town and Country.jpg appears to be made via DollDivine and will need that added to the image caption on Elanthian Vogue: Eoantas 5118.
- File:TeverielUniana.png - I have updated Elanthian Vogue: Spring 5122 to include the artist name for this image as it was cited on two other pages (Teveriel (prime) and Uniana (prime)).
- File:Jaysehn and Akenna.jpg - This image needs the artist name or source website. Unfortunately just stating ownership of copyright is not enough. I was not able to find this image anywhere else on the wiki as this or as a duplicate to reference an artist name and so have not yet adjusted it.
- Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything else I can do to help with this. Thank you again for your understanding and all of your many contributions! HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:53, 16 December 2022 (CST)
- Hello once again! I was double checking and noticed that I missed that you did already add the DollDivine text to those three images. Thank you for that! I have rolled in a very minor update to their pages to allow the image caption to properly display. Those pages do not need to be further edited. At this point, only File:Rohese Bayvel 5122.jpeg (used in Search for the Truth (short story)#Moonstruck) and File:Jaysehn and Akenna.jpg (used in Elanthian Vogue: Spring 5122) need further information on their captions for the artists. Unfortunately simply stating ownership of the copyright to the image is not sufficient. If any images were created using AI software, you will need to note what software was used to create them. As an example, it can be as simple as, "Image created by the uploader using MidJourney" (or whatever software is appropriate). Thank you again for your understanding. I believe I have dealt with everything. Let me know if you discover any more anomalies.
- Thank you so very much for your help with all of these! I know it was quite a long list and appreciate you bearing with me to get through them all. Everything looks great on my end. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 08:26, 17 January 2023 (CST)
Images at Risk for Deletion
Hi there, CHIVERSFREE1. I flagged two images that you uploaded last month for missing some required information on them. GSwiki has a new policy for all images uploaded to it, which is a little bit different than the last time I reahed out to you about images and attribution information. Please see Gswiki:Policy#Copyrights for more information about that policy. Both of the flagged images are on the same article, Elanthian Vogue 5123, which has most but unfortunately not all of the information needed for AI-generated images. All of the other AI-generated images on the article did have all of the information needed in their captions, so I was able to copy it onto their respective image files. (Thank you for including that on them!) For any images that you did not create, including AI-generated images, you need to note if permission was granted by the creator to upload them. Unfortunately noting Traiva in the article credits is not sufficient since the image was uploaded with your account. The images that have been flagged as needing updated information are as follows:
- File:EV 5123 Traiva.png - The caption indicates that Traiva wrote the prompt generate the image. Did Traiva give permission to upload the image to the wiki? Permission given and now noted on the image.
- File:EV 5123 Akenna.jpg - The caption indicates that Akenna wrote the prompt to generate the image. Did Akenna give permission to upload the image to the wiki? Permission given and now noted on the image.
- File:EV Insignia WIKI.jpg - I have NOT flagged this image because I remember that I had reached out to you before about it and you had indicated that you created this image, however I cannot find a written note of that on the wiki. Can you please confirm that you created it? I can confirm that I created it using paint when I first started writing EV.
I can help with updating the image file and the various articles that use it, since there are quite a few now. Thank you!
If that information is not added within 7 days, the two flagged images will be deleted from the wiki. If you have any questions about this process or need more information about the updated policy for images, please reach out to the wiki team on the Gemstone [forum's wiki thread]. Thank you for understanding. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:53, 16 August 2023 (CDT)
Short Story Question
Hello, CHIVERSFREE1. The wiki team is currently working on some updates for the style guide as it relates to various types of creative works, including short stories and vignettes. This includes better defining what different creative works are so that they are better reflected with the creative-works template, article titles, etc., to help out both contributors and other players accessing the wiki. I know that you have been working on several lengthy articles, such as The Reckoning (short story), which might span several categories of creative works. I was hoping that you could share some insight on how you have approached writing articles like it.
You have "The Reckoning" labeled as a short story with the creative-works template. It appears to be a series of glimpses into off-screen/out-of-game roleplay focusing on your character as opposed to a short story written or shared by your character or set within Elanthia in general. Would you feel that is accurate - that it is more a lengthy series of off-screen vignettes as opposed to a formal short story? It also appears that there are sometimes contributions by other authors, such as chapters where Rohese and Mirkk are having a conversation or actively doing things together. Is "The Reckoning" retelling events that have taken place in game in a prose format (as opposed to a log format)? In some ways, it seems like it might almost be a player-run storyline focusing on Rohese's personal growth and evolution.
Thank you in advance for any insight you can offer. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 10:33, 3 October 2023 (CDT)
Good morning! You are correct in that most of Roh's journals are player-run storylines. These include (in chronological order):
- A Difficult Journey (short story)
- A Healing Process (short story)
- Eternal Knowledge (short story)
- Search for the Truth (short story)
- The Reckoning (short story) - ongoing
and a sidebar Catharsis (short story)
I am more than happy to have these reclassified!
- Thanks so much for the response and insight! I've relayed what you said to the wiki team. I suspect that they will need to be reclassified once the updated guidelines are released, however they do not need to be done so before then. Once the style guide is updated, I would be happy to help if you need assistance with updating your player-run storylines to those standards. HOST-GSKEBECHET (talk) 04:58, 7 October 2023 (CDT)
