Saesyra (c. Ivastaen 5091) is an Aelotoi ranger and roadwarden originally from Bre'Naere. When the portal to Elanthia opened in 5103 she fled Bre'Naere and settled in Cysaegir, where she remained until 5123 when she began to take contracts as a roadwarden in the West. Her work as a roadwarden keeps her from home as she regularly patrols the roadways from Icemule Trace to Wehnimer's Landing and south to Solhaven.

Early Life and Background

Saesyra was born around Ivaestan 5091 by the Elanthian calendar, on Bre'Naere. She had no specific knowledge of her own parents who died early in her life, and instead lived communally with her kin. Her education matched the standard for all Aelotoi, with her primary interests in the history of Bre'Naere's flora and fauna, and in poetry and art.

Saesyra might have been a naturalist in another era, but like all Aelotoi she was instead a slave to the kiramon and worked as a scout to serve their interests. She found purpose in delivering private communications and rare discoveries between the Aelotoi camps where her slight size and tenacity contributed to a reputation among her fellow Vaer'sah as a fearless flyer. She was also known as a reckless explorer, requiring several rescues by her kin from collapsed hive tunnels and similar situations.

During the portal event in 5103, Saesyra helped disseminate knowledge of the portal among the communities and ultimately traveled through the portal herself to settle with her kin in Cysaegir.

Be kind. Be brave. The text adventure game Improbable Island has a code of conduct that has heavily influenced my play. In my desire to be pithy, I've condensed what I feel are critical components for good play with me, and I very much hope for you as well.

Be kind.

To others:

  • Be mindful of your audience, as there is a human on the other side of the screen. Don't commit them to unfun things.
  • Be inclusive, respectful, and fun. Extend Good Faith to other players.
  • In complex situations, seek unambiguous consent. Then be classy, safe, healthy, and respectful.
  • Use OOC chat (whisper, Lnet, Discord) to coordinate these scenes to minimize misunderstandings.

To yourself:

  • You are not your character. Maintain separation between IC and OOC.
  • The game should be an enhancement to your own life and a replacement for nothing.
  • Be aware of your own fun. If you find you aren't having fun, reflect on why and try something else.

Be brave.

Ask:

  • For consent in complex scenes (romantic or belligerent). Make no assumptions based on past or current behavior.
  • For clarification if you aren't sure about something (a person, scene, intention, etc).
  • For what you'd like to have from a relationship or scene, especially if it's long-term.

Tell:

  • How you feel in a situation, especially when you're uncomfortable. I use the Support Flower consent system typical to tabletop play.
  • RED: No/Stop/Too much/Let's try something else; YELLOW: Careful/Keep it here/Pay attention/Proceed with caution; GREEN: Yes/More of this/Keep Going/Enthusiastic consent.
  • Your expectations in a relationship or scene. You may set hard boundaries to include or exclude content, or veils to obscure the details (let the thing happen off-screen, fade to black).

Having a good OOC relationship makes great RP partners. If we've ever had an encounter where you left with concerns or questions, I urge you to reach out to me OOC either via in-game means, Lnet, or Discord as a final option; and hope you will extend the same to me when I reach out to you. And finally, thank you for taking the time to read this!
