Why wouldn't armor hindrance apply like usual? If you wear brigandine and cast [[Haste (506)]] through the use of 1750, you still use the 500s circle hindrance. These conspiracy theories are really getting old. |

Subject: Fash'lo'nae's Gift (1750) Released!
For his own reasons, it has forever been Fash'lo'nae's wish to see knowledge disseminated among the lesser races of Elanthia. Yet this desire was undermined by mortals trying to guard the Grandfather's greatest arcane gift. The specifics of this spell were hidden away in the libraries of Ta'Illistim for centuries, but they have resurfaced. And to make up for lost time, Fash'lo'nae has spread the knowledge of this spell as well as the rest of the Arcane circle across Elanthia like a wildfire.
The spell, Fash'lo'nae's Gift, grants ultimate arcane knowledge to the caster. It allows the caster to prepare a spell he would not normally know. The spell must be commonly found on scrolls in the treasure system. The maximum spell level that can be prepared is 5 + (success margin/5). The caster can prepare the spell one time, but gains additional opportunities to prepare it for every 25 success margin beyond the minimum required to prepare the spell.
If the caster is able to activate Fash'lo'nae's Gift with extreme success, a 100 success margin beyond the minimum required to prepare the selected spell, the caster can prepare the spell as many times as he desires for 10 minutes. This duration is increased by one minute for every 10 more success margin.
For example, if the caster is able to achieve a 120 endroll (success margin = 20) when activating Fash'lo'nae's Gift, he can then prepare a spell of level 9 or lower once (5 + 20/5 = 9).
Another example, if the caster can achieve a 210 endroll (success margin = 110), he can prepare any spell level 25 or lower that is commonly available on scrolls, but the number of times he can cast the spell depends on the spell's level. Choosing a spell of level 7 means the caster can prepare it as many times within 10 minutes as he chooses (110 - 10 = 100). Choosing a spell of 17th level means he can prepare it three times (110 - 60 = 50, 1 + 50/25 = 3).

It doesn't grant enhancive knowledge exactly. It just allows you to cast the spells, thus, no extended imbedding capabilities.

The rarity refers to its drop rate, not to its level. It cannot be infused.

>>That the spell cannot be infused is...interesting. Any particular reason you made this so, Oscuro?
I didn't make it happen. It's just the nature of a 50th level spell. If you found a scroll with 650, could you infuse that? Last I checked, runes only exist to infuse up to level 20 (and theoretically one exists to infuse up to level 25).
>>I thought you mentioned sorcerers should "be looking forward to the 1700's circle." This looks to be more of use to those who can 2x Arcane Circles who aren't sorcerers; Wizards, Empaths, and Clerics.
While you may not like 1750, Sorcerers can still infuse 1701-1720 scrolls, so I think that's a pretty big benefit.

Since I don't have a scroll of this to test with, do the castings of spells obtained via 1750 work with Spell Modifiers such as Rapid Fire or Spirit Slayer? -GRANTA
It will work with Spirit Slayer (240), but not with Rapid Fire (515).
And how does it determine native CS and/or spell ranks for spells?
Normal methods, just as it is on normal scrolls?
So my CS with offensive spells gained from 1750 still sucks? And I can't spikethorn anything, because of no ranger ranks? Or iz it different??
Just like invoking said spell off a scroll. If you don't have the profession spell ranks to boost the spell, this isn't going to change it.
I think 1750 is meant to be a special, extremely rare scroll that can still be actually found in the treasure system.-Adam
Correct. It has the same rarity as level 19 spells that will generate on scrolls.

>>AFAIK Oscuro, no spell above level 19 is commonly available on scrolls anymore, hasn't been for years. So the up to level 25 thing seems... arbitrary.
It may seem arbitrary because the 20th and 25th level Arcane spells aren't released yet.
>>There are tons and tons of restrictions on common treasure scrolls. Is there another, looser set of restrictions you are referring to? Or have these restrictions been changed?
"Commonly available on scrolls" means anything generated automatically by the treasure system. I believe someone has been maintaining a list of these on Krakiipedia.
>>Now, of course, how about fixing sorcerer training costs, allowing us to triple in AS (and wizards in MIU for that matter)?
This was discussed when the formula was worked out for the spell (and other future Arcane spells). They were designed where 2x training was the absolute max. Making Sorcerers able to train 3x in AS would only make us rewrite the formulas, require extra training from players to get the same result and force the other 3 pure classes from never seeing the results they had before. So, no, that won't be happening.
>>Do you get lore bonuses as if it was a scroll, or as if it was being natively cast?
The former.
>i>>>If somebody finds a 1750 item and decides to test it, please consider typing SPELL ALL after casting or otherwise activating spell 1750 and before casting the selected spell.
>>I would live to see the resulting spell list, assuming it works that way.
It doesn't.

>>But I cannot see why anyone, outside of novelty, would want a 1750 scroll, when you can easily just get a scroll with the spell you want on it, for less silver, and get more use out of it.
Because with a good activation roll you can get "infinite" casts of a variety of spells for a duration rather than on a charge-by-charge basis without having to carry 20 lbs of scrolls. = - GM Oscuro - =

BTW, 1750 has the same percent chance to generate as a level 19 spell from other circles, so it's not more rare, it's as rare.

Yes. 1750 allows you to PREP and CAST spells you couldn't normally. It functions exactly the same as prepping and casting the spell would with your given skill set, so keep in mind it doesn't automatically grant spell nativity or give you free spell ranks or anything like that.

>>Don't assume it'll be easily to reach the infinite threshold, especially with higher level professional circle spells.
For clarification, the circle doesn't matter, only the spell level. And the formula for which spells you can cast with 1750 is given in the spell description, so there should be no mystery in what one is capable of preparing.

>>So say you don't get to the infinite threshold and only get 4 casts of a spell. Is there a time duration in which you must cast that spell or you lose your 4 banked casts? Or could I set up Haste and save them for emergencies?
Once you've cast 1750, you have 10 minutes of duration regardless of success (the spell ends prematurely if you've met your total number of allowed casts, though). If you miss the infinite threshold, there's no increase in duration. If you make the infinite threshold, you get an extra 1 minute per surplus 10 success margin.
>>Will there be some messaging that lets you know what you can do and for how long or do I have to figure that out on the fly?
Once you prepare an unknown spell, the messaging reflects whether you made the infinite threshold, have more than one (finite) cast or just one cast.
>>Could the following spells please be added to scrolls: Weapon Fire (915), Energy Maelstrom (710), Torment (718), Dark Catalyst (719), Camoflauge (608), Call Swarm (615), Spike Thorn (616), Divine Vengeance (1613), Empathic Link (1117), Stunning Shout (1008), Song of Unravelling (1013), Song of Depression (1015), Song of Rage (1016), and Immolation (519)?
I'll bring it up amongst the profession teams, but no promises.
>>Being able to find Mystic Focus and Spirit Guard on scrolls that will be infusable is a nice addition for sure. I do wonder how rare they will make them drop though.
Yes, it's a big reason why I'm so glad Estild was able to release this circle. :)
Scrolls generate thematically. Meaning, a scroll will be a "Cleric" scroll or a "Wizard" scroll w/ spells that just that profession could cast. We will now have "Arcane" scrolls. Spells get more rare as you go up in level, but higher level spells are more likely to drop from higher level creatures.
>>I'm already drooling on his tome for sure...any hints Oscuro # of uses per day?
One.
>>It would be nice if 1750 had amazing unique effects, like being able to cast certain non-treasure dropped spells.
This was discussed at length during its design and we settled on the existing design to avoid profession-infringement. The best bet to adding spells to the list 1750 will cast is to lobby for more spells to get added to the scrolls distributed by the treasure system as SARDINUS did above.
>>It almost makes you wish there was an Arcane Lore that you could get via enhancive items which gives you more perks via the Arcane Circle.
Just as Fash'lo'nae's Gift's success is based off the activation roll, I think you'll find that Arcane Symbols and/or Magic Item Use will be the main skill factors in Arcane spells. So, it's sorta your Arcane Lore.
>>This opens 1750 up to semis, squares, half- or single-trained capped pures, and non-capped pures. Spells above 10 work as described.
The activation formula was designed to only reward characters with minimally 100 ranks of AS/MIU. The Arcane Circle is primarily meant to be a boon to people who focus heavily on those two skills. Lower level spells in the circle will not have as high a requirement for success as 1750, however.
>>Allow the spell to be found on magical items (If not available in that form already).
It can be.

>>Just to clarify, for durations based on AS/MIU ranks, will this take BOTH into account? So if I had 202 ranks of each, that would count as 404 ranks for the duration?
It uses the method of activation. So if you INVOKE, it uses AS. If you use another activator, it uses MIU.
