Revision as of 17:39, 18 October 2022

Veola hair accessories are highly customizable hairworn accessories that were created by GM Reidyn and introduced at Ebon Gate 2012 in A Head Above. They come in five categories (hats, barrettes, headbands, generic headworn items, and generic hair-worn items) with the ability to alter each side (plain, with a gem, with a feather, with a flower, with an insect or sea creature, with a pointed item, or with miscellany) as well as three custom hairstyles, including the default. Unlocked versions also offer additional zests, while fully unlocked offer demeanor based NOD and SHAKE.

In 2019, Veolas were updated to accept flowers as adornment, effectively adding a fourth side. Thus far, Veolas are not sold "off the shelf" with a flower side. One must find a capable and willing merchant to unlock and add the flower side. As a side note, the Veola will only accept simple flowers without scripts or long descriptions.

A Veola's category is determined solely by the worn location and noun of the item, and a Veola can be moved into a new category by altering the noun. It is not easily possible to change between head-worn and hair-worn Veolas, although the service is available at Duskruin Arena.

In 2022, Veolas were updated to accept:

  • Bugs on Parade insects or Life Aquatic sea creatures
  • Pointed items - lockpick, shoot, stick, sprig, spray, stem, twig, fork, spoon, knife, dart, dagger, wand, talon
  • Miscellany which includes non-flower foraged items, skins and furs, and non-gemstone treasure items such as seashells.

Analyze

This Veola item is designed to display a gem, feather, flower, insects and sea creatures, pointed items, or other miscellaneous items. Miscellany includes other foraged items, skins, shells, and other larger non-gem treasure items. The veil has several distinct descriptions, depending on what item is inserted. To insert an item, hold the veil in one hand, the item you'd like to insert in the opposite hand, and PUSH veil. PULLing the veil will remove the item and restore the veil to its empty description. It has been fully unlocked and has the following verbs available: TWIST, TAP, ATTEND, NOD and SHAKE.

When worn, it will temporarily alter your hairstyle and supports up to three custom hairstyles in addition to the default setting. To change between the available hairstyles, hold the item in your hands and TURN it. Currently it has no custom hairstyles set.

When altering these items there is some important information to keep in mind. First, this item belongs to the GENERAL HEAD WORN group and may only be altered in one of the following nouns: Anything except Hat, Cap, Tricorn, Tricorne, and Capotain. And while each side is highly customizable, both the noun and material do need to remain the same for all sides.

The sides currently are:
Gem/Button: a short spidersilk veil glimmering with <adj>s
Feather: a short ecru spidersilk veil painted with <adj>s
Flower: a short ecru spidersilk veil painted with <adj>s
Insect/Aquatic: a short ecru spidersilk veil painted with <adj>s
Pointed: a short ecru spidersilk veil painted with <adj>s
Miscellany: a short ecru spidersilk veil painted with <adj>s

You get no sense of whether or not the ferroniere may be further lightened.
