Empyrean Onslaughts Type Permanent Prerequisites Shadow's Descent is required for event credit

Empyrean Onslaughts is a permanent quest, which is always available as long as its prerequisites are met. Use GEM ONSLAUGHT to check whether an onslaught is currently active, where it's happening, and how much time remains. Onslaughts are timed invasion events that rotate across four Ascension hunting zones: Hinterwilds, Moonsedge, The Hive, and Sailor's Grief. When an onslaught is active, invasion portals appear in the targeted zone and transport you to the Empyrean fleet. Each onslaught runs for four hours before the fleet withdraws.

Details

In order to be eligible for event credit for the various Empyrean Onslaughts timed quests, you must first complete Shadow's Descent, which is the introductory quest for Empyrean Onslaughts and requires prior completion of "A Sparkling Ascent." See that article for detailed information on the quest. Completing Shadow's Descent unlocks Gemstone Codices, the weekly/monthly repeatable quests, and the GEM ONSLAUGHT command.

Empyrean Airship Raids

Slaying Empyrean during an active Onslaught has a chance to open a swirling portal into one of the Syndicate's airships. Fighting your way upward through the ship takes you through multi-deck combat encounters connected by mechanical lifts, with progressively increasing difficulty at higher decks. Airship raids support groups of up to five adventurers.

Repeatable Quests

Four new repeatable quests offer ongoing Empyrean content, available in weekly and monthly variants. They involve hunting aboard Empyrean airships or defending the ground during an active Onslaught, and reward Gemstone Codices, experience, and fame. Check QUEST LIST for availability after completing Shadow's Descent.

Gemstone Geodes

Gemstone Geodes are a collectible drop containing two Gemstones inside. Use GEM FIXATE to shift focus to finding Gemstone geodes at the expense of other kinds of loot. When found you can then choose which of the two gemstones inside the geode to extract.

GEM Commands

• GEM FIXATE – Sacrifice a portion of your weekly silver generation potential in exchange for an increased chance of finding Gemstones and receiving them inside a Geode.
• GEM STATUS – Check whether you are currently eligible for Gemstone drops.
• GEM ONSLAUGHT – Sense the presence and location of any active Onslaught. Requires completion of Shadow's Descent.

Gemstone Codices

Gemstone Codices are one-time-use items that overwrite a property on one of your Gemstones with a new one, via the masked Gemstone Artificer.

System Updates

Gem and Dust Rate Increase

Ascension Gemstones and Dust will now drop at an increased rate from Empyrean foes. Completion of Shadow's Descent is required to be eligible for this increased rate. The rate is further increased on Empyrean Airships, and is increased further on higher elevation Airships.
