Warning: This page concerns archaic world setting information from the I.C.E. Age of GemStone III. It is not canon in contemporary GemStone IV, nor is it canonical for Shadow World as the details may be specific to GemStone III. It is only historical context for certain very old parts of the game and these things should not be mixed.

Dagothra (Iruaric: Dagoth the Powerful?) might have been the high priest of the Unlife cult that destroyed the city of Quellburn. Corrupting the sorcerer Zenon, their civilization was destroyed by his hordes, ultimately leading to anarchy until the founding of Kelfour's Landing two centuries later. While the cult was still exerting its influence, Zenon was robbed of his memory by an amnesia spell. Dagothra was said to have been slain by Lord Tannith Ravenhearth, famous ancestor of Lord Kerrington Ravenhearth, the founder of Hearthstone Manor. But it is possible it really refers instead to something unrecorded.

Behind the Scenes

"Dagoth" was the name attributed to the High Priest of Athimurl on a now defunct website. It was supposedly cited from some edition of "The Iron Wind" source book for Shadow World, but that might have only referred to the NPC statistics which do come from the books. The website claimed Dagoth meant "Snow Lion" in High Imla Arna, but that might not be canonical. This would be a fairly large coincidence. There is no other historical backdrop for Tannith in the region in a reasonable time interval, and Hearthstone Manor was made at some point in 1995. However, there was another high priest named "Darath" on Mur Fostisyr, who served an Ordainer associated with The Iron Wind. Some ICE Age terms were converted without being added to any known glossary. They are usually very similar to the originals.
