BID is a mechanical verb. It is used at auctions such as the Great Auction of 2016

Usage

Outside of an active auction
But there is nothing to bid on here.
During an live auction
Usage:
    BID {amount}
 Amount may be shortened to ###k (for thousands) or ###m (for millions).  Bid will also be recognized if you use a decimal point or commas.
    Examples of valid bids:
    BID 1000  - 1000 silvers
    BID 25k   - 25000 silvers
    BID 1m    - 1,000,000 silver
    BID 4.5k  - 4,500 silver
