Race Rules
- There will be a minimum of 6 roltons running in each race. [See details of the runners below]
- Each of the 6 roltons can be "sponsored" by one individual in a particular race for a nominal fee or "buy-in." [Fee to be determined]
- Private pedigree rolton entries will be accepted on the day for a small entry fee. [Yes, you can bring your own Racing toy (roltons only), entry fee to be determined]
- Up to 4 private pedigree roltons can be entered into each race to a maximum of 10 roltons overall.
- The race course will run from the Veythorne Manor dock at the north end of the grounds (where the Fishing Shop is located ~ lich #13402) to the entrance gate at the south (lich #13366). [A total of 9 rooms in either direction]
- Each race will last no more than 10 minutes.
- The first rolton to reach the gate (finish line) will be declared the winner.
- In the event of no rolton reaching the gate (finish line) before the race time elapses, the race will be declared over with no outright winner. Entry fees will not be refunded.
- Ownership of roltons must be established before the race. [Roltons must be attuned ~ HUG rolton x2]
- All roltons must be prepared before the race. [TURN rolton x10 to fully wind it]
- All roltons must be lined up at the start of the race. [PLACE/DROP rolton at the starting post]
- Races will be started on the commands of, "On your marks!" ... "Get ready!" ... "GO!"
- False starts will be disqualified. [Do not NUDGE your rolton until you are told "GO!" Make sure you know which rolton is yours e.g. NUDGE THIRD ROLTON or NUDGE BERYL ROLTON etc. You only need to NUDGE your rolton once, it sets it in motion for 10 movements. Please be aware that roltons could move in any direction.]
- Rolton "owners" and "sponsors" are permitted to encourage their roltons to continue racing should their movements cease within race time. [You will be able to pick your rolton up after 10 movements to rewind it ~ GET rolton and repeat with TURN rolton x10, PLACE/DROP and NUDGE to resume the race]
- Any attempts to assist your rolton (i.e. picking it up and carrying it) or interference with other roltons during the race will result in disqualification and/or ridicule.
- Retrieve your rolton once the race has finished [GET rolton. You will not be able to pick up your rolton until its 10 movements have completed, hopefully at the finish line!]
- All roltons must be returned to the Adjudicator where you will receive your prize for a race win. Unless, of course, you are the proud owner of the rolton, in which case just come and collect your prize and praise! [PINCH rolton x2 to unattune it and return it to Rohese or she will hunt you down!]
- The Adjudicator's decision in all matters is final. [No arguing with Rohese or she will cry.]
Betting Rules
- First and foremost, please be aware that this is just for fun! Please don't assume you are going to win big - or even win at all - as the roltons are very unpredictable and may not finish the race.
- Betting Odds will be clearly displayed before each race on the chalkboard outside the tent.
- Minimum stake is 10,000 silvers.
- Maximum stake is 1 million silvers.
- Bets can only be placed on the race about to commence.
- All bets are for first place only (no second or third place) and the rolton must have reached the finish line.
- All bets are forfeit in the event of no rolton finishing the race.
- Betting will close before each race begins. No bets can be placed while the race is underway.
- All wins must be claimed immediately after the race is over (within 10 minutes of the finish or before the next race begins, whichever is sooner) or will be forfeit.
Betting (explained in simple terms)
Betting Odds are used to determine the probability of a rolton winning a race. The fractional odds displayed will allow you to calculate how likely a given event is to happen based on previous form.
For example, betting odds of 9/1 gives a 10% chance that the rolton will win. 4/1 gives a 20% chance and 1/1 gives a 50% chance.
Betting Odds then allow you to calculate how much silver you will win if you make a bet. Using the same examples as before, quite simply, for every silver you bet, you will win the value of that bet plus the return of your stake.
- 9/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 9 silvers plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 10 silvers in total.
- 4/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 4 silvers plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 5 silvers in total.
- 1/1 for every 1 silver you bet, you will win 1 silver plus the return of your 1 silver stake. So 2 silvers in total.
All bets placed during a sweepstake are set as standard. In the event of more than one winner, the total amount of silvers staked on the race will be divided equally.
A Rolton Race Day Rehearsal will be held to determine the racing form of all six roltons and the subsequent odds for the opening race on the big day itself. The rehearsal will be an open event and everyone is welcome to come along and spectate.
