Wide open windows allow the sound of lapping waves, the hum of cicadas, and the cry of gulls to fill the air with the music of Marshtown. Creaking floorboards lend their own tune as as the structure subtly shifts and settles on its pilings. Heat wafts in from a curtain-draped doorway where the scent of tantalizing foods originates. A freckled young woman stands at a long waxpaper-topped counter taking orders.

Scrub marks decorate the driftwood walls of the dining area, a testament to the cleanliness that the proprietor has made a priority. Clean, waxed parchment papers act as tablecloths to the various mangrove plank counters that are generously spaced throughout the common area. Wooden benches rest upon either side of each table's long end, while rest at the head and foot. The nighttime sound of Marshtown insects, birds, and sailors drifts in through large, wide-open windows and flows out of the cozy booths.
