Granlestal

Granlestal Faendryl was a sorcerer who engaged in research that the Patriarch, Korvath Dardanus Faendryl, as well as other Basilican authorities found dangerous. He was assigned the Palestra Blade Aralyte Halanori Faendryl, who acted as his guardian for two hundred years, who monitored his work for violations of sorcerous laws. Aralyte and Granlestal eventually became lovers. However, Granlestal's obsessive work into the Shadows led him to raising Erythro Island, in the arctic seas near Glaoveln. The blood island of the Shadows was a bridge into this world for its powers, and was ultimately responsible for empowering Grishom Stone later. It was destroyed by adventurers of Wehnimer's Landing in 5112 Modern Era.
Aralyte fulfilled her obligation as a Palestra by slitting Granlestal's throat. Blaming the Shadows for corrupting him to his downfall, Aralyte pursued its destruction, researching ways to unravel it forever. Aralyte led an expedition of Palestra, who were unable to relocate Erythro Island. In 5114 Modern Era, Aralyte traveled to Wehnimer's Landing to pursue this quest on her own, having received a note from Grand Magister Pylasar. Aralyte was eventually lost in the Shadow Realm after the destruction of the Shadows. In 5125 Modern Era the Basilica formally announced an investigation into her whereabouts.
Appearances
Granlestal died years before his role in Cross into Shadows was known. He has only appeared in vignettes.
