Statement from the Basilica on the Ithzir Invasion of the Darkstone Bay Region and the Lost Palestra Aralyte

The following statement was issued from the Basilica of House Faendryl on Eorgaen 19, 5125 Modern Era:

The Imperial Decree and Ultimatum of House Faendryl

With the full force and imprimatur of the Legantine Chancellor under the imperial authority of the Basilican Magistracy --- whose power is but a mere expression of the imperium of the Patriarch, Korvath Dardanus Faendryl, sovereign of House Faendryl, infinite in his peerless supremacy and ruler of all worlds --- I issue this decree as High Legate of the northern marches of the Faendryl Empire, which is to be obeyed by the quaint provincials of those lands bereft of lordship, whose long suffering under the chaos of men is a travesty of history and defilement of civilization, and which shall be effected immediately by all pretenders and lesser governances:

The inexcusable and ongoing failure to control the hubristic artifice of Eonak's Reach, constructed of unlicensed means in a prior millennium, has now resulted in a third incursion into this world by the Ithzir in less than ten years. Twice in the very same place, bloodied from the very same fount. The Ithzir in question have not issued from the known Scattered Worlds, but instead a demonic valence of unproven identity. This is affirmed by no less an authority than Severnus Aviligne Faendryl, High Magus of the Basilica Tower, who was monitoring our veil wards at the time reports were received of wild and reckless abandon. These were made by witnesses from the sorcerer guilds, alarmed by shock waves in the fabric of reality. The epicenter is beyond doubt.

Upon its return since the last survey of our imperial holdings 50 years ago --- which the locals of Darkstone Bay failed to report, choosing instead to insult the law, naming it in honor of the criminal warlock Melgorehn --- this dwarven tourist trap, and dangerous source for recharging illegally possessed artifacts of tremendous power, has repeatedly threatened the security of our holdings and the world itself.

The immeasurable magnanimity of the Patriarch's infinite grace in this matter has reached its end. In spite of the charity of our proxies in the region returning its fortress and rescuing its soldiers from the Ithzir world of Kol Tar'sken, including the personal debt owed by its heir apparent, the Kingdom of Hendor has compulsively and inveterately failed to curtail the thaumaturgical machinations and derelictions of Tamzyrr. Hence we will exact our own intervention. The Basilica demands total deference in this matter. The so-called "Turamzzyrian Empire" is expected to disabuse itself of its pretensions of illegal annexation and protection in the dominion of Darkstone Bay while we conduct our interrogation. To the extent there is non-compliance, we will escalate, bringing forces in kind.

The Basilica thus orders the illegitimate governments and makeshift local authorities of the provinces to cease their unregulated molestations of the veil, interplanar vergences, and manipulations of mana storms which threaten the barriers between worlds. We remind the squatter kingdoms in our provinces that the Palestra hold original jurisdiction in valencial matters, inviolable from its origins in the Elven Empire, which both precedes and supersedes any other claim to lawful authority.

By order of the Basilican Magistrate, Helvetia Eryx Faendryl, first wife of Korvath Dardanus, Patriarch XXXIX of House Faendryl, the Basilican Sorcerer and Prefect of the Palestra are directed to send all necessary forces to investigate the Ithzir menace, the shadow realm or profaned lands so infested, and the final disposition of the lost Palestra Blade Aralyte Halanori Faendryl. That the Blade Aralyte is presumed to have held improper relations with her charge of two hundred years, the rogue sorcerer Granlestal, for whom the Patriarch himself issued a conditional delayed execution upon monitoring of his works for violations of sorcerous laws. Whilst presumed dead and irrecoverable, reports by our field agents imply Aralyte survives, and that the realm in question is more accessible than it has been historically.

The highly improbable survival of the Blade Aralyte in the chthonic realm of the primordial demon of Shadows owes itself to no natural cause or justification. Thus it is expected she has been twisted and possibly compromised by the highly mutagenic effects of the dark forces of that valence. The investigation presumes upon existing evidence that the Blade Aralyte fell into monomania, pursuing a personal quest of vengeance with unsanctioned methods, in disregard for safety protocols and oversight by Basilican authorities.

With the glorious aspiration of achieving the will of the Patriarch, in all its grandeur and providence, the Basilican Sorcerer --- Malevort Hexmor Faendryl, Arch Chancellor of the Clerisy --- has ordered the Extrachthonic Cartographer's Guild to dispatch Harrowers to assess the conditions of the veil, scout other valences as pertains to our investigation, and bring with them any needed equipment otherwise restricted beyond the pomerium of House Faendryl. The Prefect of the Palestra, Dracovir Faendryl, will further be delegating a Palestra venator with the extrajudicial authority of the Prefect, in the event the investigators determine it is possible to apprehend the Blade Aralyte. From which it will be ascertained whether she is to be impounded into a thaumaturgical asylum and rehabilitated, with absolution for vanquishing the primordial, or irredeemably corrupted and destroyed with extreme prejudice as a threat to the Faendryl Empire. The Basilica will issue any forces necessary to this end. The Basilican Magistrate further expects the wandering Palestra of Mahkra Academy in the outlands to prove their worth in this matter.

Honor and Glory to the Patriarch,

Vespasius Severus Koryth Faendryl
High Legate of the Faendryl Empire
Ambassador of House Faendryl
