The Erithian Incense is a fluff script that applies to miscellaneous items. It was originally released at Festival of the Fallen 2021. The following facets are able to be customized by a merchant: custom scents. Items with this script can be PUT on the ground for a limited duration, during which other players and the janitor cannot pick them up. It is scripted incense that can accommodate different types of scents and a wide variety of expanded messaging from standard incense. It can be toggled between general incense and funeral incense.

Analyze

You analyze the nakheva-twined incense and sense that the creator has provided the following information:

This incense is set for funeral usage and can be toggled using PUSH.

It can have up to seven custom scents that you can POKE to cycle through.  This can be altered with a base, long, and show (merchant dependent).  A merchant may also add additional charges to your incense with the possibility of unlimited charges under special circumstances or when the PERM-ifier is available.

The incense has special messaging for GAZE, PRAY, AND WAVE.  Messaging varies if lit or unlit, held or not held, and if it is funeral incense, the special messaging also varies if the activator is an erithi.

Stay-Put Mechanics:
This item has Stay-Put qualities.  If you PLACE it, it will be moved to the ground in your current room and stay there, unable to be picked up by others or taken by the janitor, for 4 hours.  You may NUDGE it at a valid container to place the incense on top of the container until you NUDGE it out of its place again.  After the duration expires, the item is fair game for others and for the janitor.  Alternately, the item may be PLACEd by the owner of a private property within the grounds of the property or by the owner of a stall or loft in and will stay there until PLACEd or NUDGEd again.

Private Properties:
The owner of a private property may PLACE or NUDGE their incense and then TURN it to make it a permanent fixture.  Once you do this, you cannot pick it up again.
Your nakheva-twined incense has a long time left.

Scent Setup:
These should be real scents (ocean breeze, zesty lemon, cinnamon) and NOT ideas (tears of my enemies).  You can combine a few scents, but it must work with phrases like "the scent of (insert scent here) or "(scent)-scented smoke."  Example: some smoke smelling of zesty lemon and rotting fish OR the zesty lemon and rotting fish-scented smoke.  Any more than 3 would get too unwieldy, and the person performing the service has final say.

Additional Information

PUSH toggles between general incense and funeral incense, which will update what sort of messaging the incense does. In addition, if an erithi is using the funeral version, they have slightly different actions (and another erithi will notice those subtle differences). These are based off lore found in the document When Your Soul Blossoms to the Sky: Erithi Funeral Customs and were created by GM Xynwen.

2025 Update

The erithi incense has been updated to use "stay-put" mechanics. Please analyze your incense to get it all updated! Now, you must use PLACE to set it down. It will be safe from others and the janitor for 4 hours (indefinitely if used in your private property -- NOT premium properties). If you wish to put it ON an object, NUDGE INCENSE AT {object} to us the stay-put functionality.

Private property ownrs can permanently place this by using PLACE (or NUDGE) and then TURNing the incense.

Ambients

Ambients occur when the incense is lit, and they will vary depending on whether or not the incense is held or on the ground. When held, there are a few ambients that may be slightly different when the holder of the incense is an erithi.
