Seoltang
Seoltang was the local trader's language of Kelfour's Landing in I.C.E. Age GemStone III. It was not a full language in its own right. Merchants would string together phrases in Seoltang, and use hand gestures to bridge gaps of meaning. Many of the archaic names used in the game were actually meaningful when translated out of Seoltang. It was the only language the Kral would use to communicate with outsiders, because their own language was too incomprehensible and idiosyncratic to be translated. They learned it from their slaves.
Examples of Seoltang
There are still a few surviving examples of the vocabulary around the modern Wehnimer's Landing region, most famously the grot t'kel potions and Sign of Wracking.
- "grot t'kel potion" -> "useful little potion"
- "wrack" -> "a very bad trade", "curse"
- "Walfeor Gal'Kel" -> "terrifyingly evil bitter killer"
- "Claedesbrim" -> "foggy edge of sea"
- "Quellburn" -> "freezing waters"
- "Blototh" -> "blown/windy mountain"
