Both the arena and are keepers for June.

Hopefully we will have some other surprises as well.

Arena format is 1v1, 2v2, or 3v3. A hardmode isn't in the cards at this time.

Sewers are pretty close to the same.

Moonshards have run dry!

Subject: Duskruin: Schedule and Pertinent Information

A more complete list of updates will be emailed and posted early next week, but here is some of the needed information.

  • The event will run from June 15th (9pm ET) until July 1st (11:59pm ET).
  • Dueling slips and rat tokens are being retired.
    • They will still be good at the arena and sewers. They will not work at the Bank Heist.
  • A new stamped voucher booklet will work for everything at the Duskruin event.
    • We are offering them in quantities of 1, 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250. Pricing is the same as the former items.
  • The HESS will open on Saturday, June 16th, at roughly 9pm ET. The staggered opening is needed due to a lot of new content we are putting out that may cause some hiccups.
    • HESS retired the following certificates: Undead Bane, Weight Reduction, Hidden Bracers, and Troll Hearts.
    • HESS has quite a number of new additions that we will announce early next week.
  • MoonShards and the pendants will no longer drop.
    • Bloodrunes will continue to drop, a new legendary bloodrune has also been added for this run.
  • The Old Farmhouse (NerveStaves), Khloake and Dagger, Skyfire, and A Flash of Strength have been retired.

Subject: Bank Heist: Coming Soon

The Bank Heist is finally coming! For those that haven't been in this topic since the beginning, it was part of the original conception of this event that never could get the detail it deserved. I didn't want to rush this just to push it out, so it sat in a design phase for a few years. It's definitely evolved quite a bit, and I think it will be enjoyed.

I'll have more details about it soon, but just some quick tidbits to hold everyone over.

  • You will choose if you want to aid in the heist, stop the heist, or stop those trying to prevent the heist.
  • The Bank Heist is a solo adventure.
  • There is a mix of puzzles (mild) and combat (like level and bosses).
  • Some tasks are skill based, but have optional ways to complete if you are without the proper skill.
  • There will be some unique rewards that tie-in the arena and sewers.
  • Bloodscrip is a reward, as is incidental loot and a new collectible.

Subject: The Bank Heist: A Primer

First off, huge thank you to Platinum for their diligent testing. They uncovered a lot of things that vastly improved the experience.

The Bank Heist is split into three factions, the Silent Investors (SI), the Poisoned Heretics (PH), and the Ophidian Cabal (OC). Each have their own tasks they are set to do in the bank. You have roughly 5 minutes to complete the your mission. There is combat and some minor puzzles in each that are similar, but different. Each have their own set of skill checks. The SI also has a stat check. These will make your time easier in the bank, but aren't required. Each group is trying to make it to the vault. To enter the bank, you'll need a stamped voucher (from the SimuCoin Store) and you'll want to GO with the various faction members in the hideouts.

The SI are a hired militia/vigilantes that are tasked to stop the bank heist from happening. They're targeting the OC, but they also have to deal with the PH. Their job is to find and track the threats inside the bank. Once they complete their mission (or maybe failed), they will be awarded with a prize pouch.

The PH are a band of assassins that are working to stop the SI. They aren't allied with the OC, and their motives are unknown. Their job is to watch and sneak around the bank and assassinate the SI marauders. Like above, they will be rewarded with a prize pouch.

The OC are bandits who just want one thing. The riches inside the vault. They observe their surroundings, looking for things to steal. Unlike the above, they aren't awarded a prize pouch, but whatever they steal they keep.

Each of the factions also give special awards that can make things easier for activities throughout Duskruin. They aren't too common, so keep an eye out for these trinkets.

There is a new collectible for the heist, which you'll want to talk with the OC's ringleader about to get started. The collectibles needed are found only inside the bank.

Improvements to the final quest reward can be found in the sewers.

Subject: Team Matches and Bank Heist Bonus Scrip

To clarify the bonus bloodscrip earned from the Bank Heist, it only applies to solo matches. If this is an issue please go ahead and drop me an email so we can get it worked out. At the time of this post, only 20 entries have gone through to the SI portion of the heist.

Subject: Heist QoL Updates

Given feedback in Prime, I've made some new changes that will be live in just a moment.

The timer in the Bank Heist is now paused during the boss battle. While it was intended for you to lose if you didn't complete the last step before being moved out, it was a bit confusing, but the reasoning was because the waves you faced were not the ONLY waves in the bank. It was like a game of cat and mouse. Regardless, that feature no longer exists.

Due to the timer being paused, the boss can summon unlimited backup (adds) to add some difficulty that isn't a tight timer.

There is now a chance that you will encounter no enemies in the bank. You'll need to perform a simple task to move on.

The Poisoned Heretics now have a more distinguished boss (when you play as a Silent Investor).

Odds to find rare and very rare artifacts have been upped quite a bit. The blood crystal is considered extremely rare. Overall, the odds are much better than moonshard pendants now.

Okay, Sunday fixes are in.

  • No more whistling arms and animals.
  • Only marauders, assassins, and bandits can summon.
  • The Poisoned Heretics are awarded a heist bonus properly now. Cap for the PH is 220.

You'll still see Poisoned Heretics Entries: 0** though, since you are automatically awarded it (+1 -1). This is available in the DUSKRUIN verb in case of instances where you're removed prematurely or you earn them another way (coming soon at a future Duskruin).

  • Dying in the heist with call familiar up and no deeds will stop being weird. (This is also fixed in the arena).

Subject: Bank Heist and Immersion

When we rolled out the Bank Heist, we wanted it to be a more immersive experience with discovery. The Bank Heist takes place in three secret hideouts for the three factions.

The Silent Investors can be found somewhere in the Hushed Park.

The Poisoned Heretics are rumored to be on Pewter Road. Some have been found hanging around The Dented Phylactery.

The Ophidian Cabal tend to hang out off Copper Road in a tavern named the Keg of the Bloody Asp.

Look in these places to find clues how to access the hideouts.

When joining each group, during the first "stage" of the heist, you will receive clues on how to understand the flow of the event. It's not too difficult, but the way to complete it isn't quite a cookie cutter guess-the-verb puzzle.

A clarification since I realized I incorrectly stated the maximum number of items a shimmer trinket can store. The glittering ticket will read as:

This glittering ticket will add 1 appearance set to an existing Shimmer Trinket. No matter the number of total appearance sets, a trinket can only store the appearance of a set number of items, determined by the number of items in your largest set times the number of sets, up to 100. i.e. you can have 5 sets with 20 items each, but if one set has 21 items, you can then only have 4 sets (since 5 x 21 = 105, which is greater than 100, so not possible).

It's not 100 items total. It's (# of items in largest set) x (number of sets), which can't be greater than 100.

Subject: New Duskruin Weapons: Sprite Weapons

Hey everyone, new to this Duskruin run will be a collection of sprite weapons. These weapons hold a sprite within them that can do a lot of stuff. These are similar to parasite weapons, but with a jovial sprite that feeds on mana instead of blood. Some things may change before they hit the shelves, but here is a sneak peak. I'm 95% sure they will be ready in time.

The staff itself has two appearances. Active and inactive. In addition, it summons a sprite companion that hangs out with you and is fantastically charming.

Appearance

You see GameMaster Retser.
He appears to be a bro.
He is holding a splintered wooden crook covered in burn marks in his right hand.

Retser pushes his hand down the surface of his wooden crook. A small white sprite materializes near the end of his crook. The distorted surface begins to mend as glyphs appear and fade across its surface. A final pulse of white light reveals a glowing wooden crook. The white sprite flits just over his shoulder.

The white sprite flying above Retser's shoulder whispers something to him.

Ambients

The sprite itself interacts with you in a variety of ways, it has a ton of messaging of which more unlocks as you unlock it further.
The white sprite flitting over your shoulder leans over and whispers, "Do you know how fast an unladen sprite is?"

Sprite Flares

The flares themselves can be turned on and off, cost mana, and come with a damage type of krush. A very rare service will be available to change this to any damage type. In addition, they grow stronger with higher affinity.
