Appearance

You see Gemlynn of Solhaven.
She appears to be a Malghava Halfling.
She is tiny. She appears to be immature. She has large hazel eyes and freckled skin. She has raggedly cut, greasy copper red hair that hangs in lank clumps about her face and is matted with dried autumn leaves. She has a plump face, a freckled nose and a missing tooth.
She has a grumpy billy goat tattoo on her ankle.

She is wearing a floppy straw hat, a tiny carved fel otter totem, a furry brown goat pin, a soiled tan leather backpack, some black lacquered scale mail shot through with steel wire, an archer's leather bracer, a shiny gold ring, a rust-colored kobold skin quiver, a cire leather herb kit scuffed at the corners, a muddied autumn leaf-encrusted pouch, a grey-stringed stained leather satchel, some tiny stained cornflower blue bib overalls smeared with muddy handprints, and a rust-colored kobold skin dagger sheath.

The quiver and dagger sheath are crafted creations by Darrgo (prime).

History

Born on a farm not too far from Solhaven, Gemlynn is the eldest of ten siblings. She lived with her mother, father, and grandfather. She helped them tend the gardens and animals on the farm, cooked and cleaned, and watched over her siblings. She was closest to her grandfather who taught her how to forage, harvest, hunt for food, and care for the animals. She loved being outdoors and was a friend to all creatures, great and small, despite her tiny physique.

One day, there was a mass invasion of kobolds and roltons into the farm. Everyone ran out into the farm to save it, to try and kill as many of the creatures as possible. With fuming rage, thorns suddenly shot out from Gemlynn's fingertips and killed several of the creatures. However, her actions were not fast enough to save her grandfather who died in the middle of the garden.

With great care, the family picked up her grandfather and had him stuffed and treated so that he could remain seated in their home forevermore. His hands were held upright to hold small items. As gruesome as the image can be, it was a great relief for most of them to have him there in their presence. However, Gemlynn was never the same after losing him. She became bitter, reserved, and unloving. She felt what her family did to her grandfather was horrible and unnecessary, as well as giving her a constant reminder of someone she could no longer hold or speak with. Her abilities to garden were weakened when her emotions would cause weeds to appear among the flora. She didn't understand the magic that she produced randomly. She would go on long walks into the woods to practice archery on small fauna, tore branches off trees to whittle them into arrows, and stayed distant from her family so as not to harm them. She was afraid of them and of herself.

Gemlynn's parents grew quite concerned for her and after listening to her troubles, permitted her to head out on her own to find herself, find healing and comfort from her loss so that she could return and be the Gemlynn they always knew. But she knew that she would never be the same. She packed up a few things, summoned her ferret, Mojo, and headed out on her own into Elanthia. She stumbled upon Solhaven and made the town her home. She continued to live independently, not wanting to rely on anyone for anything for fear of rejection or hurting them. She met trainers and harnessed her powers and abilities to have better control.

Gemlynn visits her family once a year during the holidays.
