Synopsis

Future Baron Elidal and Magister Enisius come to speak with people in the camp, where Perigourd and others have already constructed the walls save for some final lashings, which he and other adventurers finish throughout the night.

Enisius says he isn't prepared to announce his research team yet, as a few candidates require additional research and possibly questioning. In any case, it will be weeks before they begin work at Melgorehn's Reach as he doesn't want to work in the snow. Before leaving, Enisius also gets clarification from Gutstorm that his application, like everything else about him, was serious.

Meanwhile, Elidal says Lady Aronia is planning a ritual next week to lend Imaera's grace to the land and usher in a bountiful spring. He also expects word from Earl Jovery on Feastday. He also wishes to meet with the Black Thorns the night before, on the Eve of the Huntress; though none are present, he asks those who are there to get word to them.

Afterward, the group tours the new encampment walls. While there, minotaurs are spotted approaching, hoisting up feras weapons--but they then throw them down before marching off. The group concludes that it was likely a sign of them leaving Gnul's alliance.

Log

Awaiting Elidal and Enisius

The night sky is lightened by a wide curtain of radiant snow that drifts down from above, each flake capturing the silver glint of the moon.

[Town Square Central]

This is the heart of the main square of Wehnimer's Landing. The impromptu shops of the bazaar are clustered around this central gathering place, where townsfolk, travellers, and adventurers meet to talk, conspire or raise expeditions to the far-flung reaches of Elanith. At the north end, an old well, with moss-covered stones and a craggy roof, is shaded from the moonlight by a strong, robust tree. The oak is tall and straight, and it is apparent that the roots run deep. You also see the Vatsesan disk, a sinuous bone white serpent, a large acorn, a grey-muzzled autumn-hued kit with black stockings, the Broadfuguis disk, the Kelfyr disk, a grizzled porcupine, the Maleagant disk, the Stormyrain disk, the Keletheryl disk, a massive grey wolf, the Allow disk, a large acorn, the skull-shaped Irval disk, a large acorn, an old well, some wide stone benches with some stuff on it, an herbal remedy donation bin and a round silver-banded barrel.

Also here: Vatsesan, Drektor, Kisun, Broadfuguis who is kneeling, Kelfyr, Maleagant, Stormyrain, Grand Lord Keletheryl, Draelor, Allow, Grand Lord Irval, Lord Prothiel

Speaking to Kelfyr, Stormyrain says, "Yes, something in the air tells me I will wish I was three whiskeys deep soon."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Kelfyr says, "Well, pitter patter."

Stormyrain mutters, "Well maybe four."

Alosaka says, "And we're cold again."

Speaking to Alosaka, Perigourd says, "How quickly our fates change."

Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin says, "Cheer up. Just some cold."

Alosaka says, "The weather will be cold or not, regardless of my attitude toward it."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Alosaka says, "Therefore, I should have a positive attitude toward it."

Cryheart says, "Might as well."

A roly-poly cat exclaims, "Fear my mighty presence!"

Speaking quietly to Cryheart, Drektor says, "You have a thing on yer uh.."

The roly-poly cat meows at a pale-faced coppery barn owl.

The coppery barn owl hoots at a roly-poly cat.

Stormyrain squints at Cryheart.

A roly-poly cat exclaims, "Owl!"

Cryheart asks, "What?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Stormyrain says, "You're wearing an elf ghost."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Stormyrain says, "Well then."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Alosaka says, "I hear that's what happens if you try to bury an elf in the winter."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Kelfyr says, "Sort of a haunting situation or somesuch."

Kelfyr says, "I hear a dip in the Voln pool will clear that right up."

Earthdiver asks, "More and more things haunted these days. Will Voln do nothing?"

Kelfyr says, "No favor in it."

Cryheart says, "Reason I am in Voln."

A roly-poly cat says, "Elf ghosts are weak."

Cryheart says, "They be just a spirit."

Tikba reticently says, "I must apologize for my behavior at Lady Sayilla's exhibition. I hope that people enjoyed the artwork."

A roly-poly cat says, "Make me town councilor."

Speaking to Tikba, Guarrin asks, "Eh?"

Alosaka demurs, "I noticed nothing untoward."

Speaking to Tikba, Missoni says, "Oh, there is no need to apologize."

A roly-poly cat says, "I've ideas to get this place into shape and running smoothly."

Cryheart says, "She stated that she honored the Aelotoi."

Speaking thoughtfully to Tikba, Missoni says, "It is important that art speaks to wider social ideas."

Speaking softly to a fluffy white cat, Kayani says, "There are already plenty of rats in the sewers."

Speaking to Guarrin, Tikba explains, "I did not mean to become embroiled in argument. That is all."

A roly-poly cat says, "Mostly it involves forced work."

Speaking softly to herself, Kayani says, "Too many cats."

Speaking to a roly-poly cat, Kiyna says, "Did you know council applicants pay half a million silver up-front? Happy to let you apply, if you've got the funds."

Speaking to Tikba, Guarrin says, "No need to apologize. It is some fine artwork though."

Speaking to Kiyna, Kelfyr asks, "Do you collect those fees yourself?"

A roly-poly cat says, "Sure, I can pay that. I can just take what I want and no one can stop me. Getting half a million coins would be easy."

Speaking thoughtfully to Missoni, Tikba says, "That is an interesting thought."

Speaking to Missoni, Tikba says, "The statues were certainly very lifelike."

A roly-poly cat says, "I liberate money from the bank all the time."

A roly-poly cat says, "And as a cat, I can't be charged with theft because only people can be."

Kayse inquires, "What is news?"

Guarrin shrugs slightly at Kayse.

Speaking to Kayse, Kiyna says, "Not much news yet, I think. I didn't die tonight, so that's an improvement."

Speaking dryly to Guarrin, Kayse says, "Your enthusiasm is overwhelming."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Stormyrain grumbles, "Dwarf."

A roly-poly cat says, "You should say that more excitedly."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Anyone doonin da scavancher hunt?"

Leifa whispers something to Kezoku.

Speaking to Kayse, Guarrin says, "Been a busy few days."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Morikun asks, "How many ya got?"

[General] Elidal thinks, "The snow is endless."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kelfyr asks, "Find one?"

[General] Kiyna thinks, "Evening, Eli."

[General] Enisius thinks, "It is winter. It will do that."

[General] Vaemyr thinks, "Evening Elidal and Enisius."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Oh, he gonna gimme me job!"

[General] Lylia thinks, "Nothing is endless...but it certainly feels that way."

Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm slurs, "How me nook?"

Speaking to Cryheart, Guarrin says, "Seems we have the baron to be and his brother around tonight."

[General] Alosaka thinks, "I have faith that Spring will come one day."

Cryheart says, "Ye be standing, ye look good."

[General] Tikba evenly thinks, "Elidal, Magister."

[General] Elidal thinks, "Good evening all."

[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "Good evening."

[General] Cryheart thinks, "Too evening."

[General] Ulfwine thinks, ""Good evening Lord Elidal."

[Realm] Alosaka thinks, "Lord Elidal, good evening."

[General] Cryheart asks, "How are ye, Lord Elidal?"

[General] Elidal asks, "Are there more logs to be collected?"

[Realm] Guarrin thinks, "I am told they were nearly done."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "No, but the lashings on the southern foundations need replacing."

[General] Kayani thinks, "Poor forest."

[General] Toman thinks, "I'm starting go become convinced the snow is a preemptive strike against the Landing ahead of a halfling invasion."

Speaking to Cryheart, Guarrin says, "Let's head to the camp."

Cryheart says, "Join quickly..heading to camp."

[General] Marroc thinks, "Won't be much left for the halflings."

A roly-poly cat says, "I should get tribute first."

Keletheryl darkly says, "What kind of camp."

[General] Elidal thinks, "I will be along shortly to inspect Perigourd."

Cryheart says, "The settlement."

Cryheart says, "Moving out."

[travel]

[Realm] Alosaka thinks, "I can tell you right now that Perigourd is healthy and hale."

[General] Perigourd thinks, "Cold though."

[General] Evia thinks, "You're going to inspect Perigourd? oh dear."

Speaking to Guarrin, Alosaka exclaims, "We have to laugh at something!"

Cryheart says, "Walls look good."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Coursh dey nook goot, me built dem."

Speaking to Alosaka, Guarrin asks, "Do we?"

[Imperial Campsite]

A roaring bonfire demands attention from the center of this temporary town, its coppery gold flames mesmerizing as they dance. Rows of tents bordering the fire create purposeful pathways to other areas of the camp. You also see a ball and chain, a long wooden log and a stained wooden keg.

Alosaka promises, "I'll get you to laugh yet, one of these days."

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc says something you don't understand.

Raising the Walls

Magister Enisius just arrived.

Lord Elidal just arrived.

Enisius blinks.

Vaemyr says, "Evening to you both."

Cryheart says, "Good evening, Magister Enisiusand Lord Elidal."

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Elidal says, "They are more used to the weather than you brother."

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Leifa whispers something to Kezoku.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "If you are looking for Perigourd he is still a bit to the west working on a foundation."

Cryheart says, "Errr Magister Enisius."

Enisius says, "I see...."

[General] Mandrill asks, "Any healer in Landing please?"

Elidal says, "You grew too comfortable in Nydds."

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Kelfyr says, "Well, some of us wear more sensible footwear."

Elidal asks, "Is Perigourd off raising the walls?"

Elidal smirks.

Guarrin says, "Yes, it seems so."

Speaking cheerfully to Elidal, Missoni says, "Of course."

Enisius asks, "Is it not rude that we just stand here then?"

Enisius peers quizzically at Elidal.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "So you are here to inspect Perigourd, then? Fair enough."

Elidal begins chuckling at Kiyna!

Elidal says, "No."

Elidal says, "Let's go find him."

Speaking amusedly to Enisius, Tikba says, "You are right, my friend."

Elidal says, "If any wish to join me."

Missoni says, "He is just this way."

[joining]

Cryheart says, "Form on Lord Elidal."

Enisius moves to the back of the crowd. The very far back.

A roly-poly cat says, "Lets just stay still. My fat legs don't cooperate with running around."

[travel]

Xorus says, "When watching others work, I find it best to suggest they lift with their knees."

Speaking to Lylia, Xorus says, "More often than not, it is useful and accurate."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "You are worse at finding things than Sir Cryheart." [it was a lot of travel]

Elidal squints.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "It's an excellent Cryheart impression."

Elidal chuckles.

Alosaka asks, "Are the walls to your liking, Sir Elidal?"

Kelfyr says, "It can be hard to see in this snow."

Kelfyr says, "I'm told."

Elidal asks, "Who will be pretending to be Samfelt this night?"

Elidal smirks.

[Imperial Campsite]

Rugged canvas tents stand near the opening of the glade, as uniformed soldiers guard the entrance. Knights wearing various Imperial crests heavily patrol the area, their clanging armor echoing throughout the Lower Dragonsclaw. You also see a badly damaged haon trunk, an engraved modwir box, the repousse copper Perigourd disk raised in leafy designs, a rough foundation and a young freckle-faced squire.

Elidal says, "Lift with yout legs."

Missoni says, "Perigourd does tend to blend in. It is all the green."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Cryheart yells, "Ye cannae hide Perigourd!"

Cryheart says, "Oh."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Thankfully, most the lifting is done."

Xorus says, "Perfect."

Elidal says, "We're eternally grateful for your help with the walls."

Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "Thank you."

Enisius asks, "Am I still needed?"

Enisius peers quizzically at Elidal.

Elidal asks, "Are you prepared to announce your team yet?"

Enisius says, "No."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "I expect a true test will come soon enough."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "And it's my honor to be of service."

Enisius says, "There are a few candidates who require some additional research and possible questioning."

Elidal sighs.

Speaking to Enisius, Vaemyr asks, "Did you have thoughts you would like to share about the plinite... affected monsters?"

Elidal asks, "May I ask who?"

Kayse observes, "This is quite the process."

Enisius says, "No."

Thrassus says, "It never hurts to be thorough."

Speaking to Dirra, Raelee says, "They are here."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me got good cord."

Speaking amusedly to Kayse, Kiyna says, "I think some of our council matters have proceeded faster. Enisius is a one-man bureaucracy."

A roly-poly cat says, "I'm obligated to eat this.."

Archious neutrally says, "There is value in not rushing such delicate work."

Kayani softly says, "Thats called dictatorship."

Enisius says, "If the creature Gnul is using the plinite to try to empower his army, it is likely to continue to have ill effects and failed results. We can only hope he'll kill himself in the process."

Ulfwine lashes the intersection of the foundation with his piece of cord, making certain it's tightly wound and very secure. The rough foundation is slowly raised to its full height and looks quite functional!

Ulfwine says, "Way-oh, up she goes."

Kayse counters, "But what if he doesn't...."

Kelfyr says, "In my experience we're not that lucky."

Speaking cheerfully to Ulfwine, Missoni says, "Well done."

Speaking to Enisius, Raelee says, "If Gnul is what we whink he is, he is more likely than his minions to survive. An elemental body such as that..."

Enisius asks, "What do we think he is?"

Enisius peers quizzically at Raelee.

Speaking quietly to Enisius, Raelee asks, "And were they complaining of the speed of our processing their applications?"

Ulfwine says, "He is an enigma."

Speaking to Enisius, Raelee says, "Stone Giant, possibly akin to those wandering in the Illoke territory."

Kayse ponders, "Do we have any other hypothesis or speculation about what he might be trying to do?"

Alosaka says, "Our assumption is that he is some sort of stone creature, alike to Illoke's minions."

Enisius says, "No one is complaining. My brother is at times impatient. He will not show it often, but he can be."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dat wall done."

Elidal shrugs.

Elidal says, "Guilty."

Elidal says, "It's for you as much as me. I know you have your eyes to the Reach."

Ulfwine says, "Or that thing we see is an illusion, or an actor playing a part or . . ."

Speaking to Enisius, Vaemyr says, "I mean... it has been nearly a month since they were submitted I'm sure the applicants are also anxious to know."

Enisius says, "Not with the snow. It will be weeks until we begin our work at the Reach."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Apparently at least one of your people is already doing research up there."

Enisius says, "Patience is as intregral to our work as the knowledge to conduct it. I am sure all candidates will, or should, understand that."

Enisius nods at Vaemyr.

Vaemyr nods at Enisius.

Lylia diplomatically says, "I am sure that many of us who are candidates have ample time."

Enisius says, "If Gnul fails to utilize the plinite properly, we could also expect some type of catastrophe as a result. We should be prepared for the potential fallout."

Tikba mildly says, "I have heard it said that to seek knowledge often requires one to be of great patience."

Kayse asks, "Is there a way to neutralize the plinite if he's successful?"

Raelee says, "Neutralize? No."

Raelee says, "Redirect... possibly."

Enisius nods at Raelee.

Speaking to Enisius, Kiyna says, "I suppose even if he succeeds at using it successfully, much will have been wasted in the process of experimenting. That's in our favor."

Kayse flatly asks, "I tried to use a science term... how do we stop it?"

Raelee says, "Plinite is elemental energy in solid form, effectively."

[travel]

Raelee asks, "Mana cannot be created nor destroyed. The energy exists. Thus, the question is where does it go and how does it get there?"

Speaking to Elidal, Kelfyr asks, "Legs getting stiff?"

Perigourd says, "South, and then southeastward, I believe."

Perigourd nods at Elidal.

Elidal says, "We're looking for the next...."

Elidal nods.

[Imperial Campsite]

A few children sit still, in a half-circle, before an elderly man who is perched upon a wide modwir stump, waving his hands about as he weaves a long tale to the enraptured audience. Dappled moonlight leaks through the canopy of trees, illuminating the forest floor in a radiant glow. You also see a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a long piece of cord, a rough foundation and a blanket of snow.

Elidal gazes in wonder at his surroundings.

Elidal picks up a long piece of cord.

Elidal lashes the intersection of the foundation with his piece of cord, making certain it's tightly wound and very secure.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Perigourd says, "Ahead of me there."

Enisius looks down at one of the cords, but shrugs.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Tikba asks, "Where did you get all this cord?"

Ulfwine says, "Way-oh, up she goes."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me made shpeshal delivry."

Speaking to Enisius, Kiyna asks, "Do I agree with you on something?"

Enisius peers quizzically at Kiyna.

Enisius asks, "I don't know. Do you?"

Enisius asks, "Who are you?"

Kiyna snickers at Enisius.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me am have me countant Dwi invoish yooz a bill ferda all me werk doonin today."

Elidal sighs at Enisius.

Earthdiver says, "Is anti-mana negative energy, then."

Speaking amusedly to Gutstorm, Kayse says, "Ah, there it is. The real reason you helped."

Enisius glances at a rough foundation.

The roly-poly cat paws curiously at a long piece of cord.

A roly-poly cat says, "That one was mine."

Enisius says, "Oh, yes. Her."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kayse explains, "They will not be paying you."

Enisius nods at Thrassus.

Enisius says, "You said magic was boring."

Earthdiver says, "Perhaps there is anti-plinite."

Enisius says, "No, we likely do not agree."

Speaking to Enisius, Kiyna says, "I stated a fact."

(Lylia draws the length of cord along the ground in front of the cat.)

Kiyna grins at Enisius.

Earthdiver says, "Ahh."

Lylia waves a long piece of cord at a roly-poly cat.

The roly-poly cat paws curiously at Lylia.

Enisius says, "A fact is something you..."

Elidal glances at Enisius.

Enisius says, "Nevermind."

Speaking drunkenly to Lylia, Gutstorm slurs, "Wanna tied up?"

Enisius looks at his palm.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "I am paying homage to Andelas. Do not disturb my religious rites."

Enisius says, "It is a pleasure to be in your company."

Kiyna appears to be struggling to keep a straight face.

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Lylia waves a long piece of cord at a roly-poly cat.

Speaking encouragingly to Enisius, Tikba says, "Well done."

A roly-poly cat says, "Must.. kill.. cord.."

Ulfwine says, "Oozes sincerity."

Lylia exclaims, "All yours!"

Lylia carefully places a long piece of cord on the ground.

The roly-poly cat paws curiously at a long piece of cord.

The white cat paws curiously at a long piece of cord.

Elidal says, "Sometimes brother, I'd be hard pressed to pick you apart from the golems of the glatoph."

Elidal chuckles.

Speaking to a fluffy white cat, Lylia says, "Mighty slayer. Well done."

Speaking dryly to Enisius, Raelee says, "A Magister never ought lie, Enisius."

Enisius asks, "Thank you?"

Elidal glances at a length of sturdy wooden walls and grins.

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Another to the east, and southeast."

Xorus says, "Those have springs."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Boogersh and tree shap make better adhesive den cord ye know."

Ulfwine says, "Up she goes."

Stormyrain takes a bite of her donut hole.

The donut hole emits a cloud of powdered sugar, which settles on Stormyrain's face and clothes.

A roly-poly cat says, "I killed it."

Leifa compliments, "What a good kitty."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Kayse remarks, "Messy."

Enisius asks, "May I?"

Stormyrain grumbles, "Yes I see that."

Enisius peers quizzically at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Take cord."

Lylia says, "Oh, very well done."

Elidal sighs.

Elidal picks up a long piece of cord.

Elidal lashes the intersection of the foundation with his piece of cord, making certain it's tightly wound and very secure.

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Kiyna yells, "I think it's off-center. Pull it all up and try again?"

Xorus says, "But be sure to lift with your knees."

Speaking to Kezoku, Leifa comments, "They are so industrious."

Enisius says, "I'll work to provide some measure of defenses for the settlement and town."

Enisius nods at Elidal.

Tikba agrees, "Your back will not survive, otherwise."

Enisius says, "Should Gnul fail or succeed."

Elidal nods.

Researcher Gutstorm

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Hey what bout me job researching darkstone magic?"

Speaking curiously to Enisius, Guarrin asks, "What type?"

Enisius says, "I have not selected my candidates yet."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "He has more questions to ask of some candidates."

Perigourd says, "That would seem to be all of them."

Enisius asks, "Your...your application was serious?"

Enisius peers quizzically at Gutstorm.

Speaking to Enisius, Thrassus says, "I'd reccomend imbuing the walls with some fire resistant magic."

Speaking to Enisius, Vaemyr says, "Would you share your ideas? We would be happy to potentially implement similar preperations for our town as well."

Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni says, "Oh, excellent."

Ulfwine says, "Job well done."

A roly-poly cat exclaims, "Die cords!" The cat leaps into the pile of cords, rolling around and wrestling ontop of them. "Mine!"

Speaking drunkenly to Enisius, Gutstorm slurs, "Nook at me, everfin bout me sherioush!"

Gutstorm growls at Enisius.

Enisius says, "I have seen you. I disagree."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kayse says, "He did say he would work on them for the settlement and the town."

Kayse adds, "Which is appreciated."

Enisius says, "You reek of the bottom of the barrel. The bottom."

Speaking to Enisius, Tikba says, "Gutstorm is very..."

A roly-poly cat says, "Give that back."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dont mean me no git da job done."

Speaking to Kayse, Vaemyr says, "Ahh appoligies I only heard settlement over all the lashing."

Speaking to Enisius, Tikba says, "I would say he is quite..."

Speaking to Enisius, Kiyna says, "Yes, the part exposed the longest to the ale."

Ulfwine says, "That was . . . harsh."

Speaking to Lylia, Leifa suggests, "You've heartily encouraged that feline."

Speaking to Lylia, Tikba asks, "What do you think of Gutstorm?"

Leifa says, "Well done."

Enisius pulls out a piece of dark-stained parchment.

Speaking to Leifa, Lylia replies, "I see a cat, I see some string, I do what should be done."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me think mine had da ale shtain."

Enisius says, "How do I even..."

Enisius moves to stand near Gutstorm, but not too near.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Raelee approved of me applecation, she nooked it over afore am shumbitted it."

Enisius twists his lips in an awkward, and perhaps painful way, as he looks at the parchment in his hand.

A roly-poly cat says, "The cooked fish, natural prey of the cat."

Enisius slurs, "Me enjoy blowing people arm off with me limb disruption spell, so me can then beat them with it, and me can tell dem to shtop hittin demshelf."

Gutstorm grunts at Enisius in agreement.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Raelee says, "I looked it over and remarked on your inability to spell 'Magister'."

Enisius glances at Gutstorm.

Earthdiver says, "Oh. That is a pretty good one."

Kelfyr says, "I mean, that's just productive use of magical initiative."

Speaking to Enisius, Lylia says, "This is an admirable economy of resources, I am sure you would agree."

Xorus says, "As is done."

Enisius places his parchment back into his robe.

Speaking to Enisius, Kiyna says, "He also writes like that? Oh. Oh, that's incredible."

A roly-poly cat says, "This one isn't being fed to me, it's just sitting theree."

Tikba diplomatically says, "It was clear to me that he worked hard on it."

Enisius sighs.

Elidal nods at Enisius.

Elidal says, "Goodnight brother. Get some rest, father comes in the spring."

Speaking to a roly-poly cat, Evia says, "You should .. paws .. and examine the cords."

Enisius clenches his jaw.

Vaemyr says, "How do you... write drunk... isn't like I don't even... that's like writing with an accent."

Enisius says, "Goodnight."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Vaemyr says, "That must be some talent you have."

Magister Enisius just went northeast.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Not eashy, dat fer shore."

Elidal says, "He means well."

Elidal nods at Gutstorm.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr asks, "Does he?"

A roly-poly cat says, "I was eating that one."

Ulfwine says, "He lacks certain social graces, but not all need have them."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Leifa says, "The credit is partially in the clever narration, it would seem."

Aronia's Next Move

Elidal asks, "Will you all be joining Lady Aronia early next week? When she seeks to help lend Imaera's grace to this land, to help usher in a bountiful spring?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "She Malwind Easht or Wesht?"

Ulfwine says, "Most assuredly, M'Lord."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Do you know when she wishes to do this?"

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni says, "Surely."

Elidal says, "Early next week."

Elidal begins chuckling at Kayse!

Kayse eyes Elidal with a stern expression, her dark sclera reduced to mere slits.

Ulfwine says, "And we shall add Koar's Blessing to it as well."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse says, "Drazaa would like to be there. He is quite concerned regarding the land--hoped I could communicate WHEN in the week to him."

Lylia diplomatically says, "I shall wish the endeavors the best, from some remove."

Elidal says, "Likely the eve of Volnes."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin asks, "Has she selected a location?"

Kelfyr says, "The whims of Imaera don't apparently adhere to predictable dates and times."

Bellaja slowly comments, "It seems a little early for Spring."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Not interested. I'd rather not be there if Imaera will be."

Elidal shrugs at Guarrin.

Speaking to Bellaja, Kisun says, "We're just hoping to end all this snow.."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Is there anything we can bring to assist Aronia with her ritual?"

Elidal says, "Spring, yes. But to prepare for a harvest? Never too early."

Elidal nods at Bellaja.

Ulfwine says, "The new chapel nearby would seem a likely location."

Speaking to Kisun, Bellaja says, "If only it worked that way."

Elidal says, "I will ask her."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

A roly-poly cat says, "I say you should be a fishing camp instead of farming. Everyone prefers fish to grown stuff."

Marroc says, "Hrrrm."

Elidal says, "I am told I may receive word from the Earl as well, by as early as the eve of Feastday."

Elidal says, "It would have likely been sooner but...this snow."

Elidal says, "Even I have grown impatient with it."

Perigourd says, "Surprising that some of the mountain paths about here are still open with all the snowfall."

Ulfwine says, "It cannot end soon enough."

Conversations

Elidal asks, "We are still due a conversation soon, are we not?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Archious.

Speaking to Elidal, Bellaja says, "We certainly keep our cobblers working."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Eii. We are."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Tikba mildly says, "It will be good to learn of the Earl's disposition of our home."

Elidal says, "I hope the time has given the Tower plenty of time to consider my offer."

Elidal says, "Which...brings me to another subject."

Elidal says, "My eyes are tired. I've spent the last week reading several letters."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "We have. I am sure we will find an appropriate time to discuss it."

A roly-poly cat says, "I want a tower. I feel left out not having one."

Elidal says, "Your Mayor...so fierce and sharp even with his words."

Elidal says, "Amos..roars like a silver-tongued lion."

Cryheart says, "Aye."

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc says something you don't understand.

Thrassus says, "You should see what he does with windows."

Kayse neutrally says, "A reason they are both leaders in our town."

Elidal says, "Thorns throwing about cards and letters."

Speaking to Kayse, Lylia says, "Indeed. The right words move worlds."

Elidal asks, "I suppose that is a good day then, yes? When confict is fought with words and ink not swords and blood?"

Elidal says, "Perhaps the town is more like imperial courts than they think."

Elidal chuckles.'

Xorus says, "If only."

Speaking mildly to Elidal, Tikba agrees, "Yes."

Speaking ruefully to Elidal, Kayse says, "Yes, for now it is just words..."

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Elidal says, "It always begins with words."

Elidal says, "Which is why I seek to make good on my offer weeks ago."

Elidal looks in the crowd, and then lower to the ground.

Evia says, "Aah the ever present ..."

Elidal asks, "Are there any here tonight, who speak for the Black Thorns?"

A roly-poly cat says, "I've an idea. You should pick me up and fly me around and then I can attack people from above."

[pause]

Elidal says, "I see."

Tikba vaguely says, "I am not sure there is one here tonight."

Elidal shrugs.

Lylia dryly observes, "They tend to go to ground when confronted directly."

Thrassus says, "It has been fairly quiet this eve I suppose."

Kelfyr says, "Given the rhetoric about stomping them out, they may not feel all that comfortable in this camp."

A roly-poly cat says, "Owls are no fun."

Elidal says, "I am sure my message can get to them, or someone here can assist with that."

Vaemyr says, "They are probably listening regardless of being seen I suspect."

Lylia adds, "And it would be unusual for them to come here and offer aid to construction in an Imperial settlement."

Lylia says, "No doubt."

Elidal says, "I think I was clear, I hope I was clear, that would be my response if they evolved into the manner of the Brotherhood of Rooks."

Elidal nods at Kelfyr.

Kelfyr shrugs.

Kelfyr says, "You'd have to ask them."

Elidal says, "There is disagreement, and then there is ill influence and violence."

Kelfyr says, "My thorns are all green."

Tikba diplomatically says, "Dendum expressed to me in no uncertain terms his regret that trees were being felled during the winter. In his view, the wildlife would suffer."

Elidal says, "This Night of the Huntress, I would seek an audience with members of these Black Thorns."

Speaking to Tikba, Kayse admits, "That is Drazaa's concern as well."

Elidal says, "All are welcome to attend of course, in the spirit of transparency."

Elidal says, "They write and claim they wish to be heard. I am not a leader, or a lord, or a good ally and neighbor if I do not listen."

Speaking curiously to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Why are you attempting to speak to the Black Thorns but not the Brotherhood of the Rooks?"

Speaking to Kayse, Kelfyr says, "Apparently the propaganda campaign gets results."

Thrassus says, "The Rooks tend to throw those explosive orbs around a bit too liberally."

Evia says, "And set fires on our rooftops."

Kayse reticently says, "All of you answering aren't Eli."

Cryheart says, "And use children."

Elidal says, "Because the Black Thorns, as nefarious as the name implies, have truthfully been more of a hiccup. The Brotherhood of Rooks are criminals and killers. They have used children as shields. They have harassed and blackmailed merchants."

Ulfwine says, "Thugs."

Elidal says, "Perhaps if someone spoke to the Rooks before they reached that level, things would have been different."

Elidal says, "I won't pretend to assume that is true, but, one can only wonder."

Lylia says, "With due respect, a young monster is still a threat; it just has not been around long enough to devour anything important. Yet."

Speaking to Lylia, Ulfwine says, ""A baby viper is a viper still."

Elidal asks, "I disagree with everything the Thorns do, and say, and their harassment of imperial citizens is appalling. They should be ashamed of their antics. But I cannot rightfully not give them the chance to speak to me, no?"

Missoni muses, "We are not speaking of a monster here, though, are we."

Elidal says, "Darkstone will not please every citizen in Wehnimer's Landing. There is no way. It is not feasible. But I will listen to everyone."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse counters, "This town has a history of Imperials coming here and tainting the views of our townsfolk by their criminal acts and evil. You are different, no?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye ever wunner if da kobold or orc wake up one day, gleeflee finkin, me gonna kill a monter-elf today."

Elidal says, "Let us be honest. The thorns are trying to taint the views of townspeople just as much as anyone else."

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "It is a bit rude to those of us who wish they would shut up, but I suppose you are the master of your own fate..."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "The Rooks have not used children as shields or done many of the things listed off in many years. Why could they not change?"

Elidal says, "But I will hear them."

Kayse offers, "Perhaps they deserve an audience as well."

Lylia says, "You are lucky your ears have no points to be worn off by their bleating."

Speaking to Kayse, Guarrin says, "Mother was just in vornavis court threatening those from sending additional aid north."

Speaking to Guarrin, Perigourd says, "Prior to that even, with the Earl."

Speaking to Guarrin, Kayse says, "I am aware. But no one is talking to each other."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Lylia says, "I do not assume such creatures think, as we know it, at all."

Ulfwine says, "Always the excuses for those blackguards."

Evia says, "Also Grishom Stone hasn't murdered anyone in a few years, maybe he has changed."

Elidal asks, "You disagree with my course of action?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Lylia.

Speaking to Kayse, Guarrin asks, "She did not seem to be open to discussion. Perhaps if the Rooks had someone else more willing to be open to discussion?"

Kayse amusedly says, "You all ask your council to do things. I am trying to accomplish change."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "With all do respect... I must say that while everything you have said about the Rooks is true, they do appear to of changed somewhat over the past couple years. I would not say it could be too late to speak with at least the current itteration of them. While unlikely you convince Mother of anything, perhaps you could get through to others, people who've not seen any othr choices or ways."

Tikba mildly says, "I was surprised the guards did not seize Mother when she emerged. No doubt she would have been good for many years in the mines."

Lylia says, "I do not disagree with it so much as...hmm, so much as I regret the reception you are going to receive."

Xorus remarks, "The Rooks were extorting merchants under Mother over prices when Lylia was Mayor."

Elidal says, "I expect very little."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Speaking to Elidal, Lylia says, "And I worry that you will get even less."

Elidal says, "I am optimistic, but not naive. One can be both successfully."

Elidal chuckles.

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc says something you don't understand.

Elidal says, "Besides..."

Cryheart whispers something to Evia.

Speaking annoyedly in Sylvankind to Stormyrain, Kayse asks something you don't understand.

Raelee says, "Perhaps, given that 'Mother' threatening Athalia Malwind in her own court was the most recent public act, the Rooks may need to consider what they can do to show that change."

Speaking in Sylvankind to Kayse, Stormyrain says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Raelee, Lylia asks, "She did that?"

Elidal says, "In the future, when our town R...when our town is built and the Barony begins to flourish..."

Speaking to Lylia, Raelee says, "Yes."

Elidal says, "I will be saddled with the burden of imperial court."

Elidal asks, "Am I to turn away every farmer that disagrees with me? Or group of peddlers, or sailors?"

Speaking to Elidal, Ulfwine says, ""My sympathies, Lord."

Speaking to Raelee, Kayse says, "My point is no one is trying."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Elidal, yoo should git out while yoo ahead, me fink not yoo know wutchoo sign up fer."

Lylia acknowledges, "Yes. And in an official capacity, you must hear every bleat and blither. I understand well."

Lylia nods at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Listening to them, does not validate them. If anything, it only further validates me."

Elidal nods at Lylia.

Stormyrain wearily says, "Not in their eyes, I'm sure."

Lylia smiles ruefully and replies, "I hope so. I truly do."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Some of them are within reason."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "I can appreciate your position. Baron Malwind himself did once welcome a czag dubra to his court under a white flag for parley. However, I agree with Lylia, I do not expect much will be accomplished."

Speaking mildly to Elidal, Tikba says, "It certainly gives that impression."

Lylia says, "I admire your resolve."

Elidal says, "I am not worried about me in their eyes."

Elidal nods at Stormyrain.

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Lylia says, "But I would still bring some soft cotton for your ears, should it all get too shrill."

Elidal says, "I am going into the meeting with every expectation set as low as possible."

Elidal chuckles.

Tikba mildly says, "You need have no fear on that score. You are very capable when it comes to diplomacy."

Elidal says, "You are all welcome to attend as well. I would welcome the company."

Elidal grins at Tikba.

Elidal says, "I blame my mother."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Lylia says, "I am torn between immolating myself in mawfire and listening to self-important popinjays crying for a voice in a town they do not even call home."

Speaking to Kayse, Raelee says, "Then perhaps the Rooks should make that first gesture. Lord Elidal is only one side of the conflict. If it is all on his shoulders then no, no one will try."

Kelfyr says, "I don't know that you're inviting a conversation with them directly by bringing a mob of detractors to bear witness."

Lylia says, "We shall see on the day what I shall choose."

Elidal says, "Perhaps, even during the meeting, we can do what Aronia and I used to do when younger...when we had to suffer the courts of home."

Speaking indifferently to Raelee, Kayse says, "I think both need to meet each other halfway."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "She yoo wife?"

Elidal begins chuckling at Gutstorm!

Elidal says, "No. She is a....friend."

Elidal nods.

Elidal says, "We will select a word during the meeting, and whenever those of the "resistance" speak it..."

Elidal says, "We'll drink."

Elidal winks.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Like Cryheart friend wit Athalia?"

Gutstorm raises an eyebrow in Elidal's direction.

Thrassus says, "That could be lethal."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "For the sake of your life, don't choose 'freedom'."

Elidal begins chuckling at Thrassus!

Xorus says, "I was thinking it." A black-toed saddleback foxhound suddenly bounds across the area, enjoying his freedom with long lazy lopes.

Elidal laughs at Kiyna!

Kelfyr says, "The act of a statesman, surely."

Elidal says, "Freedom it is then."

Stormyrain offers, "I have a bottomless pitcher."

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Rest in peace."

Ulfwine says, "We'll leave looking like Guts."

Kiyna nods somberly at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Here is my true concern."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Doubtful, me got shnippersh."

Elidal says, "...and I will say it to them as loudly as I say it to you."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "We shall all be Gutstorm tomorrow night then."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Bellaja says, "I refuse."

Speaking to Kayse, Stormyrain murmurs, "You still have one of those sobering stones yes?"

Kayse nods once at Stormyrain.

Stormyrain says, "I'll need it."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Kayse says, "Perhaps if we are offering them an audience we shouldn't make a joke of it."

Elidal says, "If I attend one night in a meeting with the Black Thorns...and it keeps them from moving too far away from civil discord that they are absorbed into the ranks of the Rooks...then it is worth my effort and time."

Speaking amusedly to Kayse, Tikba says, "It is too late."

Speaking to Kayse, Stormyrain says, "I'm not."

Ulfwine says, "It is important to make the effort I suppose."

Speaking mildly to Kayse, Tikba says, "But you need not fear. I am sure Elidal will be courteous on the day. He is always so capable at gauging his audience."

Elidal nods at Ulfwine.

Lylia asks, "And if it lends steel to their spines instead?"

Speaking dismissively to Tikba, Kayse says, "It is not my problem to worry about. I gave my advice."

Speaking to Lylia, Ulfwine says, ""They appear to be pretty set as they are already. I don't know that it could be any worse."

Speaking to Lylia, Vaemyr says, "I don't see the harm in giving discussion a try."

Speaking to Elidal, Stormyrain asks, "Will you give the same time to the Gryphons before you hear these Thorns?"

Elidal says, "I met with the Gryphons weeks ago to discuss the Thorns and some mutual plans of ours."

Elidal nods at Stormyrain.

Stormyrain raises an eyebrow.

Elidal says, "And equally the Brotherhood."

Lylia says, "It has always been one of the troubles of managed dissidence. A very thorny problem, no pun intended."

Stormyrain folds her hands behind her back.

Lylia says, "If you meet with them, you risk legitimizing them. Shunning them from all platforms lets them fester and gives them more time to paint anguished signs and write impassioned screeds."

Lylia sighs, "Sometimes balefire is best."

Stormyrain dusts herself off.

Elidal says, "In fact, the premise of the meeting was to acknowledge that Gnul, while being a threat, is a short term one. The long term threat was dissent. So we discussed the Thorns, and the Rooks."

Speaking to Lylia, Marroc says, "Manifestos are sometimes entertaining reading."

Elidal asks, "Was it not?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Guarrin.

Speaking to Marroc, Lylia says, "Indeed, and then become useful kindling."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "I recall mostly discussion of Bodohal."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna asks, "This was a private meeting?"

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Marroc says, "Truth."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "But my attention to the Thorns is minimal, as I happen to agree with Lylia in this matter."

Elidal says, "I suppose we see it differently then, but yes we discussed the Captain too."

Marroc says, "Salacious fictions, best burned."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "They are not the first group that has hated imperials."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "They will not be the last."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Then you should give the same to the Thorns. Kelfyr just said, you hardly invite a discussion by bringing mob of those who disagree with them to shout them down."

Elidal says, "Nor will they be th.."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "We are still here."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "We will still be here."

Elidal looks over at Kiyna and shakes his head.

Lylia says, "Bodohal is another threat, along with Gnul. It is good to keep their names foremost in everyone's minds, including these self-styled Thorns. Let them go prick holes in Bodohal."

Elidal says, "Let's be very clear abou something."

[General] Jehance thinks, "Phew, finally finished that order Furryback wanted. That was challenging for my skill level, but I managed it."

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Speaking to Lylia, Guarrin says, "Stone. A lich. The list is rather lengthy."

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "I don't recall much shouting.."

[General] Lylia exclaims, "Well done!"

[General] Jehance thinks, "Thanks."

Speaking to Lylia, Kelfyr says, "I don't think they've been anything but eager to end the Bodohol threat."

Speaking to Perigourd, Missoni whispers aloud, "Do you feel very much like a mob?"

Leifa mutters, "I'm sure 'they' would love being discussed in this manner."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Lylia says, "Good. that can be common ground on which to build."

Lylia says, "'They' had a chance to speak up, if 'they' were present."

Elidal says, "The Silver Gryphons uphold the highest standars of honor and duty. They fight in plain sight, they lay down their lives, for those who praise them, and those who would spit on them. They do not slink in the shadows of town, spreading lies, propoganda, trying to influence townspeople, and even work against the majority's wishes."

Speaking to Missoni, Evia says, "More akin to blob than mob most times."

[General] Jehance thinks, "Usually fair quality is all me, but he wanted fine quality this time. That's a bit challenging for me."

Elidal says, "...they are nothing like the thorns."

Speaking to Leifa, Stormyrain says, "They call for it, really. They wish the attention, and the limelight. All you have to do is read their manifestos to see that."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Hey dont sugar coat dem, me kin point out shum mishdeedsh."

Elidal says, "So no, I will not meet privately with the Thorns. I will not have my words behind closed doors be twisted onto paper."

Tikba mildly says, "Some find it difficult to face a crowd of opposition. If you wish to speak with them, you must speak with them as they are."

Elidal says, "Let eveyone hear what they have to say, and I have to say."

Kelfyr says, "Bring a second."

Ulfwine says, "Not to mention the security concerns."

Tikba mildly says, "Perhaps you could ask people to politely listen. I am sure we are all capable of that."

Kelfyr says, "Don't bring a mob and expect a dialogue."

Lylia says, "Sunlight is an excellent cleanser."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "I think it's a foolish move, but it's your call."

Elidal says, "A mob..."

Elidal laughs!

Missoni curiously quips, "Where may I pick up my torch?"

Speaking to Missoni, Ulfwine says, ""So we ARE a mob, then."

Elidal says, "Their tactics could arguably make them the "mob"."

Stormyrain says, "I think that most of those who hold differeing opinions from the Thorns are capable of listening without interrupting should that be the request of Elidal."

Elidal says, "I hope you will be there."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Missoni, Evia says, "Pitchforms are fun, I hear."

Speaking to Stormyrain, Tikba agrees, "That is what I would expect."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "It is most unlikely."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Some others of the Order may attend."

Speaking worriedly to Evia, Missoni says, "I would be likely to put out my own eye."

Tikba says, "Many of us have seen the inside of an imperial court before. Think of this as Elidal's first court."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "If you do request it, I will consider it further."

Lylia says, "It is no secret that I deplore those who do not even live here and yet seek to tell our town's government how

Tikba says, "Of course, this will mean dressing appropriately for court."

Elidal says, "I will not tolerate disturbances from either side. It will be a conversation. I am there to listen. If it becomes anything but that. I will end it."

Elidal says, "I would request it, but cannot command it."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna says, "Then I'll have to watch from afar, I suppose."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Very well."

Elidal says, "Spurs once earned, still require polish."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Guarrin raises an eyebrow in Elidal's direction.

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "If you are unhappy with my service, please do let my liege know."

Elidal begins chuckling at Guarrin!

Elidal says, "That...was a bit drastic."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Elidal says, "My statement meant...we should always strive to be better, to overcome, to not let words and barbs wound us."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

[it's possible I missed a line at this point as I stepped away for half a second, but came back to...]

Elidal says, "People like us....we see things differently."

Elidal nods at Guarrin.

Elidal says, "We have to at times, meet others where they are at."

Kelfyr says, "I hope you choose your words more carefully when you meet with those less likely to forgive them."

Elidal says, "That means coming to the table, not walking away from it."

Guarrin nods in agreement at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Regardless if we disapprove of the meal."

Evia says, "Just a small case of bone tired and standing in a snowstorm kranky-kilts."

Speaking to Elidal, Guarrin says, "Yes, the meeting with Sankir does come to mind."

Elidal peers quizzically at Kelfyr.

Evia says, "Such wind."

Elidal asks, "What words?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Kelfyr.

Elidal slowly empties his lungs.

Evia offers Ulfwine a round brown potato.

Ulfwine accepts Evia's brown potato.

Ulfwine says, "It was the smell of the roast Velnalin. Thank you."

Kelfyr says, "You're the diplomat here. You can be flip and friendly if you so choose."

Kelfyr says, "But those Thorns you seek to speak with will not take that tone as friends."

Kelfyr says, "And you seem to upset your own without realizing it."

Completed Walls

Elidal asks, "The walls are all completed?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Perigourd.

Perigourd nods in agreement at Elidal.

Cryheart says, "Seems so."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me tole ye we would habbem done today."

Vaemyr says, "Very fast work."

Elidal bows to Perigourd.

Elidal bows to Missoni.

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "There were others who did much to help."

Missoni curtsies to Elidal.

Tikba says, "I have heard that to pluck a rose with thorns, you must move slowly and carefully."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Perigourd says, "Gutstorm, Avalera, and others whom I didn't recognize."

Speaking to Tikba, Lylia says, "Or you create your own roses as you see fit."

[General] Guennwhfar thinks, "Locksmith available east tower; no box toop strong, no box too easy."

Elidal says, "I will be back in one moment..."

Lord Elidal just went northeast.

Lylia advises, "Best not to eat it."

Speaking to Lylia, Tikba says, "Your point is well taken."

Lylia quickly throws her black essence rose towards Xorus and glares inwardly. As the black essence rose travels through the air, it quickly begins to shift and reform into a slender essence stiletto that moves even faster through the air. The essence stiletto strikes Xorus over his heart where it shatters into thin tendrils of darkness upon impact.

Kiyna glances between Lylia and Xorus.

Lylia removes a strong leather gag from in her wrap.

Speaking to Lylia, Kiyna asks, "Is... that how Faendryl flirt?"

Lylia says, "One of many ways."

Speaking to Evia, Ulfwine says, ""The potato was a tad dry."

Lylia says, "I think I may need this for that meeting."

Lylia waves a strong leather gag around.

Lylia clarifies, "For myself."

Speaking to Kiyna, Perigourd says, "It's how some of them do, at least."

Leifa complains, "It's so cold."

Speaking to Perigourd, Kiyna agrees, "So it seems."

Ulfwine says, "We could have moved this conversation to the the bonfire. My feelings would not have been injured."

Missoni says, "The walls do help with the wind, at least."

Lylia says, "I feel for Elidal. That meeting will be a challenge."

Speaking to Ulfwine, Evia says, "And we could have roasted your potato in it and you would not have eaten it raw."

Ulfwine asks, "What was I thinking?"

Lord Elidal just arrived.

Elidal says, "Join me, if you will. Let's go see these walls truly."

[joining]

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Sho long Drake wall."

[travel, then return]

Elidal peers quizzically at Kayse.

Elidal peers quizzically at Raelee.

Elidal peers quizzically at Kisun.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Wamme wake dem up?"

Raelee joins Elidal's group.

Elidal grabs Kayse's hand.

Elidal grabs Kisun's hand.

Elidal grins.

[travel]

[Imperial Campsite]

Stumps pepper the spacious clearing, as stacked logs leave evidence of their recent removal. A grove of trees surrounds the area, leaving a natural palisade to add some security to the campsite. You also see a wide dirt-covered trail, a polished bronze lantern mounted on a wooden post and a steel-roofed huge wooden tower.

Elidal glances at a steel-roofed huge wooden tower.

Speaking drunkenly to Cryheart, Gutstorm whispers aloud, "Dey got lucky."

Elidal says, "Hopefully sturdy enough..."

[Encampment, Prime Tower]

The top of the imperial watchtower is spacious and ringed by a reinforced wooden railing that provides an ample view of both the camp and the Lower Dragonsclaw forest beyond. A small weapons rack houses several spears, bows and arrows, and a wide cabinet safely secures some preserved rations and herb kits. You also see a wooden ladder.

Elidal nods.

[Encampment Wall]

The stretch of wooden wall has been reinforced and provides a tall and sturdy barrier between the Lower Dragonsclaw and the imperial encampment. To the northwest looms the gloomy parapets of Darkstone Castle nestled among the wooded hills, and to the east towers the obscured peaks of Melgorehn's Reach.

Missoni happily says, "Oh."

Elidal gazes out over the walls and into the distance.

Missoni cheerfully says, "Excellent defenses."

Perigourd says, "Seems to be holding nicely."

A small weapons rack houses several spears, bows and arrows, and a wide cabinet safely secures some preserved rations and herb kits. You also see a wooden ladder.

Ulfwine says, "This will add much to the security of the campsite."

Missoni says, "Very sturdy."

To the northwest looms the gloomy parapets of Darkstone Castle nestled among the wooded hills, and to the east towers the obscured peaks of Melgorehn's Reach.

[Encampment, Pylon Tower]

The top of the imperial watchtower is spacious and ringed by a reinforced wooden railing that provides an ample view of both the camp and the Lower Dragonsclaw forest beyond. A small weapons rack houses several spears, bows and arrows, and a wide cabinet safely secures some preserved rations and herb kits. You also see a glowing blue-white pylon and a wooden ladder.

Elidal says, "And easy movement between the defense towers."

Sunwu says, "Have a feelin' they'll be tested 'fore too long, anyway."

Tikba says, "An expensive device."

Elidal says, "If we built five towers, the pylon was free."

'Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Need ballishtae."

Elidal smirks.

Elidal nods at Gutstorm.

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Shame apparently you need Thadston's permission to activate it though."

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Who is leading any soliders here now that Sablo is....away?"

Elidal says, "Not that pylon."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Dish my tower."

Elidal says, "Sablo will return. In the meantime, I suppose..."

Elidal says, "Me."

Speaking to Perigourd, Vaemyr says, "I'm just joking of Thadston claiming all the pylons as "his"."

Guarrin notes, "Improved crenellations would be a good next step. Or a gate house."

Kelfyr asks, "Swung a sword more recently than you had swung an axe?"

Tikba mildly asks, "Is there any word of the shipments of stone that we had hoped for?"

Elidal says, "I am trained with a sword and bow."

The autumn-hued kit lowers her front legs into the ground, leaving her hindquarters upright. She barks once at the coppery barn owl.

Ulfwine says, "It is a good start. Perhaps it will be enough to last as this camp is temporary."

Elidal says, "I would tell you I'm the best archer within earshot of the Wyrdeep, but Baron Breshon would tell you he is."

Speaking to Elidal, Sunwu asks, "Used 'em in anger yet?"

Stormyrain lightly says, "Harmony wants to play with Owly, how adorable."

Elidal says, "...its true. He typically betters me."

Evia says, "Or Larsya."

Speaking to Evia, Missoni says, "I suspect she would have something to say about it."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Earthdiver damn fine archer."

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Perhaps an archery contest should he visit here."

Perigourd says, "It would be interesting to watch."

Elidal says, "That is a grand idea."

Elidal nods at Perigourd.

Tikba says, "I hope Baron Breshon is well. He seemed a good man."

Elidal nods at Tikba.

Elidal says, "He is."

Missoni says, "Oh, how delightful that would be."

Earthdiver says, "It has been many years."

Missoni notes, "When it is warmer."

Speaking to Tikba, Vaemyr says, "He owes Larsya a visit up here at some point, who knows maybe spring time will allow him a chance to travel."

Minotaurs' Message

In the distance, several tree branches bend.

Elidal squints.

Elidal asks, "...more?"

Kiyna warns, "On your guard."

Thrassus asks, "Another failed experiment?"

Vaemyr asks, "Another... experiment?"

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "BOOM!"

Speaking drunkenly to Missoni, Gutstorm slurs, "No tell Meril me did dat."

Speaking to Sunwu, Archious says, "Stay your sword."

A cloud of dense silvery fog suddenly appears. The fog quickly dissipates to reveal Irval.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Oh, it only Irval."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Ulfwine says, ""Irval doesn't strike me as the sort to lurk in trees."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "It moved."

Speaking to Irval, Lylia asks, "Have you been lurking in trees?"

Speaking to Ulfwine, Tikba agrees, "Too tall."

Irval says, "I do tent to shade like a tree."

Kelfyr says, "Not unless dropped there by a griffin."

Speaking drunkenly to Perigourd, Gutstorm slurs, "Yoo kin shoot shruff odor da rail."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me hit a velnalin."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Room for another?"

Elidal nods.

Irval smiles.

Irval joins Elidal's group.

Marching out of the Dragonsclaw forest comes a huge minotaur warrior, stopping just at the edge of the woods.

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "Nevermind."

Kelfyr says, "This one seems less feeble."

Ulfwine says, "Well well well."

Thrassus says, "That's a big one."

Leifa announces, "Look."

Guarrin asks, "Another?"

Ulfwine says, "Yet not glowing blue."

The huge minotaur warrior hoists up a massive feras flamberge.

Missoni asks, "Perhaps it is looking for its comrade?"

Kayse slowly asks, "Oh, where'd he get that?"

Elidal sighs.

Kelfyr says, "I guess there was a seventh."

Speaking to Kayse, Perigourd says, "Last of their armory, perhaps."

Raelee says, "... it could have been forged prior."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Ye no hear me yellin?"

Ulfwine says, "We'll go with that."

Speaking to Perigourd, Kayse says, "I'll put more sarcasm in my sentence next time."

The huge minotaur warrior steps forward more, and the trees behind him rustle and shift as a second, third, and then a dozen more minotaurs step into view.

Elidal sighs.

Raelee adds, "If it is augmented by plinite, of course, we are about to experience some degree of pain."

Elidal says, "Closer then they've gotten to the camp recently..."

Thrassus says, "The walls were finished just in time it seems."

Speaking in Dhe'narsi to Sunwu, Archious says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Elidal, Tikba asks, "Have there been other attacks since the forge?"

Cryheart says, "Looks like we shall be testing them."

Speaking to Archious, Sunwu says, "Aye, lord."

Xorus remarks, "The minotaurs have been here for thousands of years, but they have usually kept to themselves."

The huge minotaur in the front looks up at the wooden walls with its black eyes, and throws his feras flamberge to the ground.

Vaemyr asks, "Ehh?"

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc asks something you don't understand.

Irval asks, "Surrender?"

Vaemyr asks, "Are they here to talk?"

Thrassus says, "Interesting."

Guarrin says, "So it seems."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "Perhaps Gnul has finally gone too far."

Missoni optimistically says, "Perhaps they are sick of the experiments and wish to join us."

Tikba says, "Perhaps they are dying."

Earthdiver says, "Maybe it wants to join our side."

Speaking to Missoni, Guarrin says, "That would be a pleasant change."

Speaking to Missoni, Evia says, "But they're so bull-headed."

A second minotaur throws down his feras flail.

Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Free labor force?"

Speaking to Missoni, Perigourd says, "Coupled with Gnul's string of losses, morale may be low."

Lylia says, "Gnul has used them cruelly."

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "Shall we meet with them? We far outnumber them, if they intend to lure us close."

Cryheart says, "Interesting."

Lylia says, "Perhaps they grow weary of it."

Elidal looks over at Kiyna and shakes his head.

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me got dib on ferash claidhmore."

Elidal says, "Let them do what they've come to do..."

Elidal says, "They see us."

Elidal says, "...and we them."

Tikba murmurs, "Sablo said that a few losses would cause Gnul's alliance to begin to crumble."

Speaking to Tikba, Kiyna retorts, "He wasn't the first to say that."

A third and fourth minotaur step forward, tossing down their feras spear and morning star.

The voice of Kayse hesitantly says, "Are they surrendering or about to prove a point...."

[General] The ghost of Jehance asks, "Anyone who could rescue me from Elder Tree Spirits on the Abandoned Farm in Icemule please?"

Xorus says, "Nor are they unintelligent. Their architecture is rather impressive."

Kelfyr asks, "Perhaps both?"

Kiyna says, "Suppose we're going to find out..."

Perigourd says, "I usually prove my points at the end of a sword."

The voice of Kayse offers, "Perhaps they do not want to become experiments."

Perigourd says, "Not without one."

Irval says, "There is no shame in what they are doing. While most fought honorably. I think they saw Gnul for what he really was . The true monster that not even , they, creatures of the wild would bend the knee to any longer."

[General] The ghost of Jehance thinks, "I had time to use special abilities to escape, but didn't want to lose my normal use of Sigil of Escape. It was looking like I would survive the onslaught."

Vaemyr says, "Turning to blue dust seems like a good motivator to leave Gnul."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Tikba says, "I fear Kilron will pay only a few hundred silver."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Missoni says, "It certainly did not seem an easy death."

Speaking drunkenly to Tikba, Gutstorm slurs, "It fer Dwi, she like to chuckem."

Speaking to Vaemyr, Kiyna says, "To say nothing of the goblins. Dissolving into some horrible sap... sap the color of yellow plinite."

Irval says, "Also, I think, that they could make a good labor and defense force if it were to move that direction. Would be an interesting albeit positive step forward into mending relations and perhaps gaining additional allies moving forward."

Kelfyr says, "And bringing the roof down on the heads of both our party and the residents of those caves."

Speaking to Irval, Kelfyr says, "I wouldn't be too quick to expect an alliance. More likely an uneasy peace."

Speaking incredulously in Dhe'narsi to Irval, Archious says something you don't understand.

Irval says, "True. But all alliances begin with uneasy truces."

Speaking to Kelfyr, Kiyna says, "We can only hope."

Kelfyr says, "Though, I guess we'll see if they march on toward Wehntoph."

Irval says, "Plus to be a fly on the wall when Mother hears of it."

Irval asks, "Can you imagine her face?"

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc asks something you don't understand.

Speaking in Dhe'narsi, Marroc says something you don't understand.

Speaking to Irval, Kelfyr asks, "Why would you think the Rooks wouldn't welcome it as well?"

Elidal looks down at the gathered minotaurs.

Earthdiver says, "If they're cold, let them in."

Leifa seethes, "Let me kill them."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Minotaur tashte like chimkin?"

Cryheart says, "That may nae be necessary."

Earthdiver says, "Going to go with beef..."

Speaking to Gutstorm, Kezoku says, "No, they go moo."

Several more minotaurs step forward, tossing their feras falchions to the ground.

Kelfyr says, "I think you'd need to build several more walls at various angles to each other for them to feel at home here."

Irval says, "Lets hope more "herd" to this call."

Speaking to Cryheart, Leifa asks, "Since when is necessary a component of killing minotaurs?"

Cryheart says, "When they attack."

Cryheart says, "Otherwise."

Earthdiver says, "Seems the minotaurs are defecting."

Cryheart says, "They are."

Kezoku says, "They seem alright."

The minotaurs nod, locking eyes with those on the wall. They turn and march off into the forest, heading far to the south. >_error bold in affect at prompt

Lylia says, "If these communicate their desire not to fight to their compatriots, then it makes sense to let them live to tell the tale."

Ulfwine says, "If they want to leave, I am all for it."

Vaemyr says, "They are heading back to Whentoph."

Elidal nods.

Gutstorm yells, "Yoo better run!"

Earthdiver says, "They are among the more wise."

Kelfyr says, "That's one alliance seemingly broken."

Leifa insists, "See, I scared them."

Missoni calls, "Fair eve."

Xorus says, "As I said. Minotaurs are a proud people, and mostly keep to themselves. This has been an aberration."

Elidal says, "It seems the forges being destroyed, and the fallout from that, took more than Gnul's feras away."

Ulfwine says, "Good, good."

Speaking to Xorus, Kelfyr says, "I truly wonder what brought them into the fold in the first place."

Kezoku says, "Finally some good news."

Irval says, "Id call that quite the victory with aftershocks."

Earthdiver says, "But there are many still in the alliance."

Elidal nods at Kelfyr.

Speaking to Elidal, Kiyna says, "This suggests there are likely many more groups who are straddling the line between fear of Gnul and fear of us. This is why we advised against Sablo's butchery. We want to be the lesser evil."

Elidal says, "But the mountain alliance is fracturing."

Ulfwine says, "Gnul is weaker than he was, and that is a start, perhaps the tide is turning."

Elidal says, "As ours only grows it seems. I hope."

Speaking to Elidal, Vaemyr says, "This is why the restraint we showed at the forge was such a good idea... we show that we're a better chance of living than being with Gnul."

Irval says, "Destabilize, demoralized, and soon to be defeated. My favorite three D's."

Elidal nods at Kiyna.

Elidal says, "You will never have to convince me against butchery."

Kayse glances at Elidal.

Guarrin agrees, "You cannot raze where you wish to build."

Elidal asks, "You do not agree?"

Elidal peers quizzically at Kayse.

Speaking to Elidal, Kayse asks, "Did I question you?"

Irval says, "Seems the mercy call on sparing the innocents paid off else I dont think they would of showed for fear of slaughter."

Elidal chuckles.

Tikba mildly says, "I did not agree."

Elidal says, "Forgive me, I'm young. Sometime's I cannot accurately read a woman's glance."

Elidal chuckles.'

Speaking to Elidal, Xorus says, "You should have me tell you the more ancient histories of this land some night, before the krolvin were on Glaoveln and when this magical mountain did not exist."

Tikba says, "But I am glad to see them lay down their arms."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval asks, "Who truly can?"

Elidal nods at Xorus.

Kayse gazes in amusement at Elidal.

Elidal says, "I would welcome that Xorus."

Earthdiver says, "That poor orc hunter down there probably has no idea why there is a pile of feras weapons. She did her best to pick up some earlier."

Xorus nods at Elidal.

Lylia says, "So would I."

Elidal grins at Archious.

Speaking to Irval, Vaemyr says, "Little bit of a combinations of that, Gnul's experiments killing some of them horribly, and their losses. Sometimes it's better to take your chances elsewhere so to speak."

Elidal says, "Archious, we shall arrange a meeting soon. I welcome all. But I have not forgotten."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Speaking to Elidal, Irval says, "Hang this as a sign of victory. One of many to come."

Earthdiver says, "Will Gnul now strike at the minotaurs."

Irval offers Elidal a feras flail.

Elidal says, "I am curious to the Tower's response."

Elidal accepts Irval's feras flail.

Elidal grins at Irval.

Elidal nods.

Speaking to Earthdiver, Vaemyr says, "Possibly."

Speaking to Elidal, Archious says, "Eii, I do hope to conclude our dealings soon, and I am pleased to see Gnul ejected from Sentoph."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "We lucky da tower didnt cave in ontop of da forge when the ground clapshed."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Vaemyr says, "But I doubt he'll want to strain his forces further."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Kiyna says, "If it's possible for him to do so, it would be the smart decision. He needs to keep his people afraid of him, clearly."

Xorus says, "In the late Age of Chaos this land was controlled by two human brothers, one a charismatic ruler and the other not so, but instead a powerful mage."

Elidal says, "Hopefully there is freedom all around and within the Sentoph."

Elidal nods at Archious.

Speaking to Gutstorm, Sunwu says, "We built a sturdier foundation than that."

Xorus says, "I have often suspected Darkstone Castle is from that time. But I do not know."

Elidal says, "Oo, that'd be a drink at our next meeting."

Elidal smirks.

Speaking to Elidal, Tikba says, "You must drink."'

Tikba nods at Elidal.

Elidal winks at Tikba.

Tikba grins wryly at Elidal.

Speaking to Xorus, Lylia asks, "Does history rhyme?"

Elidal says, "Goodnight everyone. Rest well. Tonight is a victory, but we've only begun."

Speaking thoughtfully in Elven to Elidal, Kayse says something you don't understand.

Elidal nods.

Speaking to Elidal, Perigourd says, "Fair eve."

Speaking to Elidal, Missoni wishes, "Rest well."

Speaking to Elidal, Irval exclaims, "Onwards toward victory then!"

Evia says, "Perhaps Gnul etched wordy word propograndas on bits of rock and slate, and some fell for it."

Cryheart says, "Rest well."

Speaking to Evia, Ulfwine says, ""And hid them around thanatoph."

Gutstorm drunkenly slurs, "Me owe Gnul."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Perigourd asks, "Stacking arms?"

Earthdiver says, "Well."

Kayse teases, "Gnul's new supplier."

Earthdiver says, "They will arm the orcs."

Ulfwine says, "Nasty surprise for a young orc hunter."

Speaking to Kezoku, Leifa suggests, "Should we find a warm snuggly fur to wrap around us in front of a fireplace?"

Speaking in Elven, Elidal says something you don't understand.

Elidal nods at Kayse.

Kayse nods briefly at Elidal.

Elidal says, "Goodnight."

Speaking to Earthdiver, Perigourd says, "I'm sure the folk here could make use of them if necessary."

Lord Elidal just went southeast.
