Brother to Elidal Dhenin, Enisius Dhenin arrived in Wehnimer's Landing with an illusionary caravan of imperial wagons in autumn of 5122. He is a Magister of the Hall of Mages who commands powerful illusion magic. By his own estimation, he is very intelligent.

Appearance

You see Magister Enisius.
He appears to be a Human.
It is difficult to properly see his features as the hood of his robes is pulled down over his face.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a striated mithglin pendant, some charcoal silk robes pooling to the floor in asymmetrical hems, an ecru canvas bookbag, an oiled leather backhanger with a tall grey staff capped with a shadowy black orb poking overhead with the butt dragging behind attached to a leather sock and wheel, a pair of cream muslin trousers striped in navy, and some navy brushed suede shoes.

Background

Enisius Dhenin is the twin brother of Elidal Dhenin, the sons of Ferwin Dhenin a wealthy shipping magnate from the Barony of Riverwood, and Wintora Dhenin who grew up with the Baroness of Helt. Enisius and his brother moved to the Darkstone Bay region in the fall of 5122, roughly two years after Elidal was first chosen by Earl Jovery for investiture by Emperor Aurmont Anodheles, set to eventually be coronated as the Baron of Darkstone. Enisius is magically adept and became a Magister of the Hall of Mages. He traveled with his brother to Darkstone to act his magical advisor.

Enisius was sent away to Nydds by his father when he was ten years old after an accident where he attempted to make their ships more buoyant, setting work back months by ruining several ships and losing thousands of items of inventory. Elidal was sent instead to Gallardshold to split them up, and they did not see each other for six years. Enisius has issues with wishing for his father's approval, who clearly favors his brother Elidal. This would eventually lead him to take the blame for his father inflicting collateral damage in friendly fire during a hostage rescue attempt against the Ember Vale faction of reivers. Though seemingly no one is convinced he actually did it himself. Enisius is socially awkward and uses notes Elidal calls "politeness reminders" to remind himself to engage in pleasantries.

When Enisius first arrived he provided magical illusions of an imperial caravan of wagons as decoys while Elidal and staff arrived by river. He sought to research a way to end the mana storm over Darkstone Castle, and eventually cleanse it of corruption, so that the castle could be renovated for the Barony of Darkstone. Part of this was studying a floating obelisk that fires energy beams, which was installed in a hidden location around Glatoph. Which is outside of the border of the Barony of Darkstone. It is accessed through a mirror portal in the settler encampment of the Barony. Multiple test fires over Darkstone Bay were witnessed. It is only possible for close blood relatives of Elidal to use it. Though the intent of the obelisk was to use it on the mana storm, it was used as a weapon against the Ember Vale and killed some Landing citizens. There has been political conflict with the Landing town council over removing it or securing its ability to be a threat to Wehnimer's Landing.

In late 5122 Enisius took applications for a research group, with expression of preference on studying abnormalities occurring around Melgorehn's Reach due to its mana storming, or studying how to break the curse on Darkstone Castle. He was briefly psychically frozen and at risk of being killed by Rodnay, the Ithzir-human orphan hybrid residing inside Melgorehn's Reach, who was opposed to the settlers trespassing and said to keep them away.

In early 5123 Enisius provided illusion pins for a reconnaissance mission, where half a dozen adventurers from Wehnimer's Landing impersonated kobolds to infiltrate a forge with cyclopean blacksmiths below Sentoph that was in the service of Gnul, the self-proclaimed stone giant King of Thanatoph who was organizing violent resistance to the Barony of Darkstone by the indigenous mountain residents. There would later be a raid on the forge using "The Badger", a dwarven mining vessel possessed by Amos.

In the spring of 5123 Enisius met with people at Melgorehn's Reach while it was generating motes and drops of light, and there had been recent incidents of "Echoes", some formation of doppelgangers echoing past events. He expressed concern that Rodnay should be studied, potentially being a threat or destabilizing force on the mountain. Then some materials were found to be moving, similar to magnetism, and then shooting up into the sky near Lake Eonak. Some krodera ore floated and morphed into a blade, which cut open a rift, with ethereal scarabs coming out and burrowing into some people reminiscent of the witch Raznel. Enisius called these people "the infected" and planned to study them. He made an observation dome for it. There were issues of the mana fires on the bone pillars that suppress the "Bleak" blight apparently inflicting problems on the Reach, and Enisius said they would have to consider extracting Rodnay from it if it gets worse. Rodnay was witnessed suffering from it on multiple occasions.

Later in the spring of 5123, Casiphia accepts a plea bargain that involves consenting to allow Magister Enisius to study her, in order to cure her of poisoning from an attack by the Remnants faction of Rooks back by The Wraith. In the summer Enisius studied her in the observation dome where it is surmised there is a kroderine component to her poison, which is the same night Ferwin first speaks of the obelisk as the "reiver bolt", and Enisius said the obelisk is being tested for destroying thread. Then Casiphia and Thadston were brought to Lake Eonak a week later, where the metal in both of them was ripped out of their bodies.

When the people in the Landing went to Idolone to extradite Stephos DeArchon, they found people resisting where there was a small sphere of blue energy in the corpse instead of a heart, reminiscent of the plinite embedding experiments Gnul had performed on the minotaurs. Commander Sablo gave the corpse to Enisius to study.

When the Ember Vale reivers were being struggled against, the obelisk fired on the Ember Vale when adventurers were trying to rescue hostages. Enisius subsequently assumed the blame for it in the late fall of 5123 and was kept in a cell. But it is widely believed his father Ferwin, who has animosity toward reiver clans, fired the obelisk and Enisius is unconvincingly covering for him. Neither Elidal nor Wintora believe Enisius actually did it. Elidal tells people that Enisius will be doing community service by teaching magic to orphans.

In early 5124, Elidal reported that the obelisk is disabled and that Enisius believed Darkstone Castle might be beyond inhabiting, but destroying it might be possible and that he would request a final submission from the research team. Enisius planned to move the mana storm away from Darkstone Castle, but he was uncertain where. The research time constructed an artifact to move the storm and placed it at Lake Eonak. Grand Magister Octaven, then a wanted criminal, interfered using the Talon of Toullaire artifact. The Talon shattered and the whole of Darkstone Castle unexpectedly moved into the Bleaklands. Melgorehn's Reach had previously had rifting portal effects toward the Bleaklands, and the bleakstone statue that the witch Raznel had made to spread the bleak was being used on top of Melgorehn's Reach. The statue has an apparent counterpart in the Bleaklands located near Darkstone Castle.
